Since Bloomsday is nearly upon us, here’s a gentle reminder that my Ulysses and James Joyce stuff is on RedBubble!

MAPS!

I've made a couple maps for my 2nd book, Child of the Forest ^_^ They are the same map but showing different information. This first one shows the 8 provinces of Manena and their capital cities.

This second one shows the traditional route for Brothers and Sisters going on Tour and Pilgrimage to all 8 Order Keeps, the route Hemi decides they should take instead, and the detours they have to make along the way or will have to make in the future.

If you notice there are two towns not on the top map because they are two towns they detour to. Riverton because Vivia gets cranky and Neoma convinces Hemi to let them spend one night not on the road and Riverton because of an emergency.

Child of the Forest only covers their trip from Cape Eastcliff, to Crater Port, Westshore and then Starkeep. Child of the Sun will have Nightwood and beyond!

3. Was bedeutet dir das Material Papier? Papier ist mir das liebste Material und auch das erste, auf dem ich je gezeichnet habe. Die grundlegenden Elemente meiner Illustrationen und Reise-Landkarten zeichne ich per Bleistift auf naturweissem Papier bevor ich sie einscanne und weiter bearbeite. Auf diese Weise bleibt das Handgemachte, Haptische und die nicht-100%-perfekte-Linie erhalten. Wenn ich unterwegs bin trage ich immer ein kleines Reise-Skizzenbuch bei mir und zeichne meine Ideen und Eindrücke direkt vor Ort auf. Auf meinem Instagram-Account @theresagrieben zeige ich diese aktuellen Skizzen und ihr könnt mir auch in einigen Prozess-Videos dabei über die Schulter blicken, wie ich live zeichne.

A really cool freelance gig from last year: an editorial illustration for the Chicago-based leftist magazine In These Times. The article talked about the gentrification of Montana towns located near huge skiing resorts, and the problems that causes for the local community.

I don't know if I've said this before but I have ADHD. And im saying this bc while I can hold down a job, when it comes to personal creative work I can be quite nonchalant when it comes to long-term projects and I usually never finish them. Which is extremely frustrating that my attention can never be well enough to keep momentum with doing projects that I really love.

The Daily life of Damian is a very special project to me bc its my take on a character I've loved for a long time, but I get frustrated with myself when I struggle to get a page done or to write things out. I'm only a few pages in and it feels like my brain has quit before it got started.

But I don't want to give into my old habits. I want to see this through, even if I gotta crawl my way to the finish line, I'm gonna do this! I want this to be something I look back on and be proud of! That I say "hell yea...I did that". No matter how long it takes, this is gonna happen.

If this is the only big comic project I ever do, I wanna do the best I can with it.
