You listen to me, and you listen good. I’m sick and fucking tired of you trying to get in between me and what’s rightfully mine. If you so much as fucking look in my direction again, I’ll gouge your eyes out and force feed them to you. Do you understand me?
An impoverished elder has more in common with you and your struggles than a fellow gen xer or millennial or gen z who coasts through life on inherited wealth and privilege.
The reason we think of elders as inherently conservative is because all the progressive and marginalized elders are either dead, or still being systematically silenced.
Incidentally, perhaps we should LISTEN to the elders who have been fighting for positive change since well before we were all born. Maybe we should learn from them and build on the movements they started. Maybe we don’t actually have to reinvent the damn wheel every ten years.
yeah yeah yeah mortifying ordeal of being known and all that but sometimes a friend mentions something about you that you didn’t think was noticeable and it feels like your heart is being cradled in their hands
