What's this, Cassadee AFK Journey fanart? 🤨
Ughh... sometimes hate myself for not drawing enough and ESPECIALLY not drawing my own thing--- BUT I was stolen by the colours and pretty designs and pretty style of the game 👉 👈 I've used it to cope with my recent endeavours 👉 👈
They're also having a fanart contest? So that was like the initial motivator and reason... But apparently, you have to post your work on insta or twitter so i ain't getting those participation rewards am i? NAAAH it will be FINE! They said 'should' not 'has to' >:)
In the end it's just in game currency--- maybe the real prize was the art made along the way! And BOY do i like it :>> ...kinda... then i saw the time it took me to do ._.
Another reason was that--- i have an assignment to record a video and cut it and my procrastinating ass concluded that reccording myseld drawing and then cutting 16 hours of drawing footage mixed with chatting, playing videogame, watching youtube and occasional breaks (in which i didn't stop recording) was a good idea ^^"

Ok so since there are more version of the sso story which all share some key elements like certain events that happen
What are your oc's "canon events" that should/do happen in every timeline/au you have for them?
For Montana it's her moms dying and her magic getting corrupted through some event (it doesn't have to be bc she's trying to rescue Justin since she does have the corruption in the Catherine lives au, too, where Justin doesn't go to meet Mr. Sands)

... I think that the Wild Weave was made by Aideen SPECIFICALLY as a prison for Garnok, because it would align with what we know and have heard of Aideen in the game. (In one instance, Ydris says that Aideen connected Jorvik and Pandoria by "healing" Jorvik and the legend of Aideen goes that she brought life to the island. I think that Alder also says that she planted the Sentinel tree to protect them, but don't quote me on that.) It would also make sense from the perspective that it's existed outside of the traveling network, it's just what the magòi have developed as well as the witches later on.
Saying this doesn't really add anything, to the theory, but--- I ain't gonna lie, mate, that last sentence is on point in every universe. No matter which way the story goes, the Soul Riders will mess up, it's a canon event.
The Trees are part of the Squid's Plan! (major main quest spoilers)
After spending way too long playing through the new quests in SSO, I've come up with a theory. A real long theory. That the Life Wardens are siding with both Dark Riders and Soul Riders in order to repair the Wild Weave and reconnect with one another, inadvertently helping the Dark Riders to free Garnok.
Lemme explain.
This is the map in the Fort Maria portal room. It shows the seven major Life Wardens that we know of, but it also gives us some clues about the story going forwards.
First, the obvious.
Yeah, there's no way that little illustration in the corner is anything but Ol' Squiddy's Tentacles. But we knew he was imprisoned between worlds, in neither Pandoria nor Jorvik - so finding out he's been chilling in the Wild Weave, or a location only accessible by it, makes sense.
Next, when it comes to putting a name to each of these trees I think most are fairly self explanatory. We've known about most of these trees for years, even if they've never been a part of the story, such as with the Ice Tree by the Stonecutter's Vault in Dino Valley, and the Unnamed Tree way up near where you finish the Red String Trail in the Firgrove Mountains.
Where it gets interesting is with the two trees I couldn't place; such as the one between the Sentinel Tree in Mistfall and the Ice Tree in Dino Valley; and the one on the far left, signified by floating islands.
In my mind it makes sense to have a couple of the trees sprouting in Pandoria, since the two worlds are connected by the tree roots - and the only floating rocks I know about are in Pandoria - but who knows.
Overlaying the normal map on top of these locations makes it pretty clear that they're supposed to correspond to real map locations. The only anomaly is the Ice Tree and Sentinel Tree, whose positions are reversed on the portal map.
What's interesting is that Garnok, if I'm following the map's logic correctly, would hold exactly the same positioning as the Dark Core Oil Rig.
(For context, we know the Rig's position from old skybox errors that used to show it when stood in the right spots, some maps from the books (which I know aren't always canon anymore, but hey it's the best we've got) and, most recently, if the player looks South when entering Devil's Gap, thanks to that little black hole we helped Sunshine open up recently.)
Where am I going with all this? Okay!
Firstly, we know that the trees have helped the Dark Riders in the past. The Life Wardens have repeatedly said the only loyalty they have is to each other, and quite frankly after what the Jarl did, who can blame them. (Thanks Jon).
This is going into massive spoiler territory for the most recent quest as of 17/1/24 so if you haven't completed it yet, flee.
The Sentinel Tree in the Wildwoods has been corrupted by Pandorian magic for a while now. But in the newest quest, we saw Sabine using the Runesmasher to break into it and create a portal to free Erissa.
Side tangent about the hammer:
For those who didn't play the Halloween quests, basically one of the Jarl's servants got the ice valley smith to make a hammer that could destroy runestones, broke one open, and a Vala witch gave him immortality. Aka. Sive (or an identical Vala witch), who is deeply connected with the Life Wardens and who probably gave Sabine the hammer when we saw her in Devil's Gap, has no problem with this action.
The Life Wardens, or at the very least Sive, their ally, wanted the portal opened and Erissa freed.
Why?
To re-grow the Wild Weave.
Assuming Garnok's position on my map was correct, the only way the Dark Riders now have to free him is to go directly through the Wild Weave.
And since we're good people who like nature... yeahhh the Soul Riders are totally going to end up healing some trees and inadvertently opening the path to Garnok wide open.
Oh yeah. We're going to mess up royally.

I mean it really could be for SSO over all, right? Like it's not treated that way in cannon, but the Soul riders are pawns in the duel of cosmic beings and the guardians time and time again give their lives in aideen's name to be reborn and die again and so on. I've been kinda stuck viewing the plot in a darker tone though so umm... I am kinda biased xD
i looooove characters who are sacrificial lamb coded. characters who have never lived for themselves. characters born to be a tool, a weapon, a sacrifice, all of the above. a character raised by the heroes to save the world, at any expense, even their own health, even their own life. a character raised by the villains to end the world, at any expense, even their own health, even their own life. characters who are denied personhood so they can be used as tools instead. characters who never even had a chance to be people because they were shaped into something else from the moment they were born. characters who were born to die.

Non-human SSO designs dump
Welp--- Today I drew the umm... how I imagine the aliens and extradimensional beings in SSO :>
Or I mean... disclaimer xD i CAN'T stress enough how much more i would like to know about the Dark Riders to draw their designs properly IF THEY'RE ALIENS TwT like are they even the same type of alien?? No clue alright--- so i decided to picture how i feel it ^^ i'll make notes to it accordingly--- *cough cough* tada!
Now I know what you're thinking, it's a bit empty, it's a bit muddled because of how small it is--- which is because i made the canvas with the intention to compare the size to something else---
My design opinion for a long time about Garnok was that he is too fleshy of an alien--- if Aideen brought life to Jorvik, she's the embodiment of it... so i decided to redesign Garnok into something really "out of this world"--- a 2D puddle of shapes in a 3D environment :>
His generals kind of mimic that design like... they look like their human selves but if you were to put them in a similar environment as Garnok is in, they would start to dematerialise too :D
I also noted in the dark riders post that i didn't like that Garnok is so pink (since--- Aideen's magic is also coded in pink so unless they wind up to be the same entity or something like Marika and Radagon and i am making a fool of myself here xD) so i added a bit more colour to him--- like i think it might be that the shapes are starting to catch pink due to Pandorian energy xD
Oh and speaking of Pandoria...
Since Ydris is really the only pandorian we know to date (except for Zee but i couldn't land on good shapes for her ^^) i kinda had to jur reverse engineer this design. Like we know pandorian's have masks and the only creatures we've seen in pandoria were shadow-seekers and those cliché manta rays--- so i added a bit of both to my design... I think i'll be using this as my default for designing pandorians in the future (i have an OC, wink wink, nudge nudge ;3)
It is very likely bro will just be a masked humanoid in pandoria, but i really like to think of Pandorians as beings UNRESTRICTED BY SHAPE OR FORM and such xD
I would really love to do something more with these designs i had in my head for a while but erm... this will have to do for now ^^"
I'd love to hear opinions of these--- are they good? are they bad? are they ugly? xD And what's your take on the creature design for them? Idk, i have read neither of the books so... i'd love to hear the take of someone who has and has some inside info on this 👀
