LOGO 03/30 - Fluttercuts
Introducing Fluttercuts, a fictional kid friendly salon for the whole family. While doodling I had the idea to combine a pair of scissors with a butterfly. It wasn’t quite working until I stumbled upon this funky font ‘Sutturah Fat’. I loved it’s playfulness and sharp inkwells and used them as inspiration for the logo details which helped bring all the elements together!

LOGO 02/30 - Spokes
Today I designed a logo for Spokes, a fictional cycling themed pizza joint that specializes in fast and delicious New York style pie. Whether you’re riding a fixie or still in training wheels it’s always a good time to give Spokes a spin!

LOGO 01/30 - Roman’s Candle Co.
Every day in April I’m going to be designing a logo for a fictional company, trying to stretch my legs and create some fun design work while I’m at it!
Today’s concept is a play off my middle name ‘Roman’ and the ‘Roman candles’ firecrackers to create a logo for a classy candle company. Rome wasn’t built in a day but this logo sure was!

Made a super simple Website Wireframe Toolkit with the updated Paper app. Just press and hold to move an element and tap once to duplicate. Follow me (Anthony Wartinger) in Paper to play around with it.

Transcendence
Tumblr media
About 5 years ago a group of friends and I were out to dinner with Daved Levitan, a former SAA instructor who’s affectionately referred to as Grandpa. In the midst of our conversation about God knows what Grandpa pulled a clear marble out his jacket pocket and held it between his index finger and thumb, looked at me in my eyes and said ‘Do you know what this is? This is transcendence.’ He then handed the marble to me and after fiddling with it for a few minutes I placed it in my pocket and continued our meal. I have held onto that piece of transcendence since that day. It’s moved with me to 3 offices in 2 cities, it’s become a fixture of my work desk decor.
10 minutes ago my keyboard knocked over Rudy, a broken foosball man I keep on my desk, and out rolled that marble. For the first time in years it reminded me of that night and of Grandpa. As I hold the marble now I know it’s a simple ball of glass but to me it will always be magic.
That is all, thanks for listening.

Recap + Reboot
So it’s been over a year and a half since I wrapped up my yearly Daily Design project, 366 designs altogether, and I thought it was high time to start being active on this little platform of mine. Quickly I want to go over my thoughts on the process now that I can look at it from a distance.
Man it was tough, taking a portion out of your day, every day, and forcing yourself to focus on being creative is quite exhausting. Don’t get me wrong, it was crazy rewarding. I honed some skills that needed the fine tuning and I was given some amazing opportunities that I would not have had otherwise. At the end of the day I am so very happy that I did it, that I have something that I can point to as an example of what being creative is all about. Some of the designs are just okay, some are pretty close to shit but some of them are actually pretty rad; I call that a success. Maybe I’ll do it again someday, though I wouldn’t count on seeing new creative content from me on a daily basis any time soon.
Now to the real reason I decided to write this morning. At this moment some pretty big things are changing in my life and I thought it was as good a time as any to get my ass in gear. You’re going to be seeing a lot more of me on here. It’ll range from personal projects and works in progress, to updates on my life and awesome things I want to share. It’s gonna be an interesting year and I’m excited to share it with you.
Now I leave you with some of my favorite Daily Designs.

Daily Design.
Well it's finally here, the last in a years worth of Daily Designs. 366 total (damn leap year) some were good, some were bad, most were satisfactory.
I hope you enjoyed the ride as much as I did, it was definitely hard to maintain but I think at the end of the day I am pretty proud to say that I have a years worth of designs and a fun project to share. Thanks for any and all kind words along the way. I truly appreciate it.
Signing off, Tony
P.S. Here's a direct link to the final design. It turns out that tumblr doesn't like the idea of uploading a 365 frame animated gif. http://www.anthonywartinger.com/blog/final.gif
