Today I got an out-of-the-blue email from the first person for whom I ever did vinyl cover (years and years ago), a really nice artist from Canada whom I’ve never met but whose request to use one of my photos really set my life on a whole different path just because it showed me someone felt something about the photos I was taking. It really made me reflect on how I’ve changed, what I’ve done. I’m not even sure this person knows I’ve now made records of my own, and that his old band and the conversations we had contributed to that little thought of “maybe I could do this, too?”

Then I signed into my music email for the first time in a little while to find a new note from a fan from Brazil with whom I exchanged a few emails when he bought my 2019 album. He gave me an update on his life and the long distance love story he was telling me about back then has resolved into cohabitation in a different country and I just thought how magical it is that art can connect us and that we have the tools to meet and make meaning with people so far away. I was so happy to hear about the ways his life had changed since we last spoke. It’s good to be able to pick a thread back up - something you never would have known was there if you hadn’t tried something that scared you and been lucky enough to have someone notice it.

nothing makes me happier in stardew 1.6 than (spoilers):

the possums that now appear at night, get spooked, and scurry away in the cutest imaginable way possible. Can we interact with them? I so badly want them to visit me on my farm. I want compost heaps they can nest in.

So many QOL improvements, too, but the possums (and the little raccoon by the stump in search of a wife) are my favorite additions so far. I haven't even unlocked ginger island in this new save yet, so I'm curious to see what kind of changes might be waiting there, too.
