The wind grows chill as something in the world turns, the days grow shorter and the nights longer, the cast of sunlight changes. Lights burn in every house, and the scent of chimney smoke fills the air. It is October 1st.
In honor of Halloween season, I give to you a list of all the vampire books I own. Note that I have not read all of them but am very much looking forward to sinking my teeth into some.
We've had a massive storm roll through. After the sun set, there was this eerie calm, before more rain rushed in. I caught a few photos of this Rose of Sharon in the back garden before the second storm rolled in.
I am currently halfway through this book, but I doubt my rating will lower by the end. After my first reading, my rating of this book was abysmally low as the narrative felt far too derivative of The Lord of the Rings, to the point I kept comparing characters and scenarios in every scene. However, since I have joined the ranks of Dungeons and Dragons players, my second reading has been far more enjoyable. Though still derivative, as much of fantasy media is, it feels familiar to me in the way many personal D&D games have been. I find myself chuckling at the obvious failures of perception or insight, the sudden skirmishes that are over in seconds, and the over-explanation of lore that only a game master could provide. Unfortunately, outdated language and racial perceptions do unsurprisingly crop up here, as remains the issue for most fantasy media. If this is something that would ruin your experience, be wary. In terms of being the first in a series, this book is a weak entry. But if you have a sense of humor and do not take your tastes too seriously, you may find this an enjoyable (if very long) romp.
idk i just wanna sit in a dark library at night in the candlelight wearing an oversized sweater and exchange glances over my book to my lover while the rain pours outside and feel at peace with the world
