Yet another for the “Draw the Dragon above you” thread, this time of MediP’s gorgeous bog, Calypso!

I’ve got very little experience drawing water, bubbles, and fish, so I’m really happy with how this piece turned out! :D This was great challenge and heaps of fun to work on ^-^ So far work has been a bit obstructive with getting art done, but it’s a lot easier to “contain” my work time so that it doesn’t cut into my free time :P

Here’s a headshot of GuacamacaYT’s lovely Fae gal, Mendiaris! This was done as part of the “Draw the Dragon above you” thread on Flight Rising. It’s been a very long time since I’ve done any art, and this was great fun to work on!

I’m hoping to get back into FR and doing art in general this year, it’s been too long and working now instead of studying will hopefully make that a bit easier :)

Lore planning!

I have found out a really useful site/app called Lucidchart! It helped me to plan out my characters‘ relations after I have fleshed out some ideas for my dragon clans. Now when I’ll be writing bios for particular characters I won’t get confused with their interactions and stories! Here’s how the general chart of all factions looks like:

This one is a more detailed outline of the positive relationships in one clan:

And now the same clan, but negative relationships:

This site allows a lot of customization, there’s a nice mobile app and you can also make multiple pages (like sheets in Google Docs) that are super comfy! They have a nice app, too. Plus, see that tiny yellow icon near Tenebris on the last two pictures (on the bottom left)? Those are comments. You can literally shove unlimited info and notes under your dragons names in a chart! So uh… I’m excited if you couldn’t tell. This really helped me out, to be honest.

Here’s my most notable coli drops from this year’s Thundercrack Carnivale! Admittedly I didn’t get much time to grind this week between work and studying, but I was able to grind out plenty of sprockets so I’m not too worried about it. I am a little disappointed that I wasn’t able to get one of each chest like I was hoping to (only 2 Snappy Conductors, the second of which I missed screenshotting xD), but there’s always next festival :P

Now for the Wind v Water dom battle! :D

So I had a go at putting together some outfits for your lovely ladies, and I can see why you’ve been struggling to dress them; it took me a while to come up with something I was at least semi-happy with xD I’m not sure if any of these align with your aesthetic, but hopefully they’ll offer at least some inspiration on how to dress them, if anything ^-^ I’ve included links to each of the outfits above each picture so you can fiddle around with them as well!

Options:

Make a maximum of 3 possible outfits for one dragon using 11 slots or less

Whoever’s outfit(s) I like best will get a doodle of one of their own dragons!

Info about these dragons

Vadik: She’s mean and a fighter/hitman who cheats viciously for the upper hand. Will work for food. Generally calculating and reserved, but bloodthirsty and brutal in battle or on the hunt for her target.

Pravere: Herbalist. Talks to herself constantly. Has mild oracle abilities. Very kind, but distant and somewhat forgetful.

Unnamed Coatl: A thief, chronic liar and just generally Rude. Her circuit tattoos are extremely well done because she used to work with some very powerful lightning folks until she stole something very valuable and precious of theirs. Don’t approach her without announcing your presence loudly because she’s mostly Deaf from a run-in with the lightning folks who came looking for their belongings and might stab you.

I’ve had a fair bit of trouble trying to work out how to gene and dress my Light Primal girl, Satori, but I think I’ve finally managed to settle on a plan for her :D The change is pretty drastic, but I like how her new colours contrast and that her Primal eyes won’t be quite so prominent (as much as I love them lol).

Anybody got any thoughts? I kinda want to make it like a little ‘gene challenge’ for myself during the festival, but since some of her genes are on the expensive side I want to be sure this looks alright before I commit. Any input would be appreciated!

Brightshine Jubilee 2018

This month, all of dragonkind come together to participate in the Brightshine Jubilee. This festival celebrates the light flight. Our most prized possessions, Immaculate Tablets, can be found by using any gathering profession in the light territories this week. Neutral and light-aligned monsters also have a chance to rarely yield these items as drops in the Coliseum. They may be crafted at Baldwin’s Bubbling Brew using alchemy reagents. Happy Brightshine Jubilee everyone! :D

I honestly cannot remember the last time I got a festival chest from digging, so managing to score two chests on the first day has me pretty hyped! Joxar has been very kind to me this year as well; I missed the the last Earth festival and I’ve been wanting that accent for Beatrix for a while, so I’m stoked that I got both in the one drop!

Now to answer the one question that plagues me every time a festival rolls around... What do I spend my token on? xD

There’s no need to feel bad about it, it took me a while to work this one out too xD

So basically to get both sides of the colour wheel between both males you’ll need to work out which two colours lie opposite the female’s :) While not 100% accurate, you could simply look at the full colour wheel to get a rough idea of which colours are opposite your female’s; the one made by FR user Wolvenhyde found here includes all of the colours and is an excellent reference!

A more precise (albeit math-y) way of doing this though is by finding the the female’s colour number on the FR Wiki colour list (found here) and:

Add 88 to her colour number to get your first male’s number, and then add 89 to her colour number to get your second male’s number

If adding 88 to your female’s number ends up being greater than 179, simply minus 88 and 89 from her number instead

So to use your triple-white female as an example:

According to the colour list, White is number 4 on the colour wheel; this will be your female’s colour number

If we add 88 to her number (4), we end up with 92, which is Radioactive

If we then add 89 to her number, we end up with 93, which is Honeydew

Ergo, your males will need to be triple Radioactive and triple Honeydew for you to get both sides of the colour wheel!

Here’s the ranges generated by the Flight Rising Colour Schemer for reference :)

I’d recommend using this to double check the ranges too, but I’m pretty sure the addition-thingy I outlined earlier is accurate but it can’t hurt to be too careful xD Hope this helped! :D

Help me out?

I want a pair of three dragons for a all-range random color project… like one lert’s say girl thats in the middle of the color range and two males that flip in the two diffrent directions of the wheel.. Lets say I take a triple white as the female which colors do I need for the two mates? I am stupid right now :/

It’s a definitely a tough one, your space imperial is super pretty and all of those accents look great on him! I find myself struggling to choose between 1 and 3 as well, although I think I find myself liking 1 a bit better because of its varied textures and darker colours; just gives me a bit more of a space-vibe than just having the stars alone on 3. That being said though, they both fit your theme and look great when paired with your imp’s colours, so there’s really no going wrong no matter which you pick xD

Jaguar/Rosette guide cuz I’ve noticed a lot of people struggle with it. It’s less difficult and more time consuming so it makes sense that a lot of artists charge more to draw it But! If you practice the patterns and understand how it gets placed along a dragon’s body, you can finish them fairly quickly!

So I’ve been fiddling around my random progen Talamir in the scrying workshop, and I think I’ve just about settled on a gene plan for him! :D I’m just having trouble deciding on what breed to change him too, so I was hoping you all could help me decide!

I ended up going with Morph instead of Butterfly on the Skydancer version too; Butterfly puts this saturated purpley-navy blue colour on the feathers and fur down his back, and I thought it looked a little funny against his thistle primary. Here’s a preview to save people looking it up in the scrying workshop :P

What do you all think? Any help deciding would be appreciated!
