Notes to self; the warden Chapter 12
Lots of thoughts here.
Firstly, Mr.Bold... I am yet again disappointed in him. After what happened in chapter 11, I cane forward feeling elated and excited for what was going to happen (just like him I believe) only to be disappointed.
In the very beginning of the story, I believed that he brought the case up against Mr. Harding out of a need for justice to be served, but I am now beginning to believe otherwise. Bold is more concerned about what others think of him, rather than injuring an innocent man or potentially being unjust. This is truly the biggest contrast to Mr.Harding and his philosophy that I love so much.
As for Dr.Grantly; he is an incredibly persuasive character. His eloquence is by far his biggest strength. He was able to win the argument with Mr. Bold before it even started. He completely crushed Mr. Bold, and made his arguments sound like a child's tantrum. Despite my bitter feelings towards Mr. Bold, I did come to feel bad for him, as I have been in a position similar to his before.
This truly shows you the power of words and how much it helps to be well-spoken.
Lastly, when Mr. Bold leaves in a fit of anger, he is quite obviously outraged by insult, and not by any form of injustice, which makes his purpose that much more shallow.
I wonder if Mr. Bold will have a moment of realisation/redemption

Note to self; The Warden ch9
It is extremely frustrating how convincing, logical, and well thought out the arguments of Dr.Grantly are. Eventhough everything he says is true, I can't help but disagree with him.

Note to self; The Warden Chapter 7
I am disappointed in John Bold. Initially, it seemed to me that he genuinely wanted to do what was right, and even though it might be hurting a friend, it is nice that he is able to stand for what he thinks is right. Although this might still be the case, I don't like the way he goes on about it.
Mary Bold's opinion on the matter (chapter 6) is mine exactly.
To add to that, I don't think it is right to be happy about the article that came out in the Jupiter, especially when it aims at humiliating a kind old friend of his in front of 200,000 people from the area of barchester. Especially not when he has no way to refute what was written on it without having even more fingers pointing at him.
