My current job situation is still shit, and the whole gamedev industry in big shit as well rn, so I still can't find a new job and I have no savings left. It all means that I will probably open commissions again in May-June, stay tuned 🫡

PARAVASTORA visdev: symbols & patterns

I started the visual development of The Secret Keeper guild - their members (for example, the main character Saikal) travel around the world to gather secrets from people. It is a common custom for the folk to confess something to the secret keeper when they met them. Once the keeper's book is filled with secrets, it's stored in the guild archives and the scribes rewrite this in the chronicles. Thus, the history is made. The guild was founded by the goddesses of Sun and Moon, so the symbolics of the guild include these motifs. Since the activity of this guild is the defining cultural trait of Paravastora world, the patterns we can see in items and architecture are defined by it as well. I was mostly inspired by Belarusian patterns, since it's a part of my culture that is very dear to me.

Today I learned that Cainhurst helmet has a toothy grin in the lower part...The Bloody Crow of Cainhurst is even more sexy now

Also, it seems that he has a tiny bell on his neck?? He's probably wearing it to piss off his enemies even more

mountains are just really big rocks with more rocks on them but making them make sense on your canvas is so stressful sometimes. i know it comes down to planes/values/where the sun is but sometimes.. oof

hehe thanks!! <3 rocks are really challenging to paint! sometimes i get lost in their structure...btw I can totally recommend this tutorial my mutual made, it's very helpful to break down complex shapes into simpler stuff like this

This is Valdamerca the Starcatcher, in the Paravastora universe she's a goddess of the night. Saikal gets to know her when she starts stealing the secrets from the Saikal's book and turn them into stars ✨ Peregrinatio means leaving one's homeland and wandering for the love of God. I'm not a religious person, but I find the meaning kinda poetic, and it suits this character well. Valdamerca is restless, and she's looking for someone or something. She steals secrets and makes them into stars. But at some point she realizes that stars are not enough.

I'm taking a break from Baldur's Gate 3 fan art for a while. I had lots of fun these months, and the game helped meto deal with some tough IRL stuff. But it always feels draining for me to create for active fandoms, and recently I felt like I was pushing myself to draw BG3 stuff bc it's popular + recent fandom drama made me so, so tired of it all.

I feel like I figured out the whole Savari's story at this point, and there's nothing more I can add, so it's time to move on. I want to develop further the story of my Bloodborne hunter Hildegarda and then delve into the Elden Ring lore 🫡

The latest posted Savari + Halsin piece is a departing gift of sorts - I'm so happy that so many new people managed to find my art through this fandom; I made friends with lots of cool folks and I cherish this experience. The rest of Halsin & Savari pieces will stay on Patreon!
