“Many people seem to think it foolish, even superstitious, to believe that the world could still change for the better. And it is true that in winter it is sometimes so bitingly cold that one is tempted to say, ‘What do I care if there is a summer; its warmth is no help to me now.’ Yes, evil often seems to surpass good. But then, in spite of us, and without our permission, there comes at last an end to the bitter frosts. One morning the wind turns, and there is a thaw. And so I must still have hope.”
— Vincent Van Gogh

Hello, I-taps mic- thank you for having me here. How did I manage to cure cancer and create a settlement on the moon, all within the last 3 weeks? Well, you see, I had one assignment that I really, really didn't want to do. Yes it's an easy assignment, but that's besides the point. Anyway it's not due yet so I'm going to go go invent the next printing press.

If you don't want to write something by hand, speech-to-text yourself talking about it and edit it to sound better later
(compsci specific) if you have a coding project, you don't even necessarily need to start writing code to start your homework. Read the instructions and mull them over while eating dinner or something, and it'll make later implementation easier
Google "X subject mock exam" and you can find some great math/physics resources on youtube instead of trying to determine what the professor thought was important to know
The study tips that are suggested:
Make sure you have no distractions in your workspace!
Break your work into chunks so it's not as overwhelming
Try not to cram before tests
Get a good night's rest so you're refreshed during your study sessions!
The study tips that work:
ChatGPT is plagiarism if you use it to write your papers, but its not cheating to summarize your readings. Reread the original text to make sure you're actually understanding the material
Text to speech your textbooks to turn them into lectures
Have a separate video game save for every lecture you have, so when you go into that save you're automatically thinking about your lecture material
Make a playlist on spotify for when you take tests so you feel incredibly cool walking into the "final battle"

marine biology is so scary because it’s such a small field. i was giving a talk on cetaceans and afterward a woman approached me with her husband and she said, “you did very well. [husband’s name] actually pioneered the research and published the first paper on that. We were very impressed by you.”
Which is such a scientific interpretation/public education win I will cherish forever but also for the rest of my life any time I give a talk I will be haunted by the knowledge that the world’s leading expert who literally discovered/invented the topic might be in the room,
which is like, the opposite of what you’re supposed to do for stage fright. In fact I never used to experience stage fright but now I will.

"I waved at someone and they were waving to someone behind me!" Oh no! Your first reaction was to happily and politely greet another human being, whom you were slightly mistaken about! The tragedy!

I hate that I have such a well honed "how much time it'll take to do an assignment" meter, because I can never get into potentially difficult homework early. The smart decision maker I surely possess in my brain: "But what if I run into something I legitimately don't know how to do and it takes more time than I thought?" The part of me that knows I can start an assignment at 11:58 and come out unscathed: "You won't."

Me before applying: graduate programs are hard to get into so I probably wont get accepted to anything bc I could barely read through the app requirements Me after applying: well the masters programs must be very easy to get into because I got into them. And if I got into them that means that none of these schools are selective. this makes perfect sense.
The utter insanity of the juxtaposition where I feel like I did very poorly on all of my grad apps, and got into 4/5 of the masters programs. What reality is my brain living in
