the way i usually see it is that while ghost hates, simon hurts

ghost despises the pain you had put him, simon wished that he had been enough for you. and it's almost like he can physically feel the pain of his heart breaking into thousands of pieces, knowing how much the hurt would come to him when he was tucked away in his home, how it would shatter the hope and the longing with pain and sadness. almost like slow motion where the betrayal has already hit his mind but his heart has yet to catch up, the overwhelming feeling of being crushed and burning in the hope he dared to have and to hold. berating voices inside him cursing him out for ever thinking he could find someone, for ever thinking he could be in a relationship with how damaged he was, for ever doubting the fact that everyone wasn't the same and there was always an ulterior motive behind their actions

he knew now. you couldn't understand him, you didn't even bother to try. and that's what hurts the most, he put all he could in the relation only for you to discard him like it was nothing

so it's easier to hide behind a facade, the mask that he's learnt how to perfect over the years. the persona that everyone was well acquainted with, ghost was stronger than simon.

so while he knows that he could never love you again, never bathe in the bask of your company and glow but that doesn't stop a part of him pretending a little that perhaps in an alternative universe you'd be loyal to him and you'd be devoted to him as much as he was to you. in that life, he'd be happier. better. the loneliness, the anger, the pain would all be a bitter memory

even if he knows not a thing could happen to you, it doesn't stop a small part of him waiting for your love. clinging onto the hope that one day perhaps things would be different. perhaps one day he could love and be loved without being shredded to pieces

but this again is just my interpretation lmao

gaz: lowkey why do i see him doing asmr 😭😭 he's so cute, he's got the whole comment section thirsting over his veins and he's just intensely focused on trying to give the best tingles. that or lifestyle videos, showing the camera around the barracks and he's so sweet with it. he's so organised and his channel is a breath of fresh air
