just reread all ur brudick fics (all the kudos, u have no idea how often i reread courage of stars specifically) but i just! EMOTIONS! idk if u intended this but there’s an undercurrent of everyone assuming batman (& by extension bruce himself) is hard enough to get along with & even like, so as a romantic partner he’d be awful. except for dick, who (to everyone’s bafflement) actually enjoys bruce’s company along with genuinely loving him & AHHH i love how u write them sm 😭😭❤️❤️

I do think Dick and Bruce’s relationship is pretty much impossible for anyone else to replicate with Bruce (and therefore also difficult for other characters to understand!). If I may take this excuse to meta and drown in all of my BruDick feels for a minute—

Bruce has admitted himself that he’s, in his own words, “not an easy person to know”:

And I think Dick is one of the few people who can truly say “you don’t know him like I do” when it comes to Bruce. They have this long history of learning and growing together which means Dick gets Bruce in a way that others don’t. And even if he feels distanced from Bruce:

Or other people are pushing Dick to question his loyalty:

He’s still going to be in Bruce’s corner 100%:

Because Dick knows the man beneath the mask (and not just the literal Batman mask, but all the various masks Bruce wears) and Dick will always love him and believe in him with everything he has.

Not to say Dick doesn’t get frustrated with Bruce’s communication sometimes or insecure about their relationship:

But Dick has nothing to worry about, because Bruce does understand that what they have is special, and he loves Dick deeply for it, even if he doesn’t often say it out loud:

And the crux of it all is that even if Dick might like a little something here and there, he doesn’t actually need anything from Bruce to love him as deeply as he does. He’ll love him anyway. He’ll be by Bruce’s side, no matter what, even if other people (including Bruce) try to change his mind.

And that unconditional love is the beating heart of their relationship.

Just curious, do you ever record process videos of your work? Your compositions are excellent :O how long do they usually take?

i tend to purge my procreate timelapses to save what little storage space i have on my ipad, but i did save this one bc i liked how the lineart turned out:

i also put together some process shots for a restrospring anon if this might be of interest!!

and thank u for the compliment on my comps... i do try to make them dynamic to keep things interesting ^___^

i can’t really say exactly how long they take hmm i think it depends on the initial idea? sometimes the final image comes easier to me, and sometimes i have to go through multiple iterations until i find one that clicks. i tend to work on pieces intermittently because real life gets busy buuut if i can, i usually try to get them done within a week or two!
