Hey, guys, just wanted to let you know I’m officially leaving this blog forever. It was fun while it lasted but I don’t see myself portraying Astrid again here anytime soon, besides this blog has already been dead for a long while. However, if anybody would still want to roleplay with my Astrid, you can find me at Rolepages, just type “Astrid Hofferson” in the search bar and you’ll find me, there’s only me roleplaying as her there. I’m keeping my Astrid account there for now until further notice and mostly because there’s someone there who counts on me. I’m thinking of making this blog an archive of my old roleplays and I've queued posts with the latest replies I did but I might as well delete it since I don’t think it’s useful at all and I may need this account.
I hope you enjoyed writing with me as much as I did with you. Thanks to all of you for roleplaying with me and happy roleplaying.

She couldn't help but smile slightly at his modesty. It couldn't have been easy to get rid of that Queen, especially if it was nearly as big as the Bewilderbeast, so his good deed totally deserved some recognition. "Of course there is. In fact, our village should know who saved us, you should meet our chief but I assume you don't want to". She was thinking he probably did it more for the slaved dragons than for her village (he just saved it in the process) and considering the people in Berk still thought stubbornly of dragons as beasts, he wouldn't want to face more Berkians than necessary. Moreover, something told her that he might have already tried to convince them without success or, not even trying, have given up on them some time ago after he knew of them.
She looked back straight at him again with a tough expression as he spoke, still feeling challenged because of the fact that he wouldn't let her go easily. Then she raised both eyebrows and rolled her eyes slightly. "Okay, fine! I get your point. Yes, sure, I understand it". She looked around at the dragons flying around the nest again, and thought they seemed quite tranquil there. What surprised her the most about it was that any dragon seemed to want to harm her at all (it was weird after hearing Gobber repeating all the time they always go for the kill), and Hiccup clearly wasn't controlling them, but knowing how much they respected him, she felt safe around him. Who knew? Maybe, dragons weren't that bad after all... Still, she'd have to think all of it through better.
Then, she crooked her lips at his question looking slightly exasperated. "No! It wasn't the strangest thing I've learned today, thank you. All of those things were quite weird and disturbing, now that you mention it, and yes, they do, you are right; it's not that weird for someone with your age to live with their parents. But seeing how dragons are practically your only family, made me think you lived only with them". She clarified blatantly crossing her arms. To be honest, she doubted there were other human beings who loved dragons that much. She thought she'd showed a fair amount of surprise just from meeting him and being in that place, so she couldn't understand his reaction, since she wasn't that surprised about that, in comparison with the other things.
Astrid nodded slightly at his short and simple response looking puzzled at him, as she followed him and Toothless. "And what have they done to become your family?" She was wondering where his unconditional love towards dragons came from, clearly they'd done something for him, maybe saving his life; otherwise, why would he consider them their family? They weren't even of his same species.
"No need." Hiccup said in return for her thanks. "No dragon should die needlessly and a good Queen would have not forced her nest to raid a human village if they could avoid it." The dragons had been his main motivation for going after the Queen. He had intended to just talk to her and explain what was going on, she was the one who started the battle. Hiccup and Toothless were the ones who ended it.
He stopped and turned to look at her. “These dragons are under my protection.” He said. “I will do what I must to keep them safe. So until I know for sure you won’t tell anyone about this place, you won’t be allowed to leave. I’m sure you can understand the feeling.”
He raised an eyebrow when she asked about living with his mother. “Is that really the strangest thing you’ve learned?” He asked. “You’d think it’d be my eyes or watching me talk with dragons. Heck maybe even seeing the size of the White King, but finding out I live with my mother? I thought most humans lived with their parents if they were alive.”
He limited experience with humans seemed to suggest that younger ones lived with their parents before striking out on their own. Maybe his relationship with his own mother was rare in that he lived with her so long, he no real reference to compare to.
"They are my family." Hiccup answered. It was a simple answer and it was the truth. He considered all dragons to be his family, and he would protect his family.

Hey Astrid! What do you think of this band? (Fishlegs, Snotlout, and the twins) Do you think much has changed after 6-7 years? And like them at all?
"Hey, there! The gang? Well, to be honest, no, I don't think much has changed in these years; they've matured to some degree but they keep being the same guys. Do I like them? Well, they're a good team and can be very helpful, though sometimes they act quite foolish and recklessly, especially the twins: always messing everything up. But, I guess I like them despite that. Though sometimes they cause more trouble than they solve, they've helped the village many times with Hiccup and me, and to me that's what matters the most.
So, to give you a straight answer: yes, I guess I like them, at least a bit. I didn't use to before we befriended dragons but now I do".

What do you like most about Hiccup?
"Wow! Quite hard question, still I'll try to respond to it with only one thing, despite it will be difficult to choose, I like so many things about him. However, the thing I think stands out more than others is his endurance. I've always liked that about him, even before we started Dragon Training and I began hating him. I've always liked how, no matter what happened he never gives up for anything. When it comes to the time before Dragon Training, he was constaintly trying and trying, over and over again after his inventions failed in his attempts to kill a dragon, to show the village that he was a true viking and especially his father, and well to try to get a date with me as well, I know that.
On the other hand, when it comes to after he became the best at Dragon Training (which led to much of my anger, I wasn't jealous though), he still endured fame pretty well even then and he was able to keep Toothless hidden for all of that time; also when it comes to more recent times, and especially know that he's become chief, he continues to endure all the stuff he's got on his hand surprisingly well, as the leader of the Academy and the problem solver of the village. So many things are expected from him, that he thinks he won't be able to do all of them, and most importantly to get to be the chief his people want and need. What he doesn't know is that he already was and is, from the moment he befriended Toothless and then when he defeated the Red Death. I know he's able to endure mostly anything.
Another thing that I love about him, is how he's learned to stand up for himself, stay true to his beliefs and defend them no matter what. I like to think he learned that from me".

Tension. It’s important to a story, right? How’s it done? Anna Jacobs of AutoCrit.com wrote an article about it for you, and here’s what you need to know:
1. Don’t shove information in the reader’s face; in fact, it’s best to not tell them anything they don’t need to for their comprehension right at that moment. Hey, I do believe we already had a post on this …
2. Surprise me: Characters shouldn’t be predictable, if you remember, that’s what makes them 3-dimensional (click the title for your link). If what your characters are doing always feels obvious, your readers might get bored. Life in general is full of twists and turns, things we’d never expect. If your world is realistic, shouldn’t it be a little unpredictable, too?
3. Let the readers know things the characters don’t. Not too much, or else your readers will feel like they’re always waiting for the characters to catch-up. But if you give them a taste of what’s to come, say, a trap set in place by your antagonist, they’ll be dying to know what happens … then you can surprise them.
4. Cliff-hangers. 'Nuff said (which, come to think of it, probably hasn't been said since the 90s)
5. Short, quick sentences. It keeps them reading. If there’s a scene that needs it, ramp up the tension by keeping it short. This works well for more action-oriented scenes.
