Hi, can you tell when the new chapter will be released? Can't wait!
I'm pleased to say that the next chapter of ATACPO will take no longer than a week to be released, possibly even in the next few days!
I've recently been working with pacing myself for quicker updates now. I like to think I have a good sysem down for writing/editing a new chapter, but its always so jumpy, especially now with college finals coming up. Also, even with my novice ability, my dream is to make this Ch. 11 my pièce de résistance, so to say.
*Slight Spoiler* Jake is gonna have his work cut out for him. The Sully siblings, Tsireya, and Ao'nung are going to be in for quite a wild ride. Neytiri is going to pay the consequences for her actions just a bit. AND MY ASH NA'VI ARE GOING TO BE REVEALED IN THEIR FULL BLAZING GLORY!!! I CAN'T WAIT!🔥🔥🔥
To help keep ya excited, here's a whole mess of what I have planned😉:
“So…we’re here,” the obscured Na’vi muttered from below, the orange glow of their companion bouncing off the shoreline and illuminating the head of the thin spear they gripped beside them.
“Hah! It’s going to be fun!” a more jovial tone added from above, their tail swishing along the bark of the tree. They twisted the tip of their blazing, thin finger, as if using the trailing embers to form words in empty space. The blood-red fletchings of the arrows behind them came to light when the luminous digit was raised high into the air. “It is likely tsmukantsyìp (little brother) has gotten in trouble already in our absence. Do you agree, Txon?”
@anka-partizanka-from-pandora has plenty in store for you guys as well. They're artwork is going to make this 10x better 😈

Through the haze, he catches the sound of screaming from nearby, and a rushing of footsteps from all around. It's as if there are those running from the center of the beach, and those running towards it. Just as he’s able to see his eyes set amidst the sudden uproar of noise, Jake hears only one thing clearly enough. It’s enough to spur him into realizing the true gravity of the situation.
“Ash Na’vi!”

A seasoned hunter, raised under the skillful arms of the Omaticaya, who had faced the force the sky-people brought to her land. She was trained to defend her People with a ferocity akin to an ikran protecting its nest. She was the mate of Toruk Makto, mother to four beautiful children, and she had never fallen. Even in times of war, the uncertainties of her mind failed to overcome her.
Yet, for however strong she believes herself to be, Neytiri cannot ignore how her instincts scream at her to run.
The voice cut through the ruptured marui wall and into the air like a thin blade, with it a heavy weight of ruthlessness that sent a chill down Neytiri’s spine. “Lay your hands on my son again, Neytiri te Tskaha Mo’at’ite.” Her heart hammering in her chest, she came to the stark realization that this was no ordinary Na’vi warrior. “And I will show you the true meaning of fear.”

As the Ash Cloud Passes Over Ch. 10 🕷️🔥
As preparations are made, our resident Ash Na'vi/human finds himself a host to an unexpected, but not unwelcomed, visitor. And on the outside, we dive into the whirring mind of Kiri once more. A flurry of emotions and thoughts cloud her soul as she finds herself choosing between risking everything for the boy in gray or biding by her parents wishes.
The day comes to end with Kiri stumbling into something she never expected. Call it deja vu, but the young Sully can't seem to find any peace and quiet when one familiar Metka'yina continues to loom over her.
Ao'nung doesn't realize the type of danger he's unleashed upon himself, but he'll soon come to understand soon enough. After all, what should he expect from a weak human?
Apparently; a lot.
Huge shoutout to @anka-partizanka-from-pandora for this one! Their work continues to inspire me to this day! I highly recommend checking out their work, both for ATACPO and in general! Either way, I'll be sharing more of their artwork with future chapters!

Hiiii!!!! It's me. Again. Haha😅 I'm sorry if I'm annoying right now. I reread the story, and there is something that left me a little bit confused.
Chapter 5: "The boy that died six years ago."
Chapter 9: "...going back to his kids empty-handed once more, just like he did that fateful day eight years ago..."
So... how long Spider was "dead"? Six years or eight years? Somewhere in between? Or maybe I just read things wrong?😅
Pls, you will never annoy me at all, ever, or in any way 😁 And first off, yes, you are literally so right and thank you for pointing this out to me, I just changed it 😭 The correct one was six years ago. Cannonically (at least based on AvatarWiki), Spider is presently 16 years of age, which would have put him at 10 years old when he "died". I feel like I might be unclear on the timeline so it might actually help me if I write it like this:
2154: Spider is born
2164: The 'incident', Spider is declared 'deceased' (Neteyam are 9, Kiri and Lo'ak are 8, and Tuk is 1)
2168: The RDA return. Spider has been with the Ash Na'vi for four years now.
2170: When ATACPO takes place
I hope this helps. I made it so that Spider would simply have the time he needs to grow and become immersed into the Ash Na'vi. But thank you for much for pointing this out. I'm open to any and all feedback. I want to keep the standard for my writing as high as I possibly can. Have a great day! 💙

Hiiiiii! Again. Yes, I'm the anonymous person from before (I didn't want to be anonymous, but by the time I realised that I clicked the 'ask anonymously' button, the ask was already sent 😅) Anyway, the new chapter was GLORIOUS!!!! It was worth the wait. And the art made by the artists 👩🏼🍳😘. You both did an amazing job.

It's nice to see who the wonderful person sending me these questions actually is! I'm so grateful that you loved the chapter and the stunning artwork, and I'm even more excited you'd like to get to know more about it 🤗 I'm gonna try to answer the questions w/o revealing too much, so here goes:
As much as it's a thriling idea, the Ash Na'vi are not so much 'firebenders' that they can literally spawn flames out of thin air. The Metka'yina have witnessed that they are somehow able to control flames without it harming them, as if its a cursed power they have, but it is more so an trick than an actual ability, which you'll read about. If this is b/c of the part where the fire suddenly comes to life in front of Spider in Ch. 7, we actually might be digging into that within the next three chapters (depending on how I can fit it in) I think it'll be interesting to read about, cause it adds on to the Ash Na'vi Clan lore I have ready.
Honestly, no clue 😅 I don't want to rush the story, but I also don't want to make it a very very lengthy one where it's like you're looking at a scary thick book. Given how we're on the 9th chapter and we're like 30ish% of the way through, I'd probably go with a maxium of 26 or so chapters.
After a bit of thinking, I'm gonna go with 'no' for this one. You think it would make sense that the Ash Na'vi would welcome all those willing to fight, but not mine. I feel it would be more difficult to ingrain banished Na'vi in the clan. Mainly, it would be difficult to add in a new member that has most likely lived a long clan life with different ideologies and beliefs (ie. Eywa), so they'd probably never see eye to eye. However, the special circumstane would be taking in strays, someone who was never really a part of something and therefore can actually find their first home in the clan instead of just replacing the home they lost. Spider would be the major case in point to welcoming a stray (Jake said it first, and that'll never sit well with me 😡)

As the Ash Cloud Passes Over Ch. 9 🕷️🔥
A new, lenghty chapter for ATACPO. In it, we see how Trr'ong's true identity has affected those present, especially the Sully's. We even get a small preview of Trr'ong's forthcoming as one of the ash, if only to catch a glimpse into those responsible for his girtty upbringing.
In the end, a festivity awaits the Metka'yina in the future. An Ash Na'vi captured for the first time in history, such a joyous occasion must be celebrated. Little does everyone, they have more to look forward to than a simple party.
The Ash Na'vi will join the party soon 😁 It's only a matter of time before they get the spotlight. I hope you guys enjoy! Have a great day, y'all 💙

No amount of brain power could have allowed me to envision my take on an AshNa'vi!Spider as well as @anka-partizanka1 was able to capture it in this beautiful work of art. This is honestly the most heartfelt thing that has happened ever since I first started the journey of 'As the Ash Cloud Passes Over' almost 8 months ago. Not only that, but to see such remarkable talent and skilled artistry be used for the sake of my story just has me balling in tears of joy. @anka-partizanka1 deserves all the love and praise, truly. They not only went above and beyond to accomplish this, but they did it on their own initiative. I never knew capturing Trr'ong in the very essence of his character could be THIS beautiful. Which is why I want to share their masterful art with everyone. Pls give them all the love! This means so much to me, and it excites me for another chapter, and who knows how many more after that!

🌟10K HITS! 🌟
Oh my EYYYYWWAAAA, where do I even begin with how much it means to me to see 'As the Ash Cloud Passes Over' hit this landmark acheivement!
To think that what started as a simple idea a year ago grew to be something so big. I remember my first real interest in Avatar stories started right when the sequel came out, and I instantly got hooked. On a side note, I like to thank one Miles "Spider" Socorro for getting me addicted to reading and eventually writing about him. Months went on, the number of stories grew, as did my reading list, until eventually I had the dream to be be part of that growing population of magnificent stories. A few months of careful brainstorming (extra large shout-out to @yesthisismycurrenthyperfixation, who I absolutely could not have done this without), and this story came to life.
Since then, this has been an absolute wonder in my life. I have been through highs and lows in life, whether it be college or sever writers block, but I never wanted to give up on this story. More so, YOU guys never gave up on this story. Despite however long I took, or how low-grade my writing (most likely) was, I never stopped seeing the hit count grow, or the comments pause. It's why I love you guys so much, whether you're a passing by reader or if you've been alongside me through the entire journey.
It's also why I'm proud to say that within a week, Chapter 9 of ATACPO will be released! It is in final development guys, I cannot thank you enough for the patience!
But besides that, thank you to everyone who has helped my story grow into what it is today. I have so much love for Avatar, and I have so much love for you guys. Thank you 💙

Hiiiiii!!!! I just wanted to say that I LOVE your story. It's one of the best Avatar fanfic I have the pleasure of reading. Spider is my favourite character, and he deserves a lot of love ❤️🔥🩶. Thank you for making Ash!Spider a reality for us to enjoy. Drink water, take breaks, and I will wait patiently for the rest of the story. 🥰
Side note: "Trr’ong te Alo Sokxoro’itan" I really love the fact that even Trr'ong wants to let Go of his old life he still kept his mother's name. Question (I will understand if you don't answer this because... spoilers): Will we see the Sully kids interacting with the Ash Navi kids? When they are not fighting, I mean?

In regards to your side note (slight spoilers), yes, there will be a good amount of interaction between the Sully kids and Ash Na'vi children in my story. There will especially be a meetup with two specific Ash Na'vi kids that represent Trr'ong's found-family members, e.g. a sister and a brother. It will be tense at first, since both sides are pretty much going to be fighting for Spider/Trr'ong, as one side doesn't want him going back to the other. I've already got details surrounding the Ash Na'vi children (attitude, clothing, etc.) and I'll be introducing them somewhat soon.
The idea I'm going for, for the Ash Na'vi children, is that they're a darker parallel of the Sullys in a way. The Sullys are willing to protect Spider, but the Ash Na'vi will go much further to ensure not even a single hair on Trr'ong is harmed. Then, when both sides meet, we'll see how they all simply care for their human/Na'vi brother overall, just in their own unique way.
This might seem a bit long but I was just too excited for this! I absolutely cannot wait to delve into more of Ash Na'vi lore, especially in regards to how Spider is part of the clan. But thank you so much for taking the time for the ask. 'As the Ash Cloud Passes Over' is not over until I say it's over! See ya next time!

AO3 Comments are SO SO SOOOOOOO important because you can only leave Kudos ONCE. You add to the hit count ONCE (every 24 hours).
So whenever someone updates their fic, the ONLY way an author knows who their regular readers are is if they comment on each chapter. And we WANT to know who's still reading.
Believe it or not, some of us think about the name that pops up constantly in the comments and go "omg I can't wait to see what they think of THIS SPECIFIC SCENE cuz I KNOW they'll say something about it!!!"

As the Ash Cloud Passes Over Ch. 8 🕷️🔥
*Spoilers Ahead*
The worst part is that, beyond all the reasoning of Eywa, he somehow recognized that light tone. How…how do I know that voice?
He wanted to refute the claim that he knew exactly who the boy sounded like. It was almost uncanny. But how could he make the mistake of even considering the…idea that…he was… No, no, it’s not possible, it’s not. He can’t be…
“Take off the mask…Jake,” the ghost whispered, voice deeper than the man remembered, yet still carrying hints of a familiarly serene tone. What’s more, the way his name flew off the tongue of the boy, without any flaw, brought back deeply rooted memories. Of a child yearning for his approval when he had made his first arrow, or gathered roots by himself. The familiar pitch had not disappeared, merely morphed with age. From that of a child to a near adult. It’s all so wrong.
I have no idea why I wait till at least 5 days after I actually post a new chapter to make an announcement on Tumblr. I'm so bad with it 😅 But we are BACK! And we are bigger than ever! I mean that literally b/c you guys are so freaking amazing for all the comments and reads that I get. Like why are you guys still reading?! I don't deserve y'all after being on hold for a month 😭
But I hope this chapter makes up for it. B/c we are diving into the juicy bits. Secrets revealed, emotions thrown out the window, blades drawn 😈 It's all here, and it all revolves around our honorary Ash Na'vi. Dive into what happens when the Sully's darkest secret comes back from the grave. Whether to haunt them, or save them; we'll find out soon.
Last but not least, bit of a spoiler, I am so excited to reveal this chapter comes with a special treat. Miles across vast oceans, on an island that is conquered not by love, but by fire, we get a first peak at the fabled Ash Na'vi. It's gonna be wild.

As the Ash Cloud Passes Over Ch. 7
Next chapter of my Ash Spider AU is uploaded! Quick synopsis:
We continue off with a heartfelt conversation between one Na'vi princess and a prisoner. It's all a mess between the two long lost friends, but in the end, Kiri is truly happy to have him back in her life. Alas, there comes doubt. Doubt that she even knows the human Ash Na'vi before her? Still, she will find out what happened to Spider, even if she finds out things she doesn't want to know.
On the other side, Jake is starting to really feel the stress. Neytiri's on edge, his sons rest at home slightly injured from an altercation with the gray Na'vi, and his daughter is interested in something she doesn't quite understand.
Oh, and apparently there's a tribe of Na'vi who he's never heard of that worship knives and fire, which by his standards, is not a good thing at all.
This chapter was emotional for me to write...and THEN it was badass at the expense of *spoiler* writing Ronal and Tonowari basically telling a story about my Ash Na'vi like a horror story and freaking Jake out. I'm so excited to share a bit of Ash Clan lore. It starts with stories, then I'm gonna introduce all of Spider's new fam in full blessed glory 😁

I Love your Story As the Ash Cloud Passes Over!!❤️ Did Spider still meet Quaritch and get captured by him and the recoms?
First of all, thank you so much for the love 💙 I'm so glad to hear you're liking the story so far, cause there's so much more to come.
As for Spider meeting Quaritch and the Recoms; no, they have had not had any interaction whatsoever given how Spider wasn't around. He actually just missed the arrival of the human fleets in my story, but he obviously still knows what's going on just from word of mouth. But Spider doesn't even know Quaritch is still alive, or about the Recombinants.
It's actually a very challenging aspect I'm trying to approach carefully. On one side, Spider has yet to have a paternal figure in his life, but he still has a family. Now throw in how the man who is technically the closest thing spiritually to his father, but he's the reason Spider has suffered so much, Spider is not gonna take it so well.
As for Quaritch, he's gonna handle it quite differently. I mean he's literally gonna take one look at the human kid, who's painted head to toe in gray, hissing like a feral cat, and just stabbed one of the Recoms (likely Lyle for getting too close 😂), and think "There is no way in Hell this is my kid". Course it'll be a little more serious, but that's the gist of it. Thanks so much for the ask.

Ash Spider AU Ch. 5 & 6
Hey-o, everyone. A little late to my own party 😅 but I'm pleased to announce chapters 5 and 6 have been released onto AO3!
A wild turn these two take. Chapter 5 deals with the first wave of emotions and feelings of the Metka'yina and even Jake when we take a closer gander at our Ash Na'vi boi, who you discover is actually named Trr'ong. We also dive into the Sully's festering eldest daughter, Kiri, as she grows curious to Trr'ong's arrival. The chapter ends with her making a bone-chilling and heartwrenching discovery when she sees what's behind the mask. (YAAAAASSSS!!! I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT! NO MORE VAGUE PRONOUNS FOR MA BOI!)
How could Spider possibly become an Ash Na'vi? How did he get in the hands of a foregin clan? What happened to him?
All these questions will (very vaguely cause I'm leaving all the questions to keeping haning 😈) be answered in chapter 6, where we take a look back in time. More specifically, six years ago when one Miles "Spider" Socorro died (or did he?).
All sorts of emotions and trauma come up in my newest chapters, so take a look! I worked hard to give you guys the kind of story I dream to create. I am truly thankful for every single person who reads, comments, even sees ATACPO! I wouldn't keep coming back without you guys, so I'm going to keep making these stories with all my heart and mind. Ash Spider AU Ch. 4
Heyyyyyoooo, we back at it with a new chapter for my Ash Spider AU. This one concludes the thrilling 'forest arc', and now we'll be starting to dive in to the big reveals and angst-ridden drama very soon. A bit of a warning, this is my first time writing action scenes so just bear with me if there's a crucial amount of errors ro mistakes 🙌

Ash Spider AU Ch. 3
I write this at midnight b/c I finally pushed myself into completing my revision for the next chapter of 'As the Ash Cloud Passes Over'!
The forest arc continues, as we gain an idea of the consequences Lo'ak suffers when he goes toe to toe with none other than an honorary member of the Ash Clan. In the end, he bites off way more than he can chew, but a new player makes themselves known.
I never stopped thinking about this story when I went back to college a few weeks ago. There were times I tried to push myself, but it was really all the likes I got on my posts for the Ash Spider AU that gave me the determination. So I want to say, with all my soul, thank you to everyone who stuck/sticks around. You are all the reason I do this.
I cannot promise any further dates for publishing but I can promise that this story will go on as long as it possibly can💙💙💙

I wanted to take the time to give a huge shoutout to @basementnoodles for their wonderful fan art of my Ash Na’vi Spider design from ‘As the Ash Cloud Passes Over’ 💙
Any small gesture is so heartfelt for me but this, THIS caused a soaring peak of happiness and emotion for me. The fact that someone actually took the time to create fan art for ATACPO is no small thing to me. No one ever has to do anything in response to my work, but this is the reason why I am so thankful for all of you who simply just take a single glance at my story 🤗 Ya’ll are the reason why I do this!
Side note: Ch. 3 is on its way, I promise 🙏 I went to a long convention last weekend and I think I caught something so I’ve been lethargic and mentally drained. But I’m back on track and working on the next chapter so tryin to get it out as soon as I can. It’ll be a more paced up chapter, with a nice splurge of action 🤘
