Survivor References, Vol. 1

Hey folks! If you've been keeping up with my last art posts, you've probably already seen these. They're a set of concept sketches for a still in-development project, and though it's a long way from public release, I wanted to share some information about it! More below the cut.

Eda's design is based heavily on these concepts for Watching and Dreaming by Luz Batista, especially the second one. Her outfit is intended to be more practical than stylish, though the cape is absolutely something she wears to honor her old maroon dress. Her shoulder pauldron is fashioned from the armor of a Coven Scout Captain, salvaged from the ruins of Police Precinct 206 in Latassia. King's mom and sister got to have cloaks, so he decided he wanted one too! His cloak is hand-made, which Eda had stitched together from a collection of old, unused blankets. The Golden Pendant is removed from his collar and used to hold the cloak together. Luz recovered her old Witches Wool cloak not long after the Day of Unity, and has been wearing it since due to the heightened protection it offers, hence the wear and tear it's undergone. 

Now, I'm going to preface that this project is still in very early development, still in the scripting phase, and everything regarding it is subject to change. However, I do want to share some information about it. The working and likely final title is The Children of Hope. It's a story set in a divergent Alternate Universe, where King is never knocked down the stairs of the bridge, and thus, never meets the collector. As a consequence, the Day of Unity isn't stopped. It's a very dark universe compared to cannon, but not all is so bleak - four years after the Day of Unity, Luz is given a vision of a powerful, incredibly complex spell. One that can send memories back through time, comparable to something like Time Travel. Using this spell, she and her surviving friends-slash-family are able to return to the start of Season One, and completely flip the playing field in their favor. 

Again, I don't have much to share about the Alternate Universe - I'm still planning it out, after all! - but I'm excited to put more work into it over time, in between other projects. I hope, when it's eventually developed enough to warrant a release, that you'll enjoy reading it! Until then, I'll share any big content updates on it over time. Character Doodles (Vol. 12)

Been a while, hasn't it? Motivation is being a bitch right now, so I haven't been drawing as much as I'd like, but I finally managed to actually finish these doodles.

Top Right is the first one I did, and it's specifically based on one of the writing prompts on my prompts document - a sort of The Last of Us take on the Human Realm, but without the zombies, with the doodle being affectionately titled Survivor Luz. Bottom Left is the second one I did, and it's actually a redraw of an old artwork, specifically one of the doodles on Oops I Started Liking Another Ship.

Similarly, the Top Right doodle is another redraw, this time of Playin' Guitar - and my god, I did not realize how terrible that one was until I looked back at it. Honestly, it almost seems insulting to call it a redraw. The bottom right doodle is a little Gaster, keeping up my tradition of using Gaster as a space filler. 

I don’t know if this was intentional or not, but I love the way Vanessa looks in that picture: Tired, but happy and full of hope for the future.

That was intentional! I don't want to spoil too much of what happens in the story this is from, since it's still being written, but this takes place the morning after Vanessa had a relapse in her mental health. Sitting in a park, eating ice cream, and listening to Gregory talk about how excited he is for the future helps her immensely.

I'm glad you liked the stories, and thank you so much for the kind words!! Three Stars Shine in thy Night Sky is one of my favorite universes I've made over the years, especially with the development I've done behind the scenes after I published Fear Stops None, Salvation Seeker. I have a lot planned, even casting aside the rewrite I mentioned in my latest art post, and I can't wait to share it when it's done!

Midnight Blues on a Winter Afternoon

Technically, this is concept art for a scene from a future fanfic under the umbrella of Three Stars Shine in thy Night Sky - though, with a rewrite project of Fear Stops None, Salvation Seeker under way, it might be a while. I've had it sitting around for a few months now, though I've gone back several times to adjust and make minor changes.

I figured that, if the story's gonna be delayed for some time, I might as well release this, especially since the story this scene is from is still in the drafting phase. I'm rather happy with how it turned out. This is the first time I've definitively drawn Vanessa, though I've made some incomplete sketches and doodles with Gregory before.

Chapter Seven/Nine Production Sketches [DotWO]

A collection of sketches, made while planning and writing both Chapter Seven and Chapter Nine of Daughter of the Wild One. 

Drawing baby King and baby Luz was an absolute treat, they're just so adorable. I've never taken the time to draw Eda before, even in the unreleased sketches I made while planning out another project (which likely won't see the light of day for a while), so that was a learning experience. The outfit ideas I went through are inspired from various sources and different outfits that the characters wore, though I tried to put unique spins on each of them that give them some diversity in my universe. 

I'm sorry about the lack of proper, fully-drawn pieces, I've simply been really fixated on developing Daughter of the Wild One, and that's taken nearly all of my creative energy. I hope, even if you're not interested in reading the fic, that you'll enjoy the work I've put into these development sketches. 

Chapter Six Production Sketches [DotWO]

A collection of sketches made while working on Daughter of the Wild One, Chapter Six. 

The leftmost one features my design for Harbinger, a shady dealer of all trinkets and trade in the Night Market that we see featured prominently in the middle of the chapter. The upper right is a general idea of what Lilith looks like after she adorns the Concealment Stone. The bottom right guy is mentioned one time, and only once. He holds no purpose, but I thought it'd be funny to sketch him.

The Dreemurr Siblings

Frisk, Asriel, and Chara from an old Alternate Universe I still have floating around in my head. More info under the cut.

Over two years, and Undertale: Anomaly is still just a concept in my head that I haven't written yet. Not that I don't still plan to make it into a reality, I certainly have enough forgotten drafts and story planning documents to justify my lack of public progress on it. But, for now, I thought, why not draw my favorite kiddos again? While I was at it, I redesigned the logo; I can't recall entirely, but I'm fairly sure the old version used some clip art I downloaded from Google, so I decided to fix it up and make it a little more unique.

For those who weren't around back when I used to have a story titled Freedom public on my DeviantArt account, I'll offer some context. Undertale: Anomaly is an Alternate Universe where Frisk went through many resets in a vain attempt to save Chara and Asriel. Eventually, they have a rather brilliant idea, and after getting Asriel back to his temporary form, all three of them offer their determination towards another reset. This, in turn, merges their souls into one, and preforms a reset so powerful that even they fail to retain their memories. The idea is to take the more religious spin on the story of the Angel that Deltarune has, shove that into Undertale, and write an interesting concept around that. Like I said above, it will be made some day, but not yet.

Daughter of the Wild One, Chapter Five: We'll All Be Just Fine

Chapter Summary: Luz gets a nice snack in the form of raw meat and makes yet another friend, while Gus absolutely geeks out over the differences between Humans and Witches. Willow’s just happy to be there. Elsewhere, Edalyn and Principal Bump both learn that they might just have more in common than they’d previously thought. Tied off with a visit to the Super Duper Secret Room her Mamá made when she was a kid, Luz thinks it ended up being a very good day.

Character Doodles (Vol. 11)

Not a lot in this installment, just a pair of drawings I drew back in October. I'm pretty happy with how they came out, and just never got around to posting it until now.

So I drew this, like, almost a year ago and just. Never posted it, apparently?

DotWO - Chapter Four: Name on the Dotted Line

Chapter Summary: Principal Bump and Edalyn hold a debate on how to properly ensure the safety of children who wish to combine magicks. Luz continues her tour across the school, makes a brand new friend, and begins to form a plan to help said friend. Willow learns a lot about the strange, new, but very nice kid who’s going to come to her school. Eda would do anything to let her daughter thrive, even if that means taking a trip down memory lane with a mop and bucket.

Note: This chapter was planned to release on the 19th, but in honor of reaching 200 Kudos (thank you to all my wonderful readers), I decided to go ahead and release it a few days early! I present to you, the second chapter in the Hexside Enrollment Arc! I sincerely hope you all enjoy this chapter, this arc has been incredibly fun to write. Also, happy Valentines Day!

A little doodle based on a writing prompt I wrote myself in my notes doc. What that prompt exactly is, and the writing I want to do based on it, I'll share at a different time, since I'm still planning it out. Not to mention, I'm pretty deep in the writing process for Daughter of the Wild One, so it'll be a while before anything comes of it. For now, have a Luz whose survived the apocalypse. 

DotWO - Chapter Three: Give Me a Chance to Shine

I'm not dead! I promise you, my lack of activity has genuinely been me just juggling multiple projects, as well as wanting to meet certain goal posts before I start sharing what I've written. I'm nearly done with drafting up this entire arc, and since I've reached that point of certainty, I felt comfortable sharing the first of what I hope will only be a three chapter arc, but could very well become four, since I have a chronic writing problem. I hope you enjoy this chapter, and though I can't promise when the next one will come, I can promise that it will.

Chapter Summary: It’s been quite a long time since she’s stood before the building that now sits before her. The thing is, she isn’t here for herself; she’s got a young daughter, and that child dreams of roaming those same halls with friends at her side and chaos in her wake. She’d do whatever it takes to ensure Luz can thrive, and if this is what needs to be done, then she’ll happily do it.
