The Office had a lot of great love stories, all of which felt very rooted in reality despite being on a sitcom. I love Jim and Pam— I really do! Their love for each other still feels very real all these years later when I rewatch the show, flaws and all. And when Holly and Michael found their way back to one another and moved away to start a life together, it was beautiful to witness. Kelly and Ryan were entertaining and, as silly as they may have seemed, they felt like a cautionary tale. I think we’ve all had someone who we’ve liked but they were bad for us—very bad for us—and it was hard to quit them! I know I have. But I don’t think they were the worse couple on the show. I actually enjoyed their chaos. If the writers hadn’t given Andy 8 different personalities, things between him and Erin may have been able to work. I feel bad saying it but I just could never fully root for them; although, when Andy said “I’m so sorry that we have not loved each other at the same time” it was one of the most honest and relatable quotes from the entire series. It makes we wish the writers could’ve given Andy the character development and arcs he deserved. And I really felt like I wanted to see him find genuine love after everything Angela put him through. You’d think I’d dislike Angela for this, but she’s actually one of my favorite Office characters. She fascinates me and I think her character growth was great. And to tell you the truth, Angela and Dwight’s love story remains my favorite on the show. I’m just so invested in it—still. The entire time I was watching the office. I knew that Jim and Pam would get together eventually; however, I always felt like there was a chance that Dwight and Angela might not. So maybe the steaks with them being so different made me like them a bit more. (Am I crazy?) Like, I could write an entire essay on it. Their wedding in the series finale felt very purposeful and rewarding to watch as a fan, too.
