I've made a couple maps for my 2nd book, Child of the Forest ^_^ They are the same map but showing different information. This first one shows the 8 provinces of Manena and their capital cities.
This second one shows the traditional route for Brothers and Sisters going on Tour and Pilgrimage to all 8 Order Keeps, the route Hemi decides they should take instead, and the detours they have to make along the way or will have to make in the future.
If you notice there are two towns not on the top map because they are two towns they detour to. Riverton because Vivia gets cranky and Neoma convinces Hemi to let them spend one night not on the road and Riverton because of an emergency.
Child of the Forest only covers their trip from Cape Eastcliff, to Crater Port, Westshore and then Starkeep. Child of the Sun will have Nightwood and beyond!
Lots of people think the opposite of patriarchal messaging is "actually, men are bad and women are good"
When in reality, the opposite of patriarchal messaging is "there is no immutable difference between a man and a woman and no trait belongs only to one group or the other. Goodness or badness is entirely individual and not tied to gender in any meaningful way"
I'm so bad at posting my art. This is a comm I did last month for @kiraofthewind. Eggy was a fun challenge because I had to ignore the voice in my head that kept telling me those arms are too long
I’m looking to expand my palaeontological toolset, so I’m trying to fundraise about 300 euros through doing commissions.
I can do larger stuff, multiple characters. I’m better at drawing women than I am men but I can give it a try! I do lineart, sketches, flats, shaded, from portrait to fullbody. Fanart, OCs, and more! I’ll even do risque but not quite NSFW art.
Check it out below for examples.
Dm me and we can work out some prices if you’re interested, or contact me on twitter @Basilisk_art. If it’s not an option for you, please signalboost me?
Hey everyone! I have decided to officially open commissions for character art.
pricing is in USD as follows:
$10.00 per character Sketch (+ $5.00 for every additional OC in group drawings)
$20.00 per character Clean Lineart (+ $10.00 for every additional OC in group drawings)
$10.00 to add colour
$25.00 for a Coloured Portrait (singles only, must provide approximate face claim)
$25 for an illustrated full body style (+ $15.00 for every additional character) (best for character drawings!)
$50.00 for a Realistic Painting (singles only, must provide face claim)
How It Works: once you contact me, we work out the details of what you’d like for your art piece in terms of style, pose, character description, etc. I take half payment up front. I will report back frequently with “drafts”* as I go to make sure that we’re on the same page and everything looks good to you, and once we’ve landed on a final product, I take the second half of payment.
I average about four or five drafts per piece. I do charge for any major changes requested once I’ve already started (i.e. change of clothes once I’ve already started colouring or change of pose once I’ve already done the lineart), with prices in accordance to the amount of work going into the change.
DM me, email me at [email protected], or visit my website to get started!
Finished with my first android tablet image. It's a bit to get used to but I think it worked for this piece. I'll be able to do more detailed pieces when I have my computer back.
Heya! I saw your post on twitter about artists and it was very moving for me. I just wanted to say thank you for eloquently putting together something that I've been struggling with lately. Idk, sometimes as an artist and creative person I sometimes bang myself over my head with "what's the point?" But...I loved that answer.
I'm so happy to hear that it was moving for you :)
Artists are imperative. We've always occupied the Gift Economy with roles like the welcomer, translator, warner of danger, inspirer, educator, mediator, historian and even activist. (see: The Gift: Creativity and the Artist in the Modern World - Lewis Hyde.)
A key reason we struggle to find footing is that capitalism needs our output, but doesn't want the ideas that come along with it. Another reason is that capitalism has commodified "community" itself, which is where our roles live. Which makes it a difficult dance, to be sure.
The point is that artists are critical for the health and prosperity of the human race. Always carry that in your heart, OK? Because it's the truth. 💕
Another update. My perspective lines were wonky and fixed them. Somewhat. It's not perfect but whatever. I did thicker lines for the two to help them standout but I'm not sure if I like it. Maybe it's just Jay that bothers me.
I just finished reading The Luminaries by Susan Dennard and I almost never really care about drawing fan art but there's like 4 or 5 scenes I want to capture from this book. This is an awkward one (honestly they're all kind of awkward scenes XD) of Winnie and Jay in her kitchen. I just loved the idea of it, the awkward tension, everything.
