Tension eased from the Mewtwo’s body as the Absol chose to question them instead of attack. Their disguise appeared to be working.
Slumping to the ground, the Mewtwo awkwardly seated themselves. After another quick glance around the cave, the Mewtwo turned their attention back towards the Absol.
“…Dragons? I had no idea, I thought was just an empty cave.”
As if they were embarrassed, the Mewtwo turned their gaze away from the Absol’s.
“I was just looking for a place to rest, I didn’t mean to intrude.”
The Mewtwo croaked out one final word in their reply.
“…Sorry…”

[Charizard were an uncommon sight as it was, let alone wild and unaccompanied by a trainer. Riku and Bast had sensed them approaching the area and were ready for any altercations, however the... 'intimidation' tactic eased some of their tension.]
[The Absol was the one to approach, sitting in the dirt across from the beast and sized them up.]
Your kind don't come through here often, let alone it seems you have no clue as to what you're doing here. I would think it's safe to assume that you don't even know this cave is populated by dragons, yes?

A nameless Mewtwo, the latest in a series of bioweapon experiments outsourced to a nameless company by Team Rocket. This Mewtwo seems to have a fond relationship with the scientists tasked to its care while dormant in the laboratory. Its parent Pokemon, Mew, was able to successfully wake it from its statis, and believes it is in great danger. However, it feels differently and longs to return to its human caretakers. Mewtwo is currently able to take the form of a Charizard. It is unknown if it can change into any other Pokemon. It also appears to share its naming scheme with Joey’s original name.

Turning their attention to the shadowy figure, Mewtwo’s mind raced.
The stinging pain of their injury was still throbbing on their leg. Their flight to the cave didn’t help their fatigue. They were in no position to fight, and they certainly didn’t want to fight!
Instinct took over, and the Mewtwo hunched up to make themselves appear intimidating.
Chchchchchch!! The Pokemon began chattering its teeth, only making their failed display of a threat even sillier.

Swooping down, the Mewtwo enters the cave with a loud THUD.
Quiet. Empty. A good place to hide out.
Or so they think.

gonna take this minute to plug owli's blogs because i was telling you about the mice the other day: @askmewntwo !! i know there are tons of mew/two blogs nowadays, but owli's lab rats stand out with a super unique art style that's just so lovely on the eyes, plus the plot is off to a really strong start! (why is mewtwo running? why is mew and mewtwo's relationship so one-sided? what happened to the lab?)
if i'm being honest, so far i'm most interested in joey and what his story is! so far he seems really clever and has a lot more going for him than appearances would suggest... also, i'm always stoked to see underrated pokemon represented, so seeing a rattata getting so much development and love makes me happy!!

What exactly has the pink thing done to you besides waking you up? The pink thing, Mew, is worried about you. I feel like there is some kind of misunderstanding.
Stop talking! I’m tired of you all! I’m tired of being treated like some kind of anomaly that needs to be rescued or coddled! I’m not some freak.
I can handle myself! The scientists new that. They treated me well. The lab was home, and the humans were my family and friends. They loved me.
Not that Mew, or you, or anyone else! Will you all leave me alone if I look “normal” enough for you?!?
I’ll find a human. Someone that can actually help me and not just interrogate me! Someone who can help me be normal again.
Mewtwo used transform! Mewtwo has disguised their true form.

“Uh, you definitely need help, buddy!” Joey insisted, looking at the oozing wound on the Mewtwo’s leg.
“Too bad it doesn’t look like any humans are around. I hear there’s these people called trainers, and they carry healing products on them!! Maybe we could find one?”
The Mewtwo shifted in the sand, almost as if it was trying to stand up. Joey began to pace back and forth, still talking.
“It’s too bad you look so… different… though. I’ve don’t think Pokemon like you or pink friend exist in the wild, and you might scare any humans you come across!”
The Mewtwo slowly begins propping itself off the ground.
“Stop… stop talking. I already told you I would be fine. And I don’t look weird…”

Me, I’m REALLY bad at seeing things. I’m good at smelling, though! So maybe I need to eat a buncha carrots.
But, uh, I don’t wanna eat your food if it’s hard to get. Thanks for the offer, though! Maybe one day I’ll come across a bunch of carrots and then we can share and have as much as we want…! If you’re still here, I mean.
