Levy discovers that Gajeel is actually a pretty good dancer in my entry for day one of Gajevyweek - Discoveries - and I discover that drawing two people dancing is actually pretty goddamned difficult.

Some Dragon Slayer Heights (cannon?)

Natsu 5’7 or 5’8

Gajeel 6’1 or 6’2 (he apparently grew???)

Cobra 6’1

Laxus 6’5 (damn u tree)

What they think about it:

Natsu doesn’t mind being a short king, but if someone makes too big a deal out of it (it’s usually Gajeel who does) a fight WILL break out

Gajeel made the mistake of looking at a picture of Cobra and calling him twink—turns out that ‘twink’ heard him and Cobra has never been more proud of his height than he was when he saw the utterly shocked expression Gajeel had when he realized they came up to the same eye-level

Laxus acts like he doesn’t care about height. That’s bc he’s tall.

Gajeel absolutely hates that Laxus is so much taller than him.

Laxus knows this, and purposefully does things to remind Gajeel of their height difference like using his head as and arm rest or patting him on the head to emphasize his “shortness”

Gajeel has and always will wear boots with a little heel bc 1) it hurts more when you kick someone and 2) he looks taller (I hc he is actually 6’0 exactly and so he always wears chicly metal boots to get to 6’1/6’2)

THIS!! THIIIIISSSSS!! Gajeel being scared is something I feel is just so real for his character.

Despite how confident he acts most times, I hc that he has a lot of insecurities regarding himself as a person (which Levy helps him work through when he actually shows emotion). Him being scared to be a dad makes so much sense considering (from the basically nothing cannon gave us) that while there was live shared between them, Metalicana was not the lovey-dovey kind of parent like Grandeeny. I don’t think he was like Igneel either (while Igneel was still stern) because he is an iron dragon so I believe he was really tough on Gajeel before he ‘disappeared’, which I don’t think Gajeel sees as a good example for how he wants to be.

Then it’s not like Gajeel had a loving parent (or parent in general) while he was off committing fatherless feral behaviour in Denish (read Rhodonite manga). Or in Phantom Lord (Jose’s a little bitch say it with me people). Even if Fairy Tail, he doesn’t have a close connection with anyone older than him (other than Pantherlily) who has experience raising a kid.

Like, Makarov…no. I’m sorry, but Gajeel latterly SPIED on Ivan for Makarov and had to see what a shit he was sooooo I doubt he’s gonna ask him for advice on how-not-to-fuck-up-your-child(s). Not blaming Makarov bc he is an amazing Guild Master, but still, something obviously went wrong there lmao and also it’s probably still a sore spot for the old man so best not to bring it up.

Let’s forget Mocao for now. He’s a pervert and istg Gajeel forgets his name a lot (hc).

Alzack and Bisca are like, one of the only healthy dynamics. But I feel like Gajeel hasn’t ever interacted with the dude so it would be odd. Also, I hc that Alzack is absolutely terrified by Gajeel bc the man is about 5 inches taller than him and managing as hell (the normal person reaction ig).

Someone (Natsu) definitely suggested he ask Guildarts for advice once and he flat out said no. Cana (who was nearby) laughed and fell off the bar. While Guildarts was such a good figure in Natsu’s eyes, he didn’t actually raise Cana at all and he has like, no idea what he he’s doing with her now so he would NOT be a good idea.

In the end, I want someone (WENDY) to just have a talk with him while he’s in an episode of panic and tell him that he’s a great big brother (figure) to her and she thinks he’s going to be a great dad.

And I love how Levy isn’t even worried about that she just doesn’t want him feeding their kids iron (like a normal person lmao) and I just find that so sweet. That’s why they are perfect. As strong as he is, I believe Levy is his rock. She is strong is spirit where he is strong physically and they make up for where the other falls short.

Ughhhhhhhh the Gale crumbs made me write a godamned essay. Enjoy my rant.
