Oh thank god. I'm reading other people's reviews and 90% of them agree the book was good but fell off a cliff with the r*** scene. Thankyou, fellow readers. I feel so vindicated. <3 I'm not alone in this opinion.

As far as I'm concerned, this book ended when Kao began his recovery from the epidemic. D:< Kao is alive and well.

I've been sucked into this book for two days straight. I can't put it down. It's a real damn shame there's not fanart whatsoever of this series. WHY?? And literally no one is talking about it aside from reviews on amazon. This makes me upset.

Ok. Now I know why people aren't talking about this book series. ~~ Spoilers: ~~ ---- My favorite character, Kao, dies and the heroine gets raped by her stalker, Reever (what a name...). Then she feels bad for the rapist, apologizes for the rapist's actions, and the rapist gets away with it. Oh yeah, and in the next books of the series? She marries her rapist. WHAT. THE. FUCK. What is wrong with this author? I know rape fantasies are a thing, but that's too much. I'm not reading any more of this series. I'm so angry. I'm going to add a pet peeve to my list of writing pet peeves: Unresolved injustices. If you kill the dog, the dog-killer needs to die or pay for it in some way. John Wick understood this and that's why it was satisfying storytelling. I can stand crimes like rape, torture, murder etc, IF the criminal is brought to justice (in some way). No justice? No dice. There was another book series I was a fan of that had a pointless rape scene in it (as it had nothing to do with the main plot, and only served as a tiny bit of "oh shit, reality sucks" for a little boy who witnessed it). BUT, the rapists were captured and HUNG at the end of the little boy's side plot. Kvothe in the Kingkiller Chronicles saves two girls from sexual slavery and mass-murders their captors. I didn't like how the author portrayed Kvothe having more PTSD from that experience than the girls did though. Like, excuse me?? I swear, sometimes I feel like writing my own versions of other people's stories to right the wrongs and call out the bullshit. You wrote WHAT into your story?? No. It should have been this way. Maybe that's the whole reason I write fanfiction in the first place. Maybe I should write my own original fiction. Out of SPITE.

My head-canon is after the events of the movie they resettled on Pandora and coexist peacefully with the Na'vi. I would love that crossover. Imagine the Pearls telling the Na'vi their planet was destroyed by Human wars BS so the Na'vi grant them refugee status. They give them another cove or island nearby. There's so few left of the Pearls, Jake Sully would say they're pretty much near extinction and would be easy to wipe out if they posed a threat. The Pearls prove to be very peaceful and they were worried for nothing. After getting to know them, the Water tribe realized just how similar their cultures are and they just *vibe*. Both species have leaders have both a warrior-like male and a spiritual female. The fishermen trade catching/hunting tactics while craftsman nerd out about jewelry making and garment creation. The Pearls are fascinated by the giant trees and hanging buildings, exploring with childlike awe. (Afterall, their home world was mostly sandy beaches with tropical plants like the Florida Keys). The Pearls catch on the the Na'vi language very quickly and both races eventually exchange words they find particularly useful, eventually "Emai-nee" and "Oel ngati kameie" become pretty inter-changeable between the two villages. Very little is known about the Pearls, sure. Their part in the movie was sadly brief, but that also would allow creative freedom on biology. Like... what if they were a silicate based lifeform and ate coral? That way the air/gas of Pandora doesn't poison them like it would a human. >_> They're taller than humans, but shorter than the Na'vi. They can't link like Na'vi can, but are capable of telepathy. I personally think they're more advanced than the movie let on, not in science, but perhaps making leaps forward in quantum mechanics and biological abilities. There's so many cool things they showed in that 3 minute sequence, especially with the energy-ball pearls they collect and use to restore balance to the planet with the use of the Mül . The little creature called a "Mül converter", the last of it's kind, somehow finds a similar creature on Pandora. I'm just gonna pretend the native creature is genetically compatible and a cross-breed occurs, replenishing numbers of the Pearl's favorite animal companion. The Na'vi end up loving the little things too. Either that... or perhaps the Mül critter can procreate through self-replication, which only occurs when it senses there are no nearby mates. I suppose this would create another valuable resource for Humans to get greedy and fight over, but I'm going to ignore that. I personally hate the "evil humans" take on movies like these. It's just so pessimistic and makes me angry. D:< This is a random daydream I've been playing with. I would love to include a race like the Pearls in some future sci-fi novel (I'll likely never write... sigh).
