Yesterday when driving to the airport with my mom on Flamingo road in Las Vegas we unfortunately witnessed a little cat get hit by a car. We immediately stopped and made a U turn to try to find him in case he had made it across the road.

We found him by a fence showing clear signs of internal damage including a punctured lung. The amount blood this poor guy was losing honestly shook me up and made me even more upset than I already was about the situation. It was obvious he wasn’t going to live, but it wasn’t right to leave him where he was so we wrapped him up in my over shirt and brought him to the car.

I won’t lie, I was in tears. Cats (and animals in general) are a huge soft spot for me.

The plan was to get him to the vet to be put down so he wouldn’t have to pass on the side of the road. I held that little guy in my lap, petting his head and talking to him softly, things my own cat found comforting. Unfortunately minutes before arriving to the vet I knew he was gone. We still brought him in and paid for his body to be handled professionally.

In the end, I wanted him to have a name. So I decided on Thyme. His eyes were a green similar to the plant and his strength matched the herbs scent. He may have just been another stay wondering the streets of Las Vegas but he made an Impact on me and deserves to be remembered, even if just by me and a few strangers on the internet.

My baby sisters were in the backseat for all this and one of them said to us “kitty talked to me. He said a car hurt his bones.”
