Jcjdjd I actually love this
One of my favorite Merthur interpretations is Straight!Arthur Bi!Merlin
But Arthur is ALWAYS saying the most out of pocket gay shit.
And Merlins like "Arthur I know you didn't mean to hit on me there so I'm gonna let you explain yourself before I respond"
And Gwen's like "this is why half the castle thinks you guys are sleeping together"
And Leons like "they're not???"

DEAR PEOPLE HI!
I need help. I can't, for the life of me, write a poem. And the fanfic I'm currently writing needs to have one because, well, it's a Dead Poets Society one. I don't have to explain more.
My question is, would anyone like to write a short love poem for me? I would obviously credit that person and I won't claim that I'd written it.
If someone's interested, please please write me a DM and we can discuss the details.
Thanks so much! Bye!!

My first DPS fanfic
"Knox Overstreet was not gay. He couldn’t be. He had a crush on a beautiful girl last year. That meant that he was straight, right?"
The first two lines of my first ever Dead Poets Society. I'm really excited to write this fic, this film had me in a chokehold for two weeks now and I thoguht it was time I did something with it haha. I'll share the fic when it's ready :)
(((this will also be a self-exploring fic dealing with my thoguths soo yeah, good luck for me)))

The funniest thing to me about Merlin trending every few months is that I don't even notice the number of posts going up or anything I'm so deep in the trenches I don't even find out until someone points it out. I'll take this opportunity to thank all the artists and writers who keep us depressed gays fed I love you all 💛

THAT FREAKING SMILE IM GIGGLING KICKING MY FEET
Rewatching Merlin and I think the reason Arthur’s personality started going downhill again in S2 is because BBC’s writers wanted to introduce Gwen as a love interest to him and realized (too late) what they did in S1 between Arthur and Merlin— damn they’re going around drinking poison for each other, dreaming of one another, making oaths and envisioning their kingdom together, welcoming death if it means the other would survive, staring. STARING. They’re gay. We made them gay. Holy shit.

The scene
Can we talk about how laden with symbolism the entire scene is? Yes the suicide scene.
(The scene before, the conversation with his father is also symbolic - maybe I'll cover it in the future)
We see a zoomed-in shot of his father's shoes - the shoes that he was expected to fill.
Neil is just a shadow in the background but we can see his crown, which presents us with a symbol of what he truly wanted to be. It focuses on his dreams of being an actor.
We only see him when he is wearing his crown. He is the subject in this frame, the background doesn't hold any information - the focus is on him and him only.
He was only shown with his crown -because that's his real self. He is living one last moment as his real self and not just sentient flesh that's been born to fulfil expectations
Again, he does not have his crown, we see him a silhouette in the dark walking towards his death.
The gun is wrapped in a white cloth - like a ceremonial dagger
Two things that can be noted here -
We see him faintly in dim light, this follows the theme that was being observed till now - only his real self is put in focus. He has faded into the background, he is not the only one in focus.
Secondly, he died in his father's study, behind his father's desk, using his father's gun - alluding to the fact that his father killed him.
Just his hand, his one last goodbye to this world. For his father, he was just a method of living vicariously, so his identity is now lost
People also raise their hands as a call for help when they are drowning.
Neil is not distinct and gone, we see his parents holding him. They are a part of the background
His mother is screaming 'he's alright' because that's what she always assumed about his mental state - he's alright, my son is okay
God there are so many layers to this thing.
