VMI Worldwide has boarded worldwide sales on The Yellow Tie, a biopic about the famed Romanian conductor Sergiu Celibidache starring John Malkovich, Sean Bean, and Ben Schnetzer.
Scott Freije and Julie Paquit at VMI are handling sales and will introduce the pic to buyers at the forthcoming Cannes market. The film is directed by Celibidache’s son, Serge Ioan Celebidachi, who also co-wrote the screenplay with James Olivier. The cast is rounded out by Kate Phillips, Miranda Richardson, and Charlie Rowe.
The film’s synopsis reads: The Yellow Tie follows the extraordinary life of Sergiu Celibidache, one of the most celebrated classical music conductors of the twentieth century. Brilliantly portrayed by John Malkovich and Ben Schnetzer, he was a unique artist, revered and misunderstood in equal measure. From his childhood in Romania under the draconian authority of a disciplinarian father (Sean Bean), to his painful flight from home to pursue his dream of a career in music, his struggle for survival in wartime Germany, and his rise, fall, and rise again, in an unimaginable career and life path, spanning seven decades and all four corners of the globe. This is the true story of a singular individual with a remarkable destiny. An artist’s battle against prejudice, compromise, convention, and commercialism. A man’s inspirational, lifelong quest to follow his dream and win the elusive acceptance of those dearest to his heart.
Do you want to dance. No. Oh, come on, I dare you. I don’t care. Oh, yeah, you do, though. Just a little bit? Come on, this is happening. Yorick… no. Don’t think too hard. Just… come on. Oh, I get it. You can’t dance. Can you? I can dance. Well, it seems like you can’t. All right, don’t hurt yourself. Move over, there. Oh my God! Is this our song? We don’t have a song. Oh please let this be our song. No, its not our song.

For UK Father's Day. My dad & husband on Vera's 2nd birthday a few days back. So much love for this image as they tenderly teach Vera to ride her scooter.
Followed by lots of pictures of Ben being the being the best dad imaginable. Puppeteer, cuddler, letting his rehearsals be interrupted by a tiny wannabe musician II maker of the best pancakes, the person who makes Vera laugh the hardest, banana phoning even when she's not watching, soft, kind, deep feeling daddy who keeps Vera safe and goes to her when she calls your name...I could go on... I love you. I love how you father. Vera loves you. Eternally grateful for this.
Why do you think Ben isn't active on IG? He rarely uploads and his partner Kate is the same way. I wonder what they do in London all the time? Probably visit art galleries, drink expensive wine and have refined experiences in nice restaurants while being served course after course...
😂 probably that's what they do... but I imagine that they go a lot on theater, she's a director and he's an actor, something in common, and to pubs and parks.
about his instagram, he never really seemed into it and now just posts about his projects, that aren't that many, I even forget that he has an account because it's there abandoned.
I just saw this ask about how old Kate is, I just posted a pic from her stories on my Tumblr, I thought Kate was in her mid to late 30's; how old did you think she was?
I think she's in her early to mid 30's, I remember a post from one of her friends and it made me believe she was around that same age.
How old is Kate Hewitt, Ben's wife? Someone posted a new picture of her on Instagram and she's wearing a wedding ring. She looks to be in her late 30's or early 40's.
I looked up and couldn't find an exact date but as far as I know she's older than him
