Ok, so the people have spoken (thanks @ everyone who commented on my previous post, y’all are sweet!). Here it is. I decided to post this little thing I wrote and also share it here because... well, why not? Enjoy!

So, I haven't posted gifs in a while (more to come soon) but I may or may not have written a 17k gen fic about Elrond and the people and events in his life and it's basically just this fragmentary mediation on (im)mortality and I wonder if I should post it to this blog? Like are there any takers for this kind of content at all? Or am I just a weirdo? lol

Wait, why are they replacing Joseph Mawle for ROP season 2???

I'm honoured that you think I'd know the answer but alas I don't! (I'm fairly out of the loop ever since the season ended bc the season coincided with my holiday and since then I've been swamped with work 😩)

Anyway, here's what I've gathered: Rumor mill has it that it's because there were bts issues with his method acting making others uncomfortable. I'd dismiss this if it didn't come from at least two pretty big fandom insiders. So either someone has a personal score to settle or there's something to it. My personal immediate thought was that the role was originally supposed to end in S1 with Adar being killed off and the writers changed their mind but Joseph Mawle didn't want to commit to more seasons or a longer contract (although I would think it strange that he wasn't locked into a longer one or one with at least an option to begin with; and there were definitely rumours about scenes that might've landed on the cutting room floor towards the end of the season and I get that it's frustrating for actors but this is also quite normal).

I'll choose to stick with the schedule issue until we get any confirmation of anything else. It's pointless to speculate imo. However, realistically it was probably a combination of issues and if the production prioritized the comfort and safety of the crew & cast, I say good for them. But I also want to point out that everything else I had heard about Joseph Mawle prior to this didn't indicate anything of the sort and Ema Horvath hung out a lot with him during filming and only had nice things to say in her Reddit talk iirc. She didn't share the screen with him though, of course.

This got longer than anticipated but it is pretty big news, so. I'm not a fan of recasting characters and it's natural to wonder as to the reasons and I do feel very sorry for my friends who were majorly invested in Adar. Thankfully, I mostly found him creepy, if intellectually fascinating (surely both as intended), so I'm mourning the loss of the complexity he brought but I also look forward to the new actor and hope that they can make the transition smooth. If not, I'd rather they write Adar out and introduce a new character. Those are my 2 cents on this whole situation.
