hey ruby! how are your friends doing? any fond/funny memories with them that you’ll never forget?
RUBY: Oh, my pals are doing just swell. The weather's starting to clear up, finally, so we're taking the opportunity to spend some good old-fashioned competitive time together. The ping pong table in Chatterbird Square is finally fixed after the unfortunate tiger incident. Score one for us!
RUBY: It must be said that I will never, ever forget the time we all ended up in four weeks' worth of detention together in Fourth Grade, thereby solidly cementing our friendship and ensuring we'd never, ever snitch on each other for the rest of our lives. But that's the story I've been sworn to secrecy for, and therefore I will never, ever tell.
FROGHORN: So you consider your petty schoolyard incidents to be worth more in terms of secrecy than your work with Spectrum, do you?
RUBY: Hey, you weren't there, man. You'll never understand the solemn, unbreakable bonds of detention-forged friendship.
RUBY: Mainly 'cause you were probably way too boring to ever end up in detention for anything worse than stealing an extra pencil. Zing.

hows lb doing?
RUBY: Hard to tell, really? It's pretty impossible to tell what LB's thinking on the best of days, and it's not like we sit down every weekend for milkshakes and office gossip... Mostly she just seems to be working, whatever that means, I still don't know what she really does except run the place.
RUBY: ......If I'm feeling bad about losing Bradley, though, she must be feeling a million times worse. So... I guess I just hope she's talking to someone about it?
RUBY: Man, I can't picture LB talking about her feelings with anyone.

Follow up question. Who told LB?
Follow follow up question. How did she take the news?
FROGHORN: ...I'd been assigned to re-encrypt the Prism Vault codes at the time. LB told me to be 'less smug about it this time', which is wholly unfair, the previous codes would have been perfectly secure if a certain someone hadn't started emotionally manipulating me for information - I digress. I was reorganizing the files, I spotted a discrepancy, and the rest is history.
FROGHORN: I was the one who told her, obviously. I would... say she took it well, if your definition of 'taking it well' involves calling a complete lockdown on the entirety of Spectrum Eight and yelling at the top of her lungs for a helicopter and a handgun. At the very least she was trying to shoot her ex-receptionist and not me.
FROGHORN: I still haven't got a raise for the extremely large part I played in Casey Morgan's apprehension and Redfort's current living status. But that's perfectly all right. I have patience. I can wait. I'm sure I'll be recognized for my work... eventually.

Alright gang, what do your parents think you do for work and how hard of lie is it to maintain
RUBY: My parents are easy to trick; my friends are the clever ones. There's only so many time you can break out the 'tragic grandma death, gotta take a week off school to recover' excuse before they start to get really nosy. But I manage.
BLACKER: Sad to say, I don't have much of a social life outside work. I don't exactly mind, though, definitely helps with the 'TOP SECRET, DO NOT REVEAL' clause of my employment contract.
FROGHORN: Hmph.

what does the coding division room look like? where in spectrum are you?
RUBY: We're situated kinda far-back in the hallways, it's always a bit of a walk to get here from the central hub. It's not too far from the cafeteria, though, so getting lunch is never a problem. When we remember to eat, that is.

RUBY: Jeez louise, it feels like forever since we touched this question box. Hi! Did you miss us?
FROGHORN: I'll tell you what I didn't miss: hearing your incessant, irrelevant, and frankly dangerously illegal question-answering during work hours. Why don't you go break your governmental NDA on your own time?
RUBY: Because it's more fun doing it behind LB's back, obviously.
BLACKER: We've already established you live life on the edge, yes.
((WE'RE BACK! The coding team is back in business, at least for a little while - now with vastly improved art, and a refreshed obsession for the fandom! The rules for this rebooted ask blog are as follows:
No NSFW asks! This is a kid's book series, so we're going to try to stay clear of that sort of thing. Swearing is all right, though.
Canon relationships only - no asks about noncanon shipping. Don't expect too much romance out of this.
I reserve the right to just not answer any asks I don't have the energy/drive to reply to. If I haven't replied to an ask, that either means I'm slowly working on it, or I just don't feel like answering. Don't take it personally - feel free to ask something else in the meantime.
