Coming to terms with… what should I call it? I can’t say death. the loss… of my health. If it was loss you could understand, you wouldn’t try to cheer me up, You say I paint the devil on the walls, can you not see him, dancing on my shoulder, pang after pang of pain in each step? “It could get better.” Can I come back to life? I can’t say death Let me accept it.

You do not see things as they are, but in hazel, gold flecks of who you are, tints what is, and what will be. Crack… the tangible is lined with crumpled paper, a wet inked poem no one should read. Burden me this. Crack… me open and see what seeps out. It’s all just nonsense foggy, pain soggy bones soaked to a fragment. You do not see me as I am, but in grey, dust flecks of who you are, layer on what is and what could be. Crack… my body creaks open, out creeps a broken sentence; Burden, me, this.

A blistered touch, replace fingers with twiggy daisies, watercolour paint and band-aids plaster pale skin, play clair de lune from the next room, you will heal soon. Radio says your generation is weak. Back in their day they cut up their hands and soaked them in lemon juice. What a wound to emulate. Self destruct, boney flesh bags, let their pain define them, but not you.
