pretty good apology! very post-ned try guys inspired i think, lol. which honestly is smart - the try guys apology was one of the best received in youtube history.
the "we didn't want to lay people off" bit of the video sort of reaffirms my suspicion that they haven't been managing their finances and scaling well. honestly a little surprised they even mentioned that being a possibility. even a hair more detail than that could have revealed some ugly things about their management of the company overall. not in an evil way, just in a "three guys with hubris and no business experience" way. it seems to me they really did want to make big-budget content without truly looking at the budget.

i feel like most heartbreak high critisms are based on wanting perfect people and the show has been clear about this being characters that are all flawed, they're humans.
there's messy miscommunications, there's selfishness and there's teenage stupidity.
they're not static, they learn about some things and get better about those, but might drop the ball on things they were good at previously bcs their focus has been taken away.
but teenagers are messy and get caught up in emotions all the fucking time. it's not surprising? like is it just me ? bcs it feels like most commentary i have seen on the show are missing that

Green stans comparing Alicent with Visenya it's giving the same energy as Green stans saying that Visenya would've sided with the greens.
The delusion.

Criston was an eyewitness to Rhaenyra once again being humiliated and abused by Alicent, abuse that lasted for years, but as he walked down the same corridor, the same path where Rhaenyra was bleeding out, he could still spew nothing but venom.
And you know what makes me happy?
Tumblr media
Criston's death will not be heroic, it will not be suitable for song, it will not be chivalrous. Team Green laments that it is an undignified death and he should die in a duel like a warrior and a knight.
No, he shouldn't.
His death is exactly as it should be. Unworthy. He was ignored, his claims and pleas ignored, his men would die, and he was shot with a crossbow like a wild game animal because no one even got dirt on their sword.
Criston did not deserve to die worthy of a knight because he was not a true knight. A real knight does not oppress children, does not kill innocents, does not act shamefully. Even Jamie bloody Lannister understood that.
Criston will die as he lived - undignified for a knight.
And that makes me happy :)

"Where is duty? Where is sacrifice?" is not some iconic gotcha moment the Green stans think it is. It shows how enraged Alicent is because, in her eyes, she has done her duty, she has sacrificed herself, and it still never brought her satisfaction. From her perspective, she has done everything right, and she is still miserable. Instead of questioning the system that set her up for the failure, she focuses her rage on Rhaenyra, who, in Alicent eyes, hasn't suffered enough (she fails to acknowledge Rhaenyra sacrificing her own freedom of choice and doing her duty by marrying Laenor).

Y’all realize that Rhaenyra was a DRUNK TEENAGER the night that she and Cole fucked right?? DRUNK TEENAGER and GROWN MAN (who took vows and if he really gave a damn about those vows, he’d have turned around, walked out and closed the door behind him) if anyone was a victim- it wouldn’t be the SOBER ADULT MAN, it would be the DRUNK TEENAGER!!!! Y’all really saying with your whole chest that the obviously DRUNK teenager forced the SOBER MAN into fucking her??? When that same man had been eye-fucking her for years????
Also, Alicent getting angry w/ Rhaenyra cuz she didn’t tell Alicent she got fucked is hypocritical because Alicent sure wasn’t in a rush to tell Rhaenyra about those nightly to visits to the king- you know, Rhaenyra’s FATHER. The same visits that started the night that the body of Rhaenyra’s MOTHER was burned??? The nightly visits that would’ve had Alicent being called a ‘loose woman’ and a ‘social-climbing whore’ if she’d been seen even once. And no, I don’t care that the king told her not to tell. I’d give anything to read a fic where those visits had been discovered.

givemelibertypleasw is focusing too much on show fanon, not what’s actually in the books.
Both Criston and Otto made wild accusations about her killing her siblings but Rhaenyra was ready to forgive them because she saw them as victims of Hightower ambition. She only turned on them AFTER Luke’s murder, not before.
People forget how damaging the tarnish of kinslaying is in Westerosi culture. Rhaenyra would never start her Queenship with this because it would make people turn against her.
Daemon’s shown to be a wild card in the show because the dumbass writers think passive women = feminism. In the books he’s Rhaenyra’s attack dog, he doesn’t kill without her direct order e.g. Vaemond Velaryon. So no, he wouldn’t kill her siblings because like I said kinslaying is political suicide and Rhaenyra made no indication she blames her siblings for her crown being usurped.
imo I think she would still be against kinslaying despite Luke’s death if Aemond had been punished, instead Aegon II threw him a feast. How else would a grieving mother react?
She wouldn’t kill them but she’s also smart enough to know keeping them around will have long term repercussions, especially for Jace. What I can see her do is have Daeron and Aemond sent to the Wall or to the Citadel to become Septons/Maesters that way they automatically lose their claim. She’d do the same to Jaehaerys and Maelor when they come of age. As for Aegon he would be put under house arrest, similar to what Baelor I had done to his three sisters. Helaena isn’t a threat by herself and Jaehaera could be easily married off to Joffrey.
Point is Rhaenyra had options when it came to her siblings that didn’t involve kinslaying. Options she would’ve gone through with if it wasn’t for Luke and Jace’s death and the Greens subsequent reaction to said deaths.
i don’t have anything to add, this right here is exactly it.

Hey! I have to say that I truly enjoy all of your posts and as a fellow TB supporter I wanted to share with you one of my most recent debates with a TG and see what you think about it.
We were talking about something else when suddenly the topic changed to HOTD. Now, this is not the first time I hear this nonsense but they began by saying that they are TG because “Rhaenyra is an entitled b*tch” (as if a chosen heir wasn’t entitled to their inheritance). And I couldn’t help but think that TG comes up with a lot of BS to try to diminish Rhaenyra’s rightful claim to her inheritance and justify the usurpation of her throne.
What’s funny is that their entire speech revolved around “Rhaenyra should’ve done so much more to deserve the throne” or “She didn’t prepare to rule” (which she actually did but they were definitely not ready for that conversation).
The point is they think that Rhaenyra is unsuited to rule but, what is their option? Aegon? Pfff! They think Rhaenyra is unsuited for the throne and their option is Aegon? What a joke! Now, the real question is: what did Aegon even do to deserve the throne? Whenever I ask this to a TG, they always evade this question. They always change the subject to something that’s completely irrelevant to the topic of discussion. But they never answer the question. Why? Because they don’t have an appropriate answer for this.
I proceeded to ask this question to that person from TG and insisted on getting an answer and do you know what they answered? That whether Aegon was suited to rule or not was irrelevant and not the point. Like, they were trying to justify Aegon usurping Rhaenyra’s throne and they still think that whether or not he was suited to rule was irrelevant? I mean, that is the whole point. If you don’t think that the ruler from the opposite team is fit to rule, then at the very least, you should consider the one you support to be better for the role.
But no, according to them, Rhaenyra is not a good option to rule the Seven Kingdoms, but it doesn’t matter if Aegon is a good option or not.
Thank you, that's nice to hear :)
While going through all these discussions, I noticed the arguments that were always repeated: Rhaenyra did not deserve to be the heir; Rhaenyra has not shown herself worthy of the Throne; Rhaenyra fled to Dragonstone and abandoned Viserys; it doesn't matter that Rhaenyra is the heir because she's boring; Rhaenyra shouldn't rule because she's not a true feminist; it doesn't matter that Rhaenyra is a woman, only that she is a stupid woman; it doesn't matter that Aegon is not suitable either, because he will have good advisors (Alicent and Otto...)
It all comes down to what Otto said - it doesn't matter that Rhaenyra would even be Jaehaerys reborn, she won't take the throne. Because she is a woman. And all the repeated accusations above boil down to the fact that she is a woman and Aegon is not, even if people pretend that it is not about misogyny at all.
Rhaenyra was a cupbearer from an early age. She participated in Small Council meetings and presented sensible solutions to matters. As heir to the throne and Princess of Dragonstone, she moved to Dragonstone to learn to rule on her own. She was familiar with the affairs of the capital. She did what every heir to the throne did. But somehow, she was the only one expected to PROVE that she DESERVED the throne. Hmm... I wonder why... It certainly wasn't related to the fact that she was a woman. After all, then people who say so would be openly sexists, right...?
TG stans try to explain themselves by saying that if the Greens had not stolen the throne, Rhaenyra would have murdered them and the kingdom would have rebelled. When Rhaenyra and Daemon wanted to negotiate at the beginning, and Otto had a plan to murder her entire family. If Rhaenyra had not returned to Dragonstone with her family and stayed as Alicent insisted, she would have been murdered. And if the throne were not stolen, who would rebel? More than 2/3 of the kingdom supported Rhaenyra, 53 houses vs 25 + the bribed Triarchy.
If someone prefers a drunken rapist without a shred of knowledge or preparation to a prepared heir, and only because the heir is a woman, he is simply a sexist who tries to hide it under a "but"
Additionally, they forget that although they claim that Viserys's peaceful rule is only thanks to Otto and Alicent,... Otto was released for over 10 years. For over 10 years, the Hand was Lyonel Strong, who, with his advice and approach, proved that he was worth more to the kingdom than Otto and Alicent combined.

Yesssss, greens want her to bend over backwards to prove herself to be heir when no male heir would ever be expected to
I see a lot of people on here say Rhaenyra was the better option for the iron throne merely because she was chosen as heir but really, what did Rhaenyra do to prove that she would be a good queen?? I’m team green, but I’m also aware that Aegon wasn’t the best choice for the throne however, as heir, Rhaenyra made no effort to actually gain support from other houses or actually try to rule in her fathers stead when he was sick. She instead fled to Dragonstone. I’m sure that if she stayed in Kings Landing and played her cards right, the people of the realm would’ve wanted Rhaenyra on the throne. Hell, even if she stayed in Dragonstone and made an effort to know her kingdom the realm would’ve wanted her more than Aegon.

i think the second you start putting together a list of the writers and what their gender/sexuality identities are for the sake of proving the ofmd writers room isn’t as queer as you think it should be you’re already in too deep. the fact that an izzy fan did all that AND went even FURTHER and just openly assumed everyone was cishet if they couldn’t immediately find evidence otherwise is beyond parody. i can’t even find it in me to be upset or anything i’m just amazed at how little self-awareness some ppl have. how do you type all that up and post it without ever stopping to think “wait is this a shitty thing i’m doing” like babe what is WRONG with you

i am not allowing you people rewrite hbomber into the villain and make the racist, misogynist, transphobic plagiarist who glorified nazis into the victim. did you fucking all forget that james had a literal recorded history of stealing from people who were less privileged than him and whenever people tried to civilly talk to him in private he immediately spun the narrative to harassment campaigns? sorry he couldn’t take what he fucking dealt.
tell me. what other fucking option was there? if going the full way and making a public outcry was the wrong decision what were people supposed to fucking do????

After reading the interview CW did I’m further instated on the opinion that I could not care less about knowing the details of celeb personal relationships unless something really bad/illegal is going on. However, jumping on either to paint the bad guy is just wrong. Separating for wanting different things and recognising that you are no longer right for each other is one of the most common and normal reasons for breakups, most divorced couples I know site that form of reason. Both are valid in their experiences, him taking in a big opportunity that would provide not just security for him, but for his children and their future is valid, her not wanting to uproot her life and career away from her home is valid.
It’s a rock and a hard place, and people are flawed in their relationships. People saying she implies an affair seem to be one who are connecting random dots to support something they already think happened. They work together well professionally, which is more to be said than many other couples.
This moral scandal over a private divorce that has proven to work out for those involved is just annoying, we have woody Allen marrying his daughter and this is what people get upset about

Chelsea and Taika sound like two grown adults who realized they weren't right for each other anymore and divorced. Happens every day. No idea why it's such a big deal when Taika does it.
Whatever happened during their marriage, Taika does seem to have realized he was unfair to her and has promoted some of her more recent work the rare times he's on SM. He's really behind the translation project she and his sister are working on, for example.
I don't think Taika was wanting a "dutiful wife" to follow him around while he was filming and I do think she was being a little unfair to him about that. Asking for his family to join him when he'd be away filming for months on end so he could spend time with them is not a bad thing, especially with young children he otherwise wouldn't get to see much. Especially since Taika has said he wants to be a better father than he ever had.
I also think her putting this out into the world right now was not wise. It's already leading to other clickbait news sites ripping into him for cheating on her, since she "supposedly confirms" it here. They've been separated since 2018 and both have moved on, so why this is making such a big splash on these supposed "news" sites in 2024 I have no idea. I do not think Chelsea said any of this with malicious intent at all though. It just seems like a regular interview that's getting way more attention for things it shouldn't. Instead of her life and career, everyone's instead just using this little bit as more fodder to go after Taika, which is very unfair to both of them.
yeah i don't think chelsea did anything wrong, she's perfectly entitled to tell her side of the story, but i agree that it's a shame that people who weren't involved can't be more normal about it
they broke up because they were between a rock and a hard place. there was no situation where taika could take the job AND chelsea could focus on her career AND the whole family could live together. it's completely reasonable that chelsea didn't want to give up on her work or move her kids away from aotearoa, and it's completely reasonable that taika wanted to not be separated from his family while he was working, and it's completely reasonable for him to have accepted the job anyway because it was a life changing amount of money. there isn't a bad guy
the thing i find really weird is people who will go on and on about him being a bad father and how they feel sorry for his kids. because they don't know him. they've never met him or his kids, they have no idea how often he sees them or what kind of stuff they do together or how they interact with him. and they're acting as if they're coming from a place of genuine compassion etc when imo it's actually really offensive to be speculating wildly about how he's a shit dad and his kids must be so unhappy etc. because then you're not just speculating about a famous guy in the public eye, you're also speculating about two kids who are not celebrities and have a right to privacy.
why are you sitting on reddit thinking about how some 8 year old you have nothing to do with on the other side of the world feels about their parents' divorce? wrong'n behaviour to be honest
