Artist Statement: I am an artist who works in several media - primarily ceramics, but also oil painting, photography, and wood.
My ceramic forms are influenced by historical Japanese, Korean and European ceramics. I try to bring a certain feeling of the natural world into my work through textures, brushwork, and glazing. The colors we see in nature bring a certain emotion to each of us. I view my work as a vehicle to share the joy of natural color and form with others - through the “The Color of Sight”.

Studio Name: Emily Anderson Artwork Studio
Type of Artwork: Impressionist Landscape Paintings

Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/emily_anderson_art/
Artist Statement: Emily Anderson is an impressionist landscape painter who works from her cozy studio in Marine on St. Croix, Minnesota. Always curious, she loves learning about biology, the interplay between place and emotion, and the innate desire within us to seek beauty and adventure.
Emily paints the forests and bodies of water of the northern Midwest, playing with color and shape to provide a bright, cheerful perspective of the natural beauty of our sacred spaces. Emily uses unexpected colors to represent these complex landscapes, surprising the viewer with a splash of vibrancy that is often not noticed until the individual components of the painting are each taken in fully.
Having grown up in the Chicagoland area, Emily always craved outdoor adventure and time spent in nature. As a young adult she moved to the central coast of California and spent her days exploring the rugged rocks and wild forests of the Big Sur area, fully immersing herself in the many moods of the Pacific Ocean.
After she moved to Minnesota, Emily searched for and found solace and beauty in the St. Croix River Valley and adventure in the woods of the North Shore, where she enjoyed taking in the versatility of Lake Superior, marveling at the similarities between ocean and lake.

Artist Name: Jeanette Richards
artOPENer Location: Jeanette Richards Studio - 36 Eagles Nest Circle, Hudson, WI
Type of Art: Acrylic Paintings
Website: https://www.jeanetterichardsart.com/
Artist Statement: Nature is my inspiration, the details & texture of life. Sometimes I begin my paintings with abandon; other times I begin with a specific idea or goal, setting a new challenge for myself.
Though I’ve worked with watercolor, gouache & collage, my favorite medium is acrylic. I often prepare my surface with paste to provide texture; then follow with several transparent color washes. As the painting progresses it takes on a life of its own. Finally, I begin to add opaque colors leaving hints of my washes exposed. Painting is like solving a puzzle. Every stroke answers one question but presents another. I love how time is forgotten & I never know the solution until it is suddenly before me.
My hope is for the viewer to share that same spark of emotion I felt; to linger & discover something new for themselves; to simply enjoy my work.

Artist Statement: The shape of things inspires me. As an architect, I have always enjoyed designing and creating three-dimensional objects that people can use to live in or just simply enjoy. My decoys are like the buildings that I design. I start with a concept of what I would like to achieve and then begin to shape it until it becomes a reality.

Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mariannebarrattart/
Artist Statement: I’m an impressionist oil and mixed media painter (gouache, grahite, water soluble colored pencils and crayon), living and painting in Stillwater, MN.
Beginning by photographing landscapes and anything in nature that captures my attention, I then edit down to the composition I want to paint. Through the manipulation of shapes, colors, and contrast in those images, I create compositions that express my feelings about the magic in nature.
The use of under-paintings are important in creating a sense of light, while drawing, brushwork and palette knives create marks that hopefully are evidence of my emotional response to my subject.
