A scene from a story I’m writing
The sun rose waking Vladimer, he always enjoyed the felling of waking up with the morning. He stretched his arms above his head filling the gentle breath of wind toss his hair about and pass through his body. He looked over to the brownish-gray rock where the sack of essentials sat debating whether or not he should start making breakfast. He decided he could start with a simple meal of eggs and bread, so reaching into the sack to grab the bread and pan, his fingers brushed against the cold metallic blade of Ryuu’s dagger. Vladimer brought it out and examined every little detail of the simple weapon, from the rigged blade to the intricate curves creating the dragon shaped hilt.
“We will fix this, I swear” Vladimer thought aloud putting the dagger back as he felt a pair of arms wrap around his back, knowing all too well that they belonged to Una. She was always there to help the others fell better, but because of this it never seemed like she needed comfort as well. Only Vladimer could fell her shaking as her tears soaked through his cloak and could tell she needed reassurance.
“We’re going to get him back right?” The sobbing girls said between hiccups tightening the hug.
If only they had someone with knowledge of anything that was happening right now. At was all just a big explosion of crazy unknown events. Vladimer breathed in the soothing scent of spring and the rain from last night.
Without warning Vladimer stood up and walked a little towards the dense forest before turning back to Una giving her a small smile. “Just getting some eggs and berries.” He said gently and then walking away. That girl was something else, when he was with her he felt at peace, but he couldn’t focus on that right now he had to find a way to save his friend.
“You seem troubled Mr. elf” a disembodied voice spoke causing Vladimer to turn around swiftly, only to find no one. Vladimer thought it was just his mind messing with him when he heard the voice again calling for him. There wasn’t anything unsettling about the voice, in fact it was that of a child but the only living thing around was a goat. Well a goat that was actually a young half-ling. The girl stood up reviling herself to be about ten of eleven and wearing the ornaments of the knowledge keepers that were rumored to be completely gone.
“Um hi, were you talking to me?” Vladimer asked confusion evident on his face. Who was this girl and why in the world dose she have the attire of the knowledge keepers?
“Well you are the only other person in this area, are you not.” she responded in an ‘isn’t it obvious’ tone. She deferentially had the attitude of a young girl, that was for sure, but Vladimer wasn’t to surprised as this is how is youngest sister acted, so dealing with her won’t be much of a challenge.
“Why come to me, not to be rude but aren't your kind anti-social?” Vladimer integrated hopping to get answers.
“Well yes, but you need help and I can’t just set back and do nothing.” The half-ling said tugging on her twin braids. Vladimer just nodded signaling he understood.
“Let’s start with introductions, I’m Fila the last of the knowledge keepers. And you Mr. elf?”
“Vladimer, so you can help me?” He asked with expectation and hope shinning in his bright magenta eyes.
“I’d be shocked if I couldn’t, now what is your problem?” Fila asked sitting down on a nearby stump crossing her brown furry goat legs.
“Well my friend Ryuu, he’s a dragon, well he started to act differently and was trying to open some sort of portal and now me and my other friends are being chased by these crazy fast assassins. Any idea whats happening?” It was quit for a while as Fila was taking in every peace of information, the only sound being the soft singing of the birds that were flying overhead.
“I could be wrong but it seems like someone is controlling your friend, making him open a portal to the realm of the lost, in the process releasing the Nightmare Bringers, those assassins are followers of the Nightmare Bringers.” Fila informed, her face dull and not one a child should bare.
“What do we do then?” Vladimer asked fear etching it’s way onto his face. This was next level stuff, how where they going to fix this?
“You must find the person controlling your friend and stop them, how I am unsure but I know you are capable to find a way, I see inside you.” Fila said before running away leaving Vladimer alone to ponder what he had just been told.
“There you are, we thought you where in trouble.” the voice of Zader rang out snapping Vladimer out of his trance.
“You okay there, you seem upset?” Zader asked putting his hand on The other males shoulder. Vladimer debated telling Zader what he found out now or waiting to tell very one at the same time.
“Hey Vladimer what’s wrong?”
“We need to get moving I know what’s happening.” The elf said his face twisting into a disgusted look.
