So much of this feels like the ocean crossing we did 10 years ago.
We made lists, planned routes, bought provisions, checked medical supplies, had long days at sea without seeing anyone else and sometimes I was scared.
But there is one difference . . .  we had no wi-fi !
If we wanted to send a message we had to use an iridium satellite phone, wait for a satellite to be orbiting above us, write a quick e-mail, text only no attachments.  Then pay through our necks.

(Hang in there.)
Lose your shit tomorrow.
Today’s no day to fall apart.

No bread.  No butter.
So I checked out the soup isle.
I think I’ll be okay.

Back to school … NOT I !
This is the fabulous work of my nephew, a project from his final year at high school and now he’s a junior at the University of Iowa. AND a Hawkeye !

I have this wonderful friend in Newport Beach who send s me a box of oranges every year for Christmas! He is a darling, generous man. The artwork on the packaging is different every year ! This year it’s Granpa.
The oranges are sweet this year, just right, no acidic at all. The taste reminds me of the ones I had as a child in South Africa, grown in Citrusdal. Sweet and juicy.
My mom used to buy pockets of oranges in the winter. On Wednesdays I’d take six with me to school. It was tradition. We cut them in quarters and offered them round at half-time (visiting team first!) when playing netball or field hockey matches !

From the living room window.
Very pretty, if you don’t have to go out and shovel it.
When I “complained” to my 95 year old neighbour she said,
“It’s winter. In Canada. Get on with it.”
Okay.
