So, I’ve started work on a project. I’ve gone to a Hunger Games generator, and I’ve added a bunch of Tsams characters in.

but instead of memes, I’ve made it into a real ‘what if’ scenario.

Liminal’s place in the Underverse.

she’s more or less harmless, not really attacking anything unless that something is in Nightmare’s castle and shouldn’t be, or they attack first.

when she ISN’T in the castle, she’s either in Horrortale or she’s spying on someone. She feeds off the feeling of being watched, and what better way to get that than to go spy on people?

she has an INSANE memory, to the point where she’ll memorize certain attack patterns and be able to predict opponents and their next moves. She rarely uses this for battle herself, but Liminal does tell Nightmare stuff and helps the other Bad Sanses to train and whatnot.

she technically has her own ‘squad,’ like the others affected by eating a Dark Apple has, but like her, they’re mainly just creepy and that’s it. Sixbones is on this team, and so is Horror sometimes.

Shattered and Vantablack (dream and ink but affected by a dark apple), consider Liminal to be a slight concern but nothing more. None of them are gonna start battling her for power or anything.

how everyone met/reacted to Liminal Pt 2, electric boogaloo! (The Star Sanses.)

Ink; at some point he was fighting Error, who was… much more focused on the trees than the actual fight. Like… to the point where Ink stopped to ask what was going on. Error’s paranoia had skyrocketed after his first encounter with Liminal, which Liminal took advantage of pretty quickly. Error kept point out the ‘freakin Nightmare-Human’, but Ink couldn’t spot it. That is, until Liminal popped up behind them and tapped them on the shoulder. Error was out of there immediately. Liminal did this creepy doll-giggle, waved at Ink, and left. Ink… didn’t know how to take that interaction, but at least it stopped Error from destroying an AU, so…

Dream; he felt something was off when Aliza ate the apple, like… sort of like when Nightmare changed, but much fainter, and more focused… at the time he assumed Nightmare had learned a new battle move or something. It wasn’t until Cross left the Bad Sanses that he realized what was actually happening. See, Liminal was supposed to track Cross down, and at the time, Cross was with Dream. Dream could sense her presence, but only barely, because Cross was acting all spooked and it was interfering with the emotions dream could pick up. He’s never officially met Liminal, but he does know that the weird feeling he had gotten a while ago was the creation of another Nightmare variant. (Idk what to call them so this is what I’m doing.)

Blueberry; he was in his home AU, practicing in the woods. Liminal had taken interest and started watching him for a while. Blue couldn’t shake the feeling that someone else was there, and quickly spotted her. She ducked behind a tree, but Blue, being Blue, was not nearly as spooked as he probably should have been. Yes, he knew to be cautious, and that this thing was probably related to Nightmare, but… she hadn’t DONE anything yet, so…. Anywho, he just went back to training, with an occasional glance over his shoulder to check if the ‘goopy girl’ was still there. He even started practicing some of his ‘special moves’ as a way to sort of impress her. This was the first fan he’s ever had, even if they WERE very shy and also probably related to the Bad Sanses.

more mixed emotions than anything. Which… Liminal happens to thrive on. They have no reason to go after her, and probably won’t, but she’s still there and doing things.

how everyone met/reacted to Liminal. (Bad Sanses edition.)

Error: bot beat up almost as soon as Liminal was created. His only thoughts throughout the fight were “OH SHIT”, “WHAT THE HELL IS THAT”, and “I messed up. I VERY MUCH MESSED UP SHIT.”

Dust and Killer: they were the first to return to the castle, and saw Liminal just sitting there on the floor. She screeched at Killer, thinking it was Error again, but Dust managed to calm her down. Killer said “how are we gonna explain THAT to the boss?”, to which Dust replied with something along the lines of “I’m honestly more worried about Horror’s reaction than Nightmare’s.” Ironically, that’s when Nightmare walked in, followed closely by Horror.

Horror: he immediately crouched down next to Liminal, before glaring up at Killer and Dust with a stare that could kill god. But he was mainly worried about the fact that his human was now goopy, so he held off on attacking the two.

Nightmare: he went into full dadmare mode (a rare occurrence in this au. He cares about the bad Sanses, but he doesn’t baby them or anything, so seeing him act like this was quite rare.), asking what had happened and if she was ok. Oddly enough, he asked if she remembered everyone. Later on it’s explained that memories get a bit fuzzy after one eats a dark apple, seeing how it’ll cling to negative emotions and blurs out some stuff. (Liminal’s memories were intact for the most part, don’t worry.)

Cross: this happens WAY later, when Liminal Basically becomes the castles security system. Nightmare asks her to keep an eye on Cross, the new recruit… and she does. Cross can’t shake the feeling of being watched, which encourages Liminal to spy on him more, and it becomes a bit of a loop before Cross finally catches a glimpse of her. Horror explains who Liminal is when Cross asks, but Cross is still a bit unnerved by her presence.

liminal backstory nom nom nom

More stuff about how Aliza actually became Liminal.

so, the main Bad Sanses were off on a mission or something with Nightmare and Aliza was alone in the castle. Error was not made aware of this at the time, and he glitches in to talk to Nightmare. But since the only one he can find is this skiddish child he’s never seen before, he assumes he accidentally ended up in a different AU and not Nightmare’s castle.

so he starts breaking stuff. Because that’s Error’s job. He was mainly trying to locate Aliza because she was the only one there… at first. He got a lot more interested when he realized she had a FEAR soul. Error rarely comes across these, so obviously he’s gonna want one for his collection, right?

Aliza has no idea what to do, because she’s never seen Error before and her main thoughts were something along the lines of “WHO IS THIS.” And it certainly didn’t help when he started actively trying to attack her. She wasn’t used to this, normally people didn’t bother the castle. Aliza ended up hiding out in Nightmare’s quarters, trying to figure out what to do.

then she sees the apples on Nightmare’s desk. She remembers Horror explaining what they were about and why Nightmare was all… goopy… but that was because he had eaten more than one apple, right? And besides… there was someone else in the castle actively trying to kill her and deleting stuff from existence! So she grabbed an apple and stuffed it in her pocket. As a sort of last resort, of course.

oddly enough, it was a sort of judgement-hall area that Error finally managed to string Aliza up. It was then that she pulled out the apple and ate it.

Fast forward past the transformation bit (think Nightmare’s transformation but there’s also fleshy bits involved), and you have a confused and disgusted Error Sans staring at this… thing… it LOOKS like Aliza, sort of… but…

and then it vanished. Error starts frantically looking around because WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT. The Aliza-like THING starts attacking, darting out and knocking Error off his feet before vanishing again. This went on for a good while before Error managed to string her… IT… up again. At that point, she earned her name as Liminal, stabbing her tendrils into the ground and creating her maze attack.

at that point, Error decided he wasn’t dealing with this, and tried to glitch away. Fun fact about Liminal’s maze attack; you can’t teleport out. The attack does drain her quite a bit, but… once you’re in her labyrinth, you’re stuck there until she tires out.

eventually, she did end up tiring out, but not before flinging Error through his own portal.

after that, she kind of just… stared at her hands, sitting down on the floor until the Bad Sanses came back.

I’ll write more later probably.

rate my underverse oc! (Warning, long description.)

LIMINAL; nightmare Aliza.

Originally Horror’s human, ended up eating a dark apple while alone in Nightmare’s castle when Error decided he wanted that kid’s SOUL for his collection. She ate the apple as a sort of last resort, and with her being a FEAR SOUL to begin with, the dark apple immediately bonded with her, turning her into Liminal.

When the others returned, Error was nowhere to be found, and Liminal was sitting in the middle of the room, looking at her hands. She acted mostly the same, only slightly altered by the apple… (Error is fine by the way, she just flung him back through his glitchy portal thing.)

Horror was very concerned for Liminal, and oddly enough so was Nightmare. She seemed physically ok, other than the obvious goopification. She was just stunned for a little bit, that was all.

Liminal acts shy, normally hiding behind pillars and stuff within the castle. She knows everything that happens in the castle, and will know about intruders even before Nightmare himself. She likes Phantom Papyrus, Nightmare, and Horror the best.

In battle, she’s surprisingly aggressive, using a sort of hit-and run tactic where she teleports around and uses tendril spikes to disorient the opponent. If possible, she’ll even create a giant goop maze for the opponent to get lost in, hence the name Liminal.

She looks like a slightly older version of Aliza, but covered in this blackish violet goop, one eye completely obscured. She sports thin, whiplike tendrils and a traditional nightgown. When yawning, spines will crack out of her shoulders and her mouth goes unnaturally wide. This serves no purpose other than to freak people out and unsettle them. Liminal feeds off of those weird uneasy feelings that you get if you’re alone in an area that should have people, the feeling of being watched, and overall backrooms vibes. When not in the castle, she likes hiding out in the forest in Horrortale. Horrortale Papyrus cannot tell the difference between Liminal and Aliza.

Passive abilities; can hold stuff within her goop like a pocket dimension(once she pulled Ink out of her pocket to everyone’s surprise), the yawning thing, teleportation, and the only one who can sneak up on Killer and Horror. (Not Dust, Cross, or Nightmare though. She can’t sneak up on them.)

Attacks; tendril spikes. (Half the fightbox becomes damaging.) Whiplash. (Her main ‘normal’ attack. Note that while using this attack, she also moves her hands around like she’s from Avatar or something.) Face Your Demons. (Purely meant to jumpscare the opponent; blue ‘bone’ area while different attacks play chicken with the soul sprite. None actually hit the soul but it will spook people into moving out of the way.) and finally…

Labyrinth. This move enlarges the fightbox, and Liminal disappears from view. The player then has to navigate their soul through a whole maze, and some areas have attacks that are hidden until a trigger point.

Note that despite these advantages, Liminal actually has pretty low health and will get hit if you time your strikes right.
