wuko week day 2: angst

it must have been at least a little bit fucked to have your (boy)friend brainwashed and kidnapping you so you can also be brainwashed :/

I was just informed that it’s wuko week?? So here is a quick wuko headcanon!!

Wu is very busy dismantling the monarchy and so is travelling across the earth kingdom

Mako is back on police work and finds it weirdly boring and his coworkers dull compared to Wu... hmm wonder why

They become pen pals! Wu of course sends extremely flirty letters and Mako being the oblivious nerd he is gets way more excited than normal when he receives Wu’s letters but doesn’t know why bc didn’t he find wu annoying? When did that change?

So Wu is back in Republic City for a little bit and he calls up Mako and they go out to watch a pro bending match (on a totally-not-a-date) and Wu thinks it’s kinda boring but suffers through it bc Mako loves it

Afterwards Mako is all excited like “did you see that move from the waterbender in the third round!! Wow that was some great technique” and he’s so happy and bright and passionate that Wu can’t help it, he kisses him

And Mako is thinking oh wait what are feelings

And Wu is like “I’ve wanted that for a long time” and Mako is like “wait what??”

Because he just figured it out and being an awkward nerd he has no idea what to do or say

Wu just laughs and is like “yeah I know, crazy huh?” and then goes “do you know any good noodle places around here?”

And Mako is like “uhhh yeah I guess” and he takes Wu to this hole in the wall place with GREAT ramen that he and bolin used to go when they were probenders

Internally he’s freaking out but wu pretends to take it all in stride, he loves the noodles and charms the wait staff while mako is thinking the whole time when did I start feeling like this

And after dinner he’s just like “what’s going on” and wu is like “isn’t it obvious? this is the date i always wanted to go on with you. a date where we did something you like”

Because he’s actually planned this whole thing out, planned for them to go places mako likes and knows and feels comfortable at, not some fancy date at a place wu would know

And mako knows at that moment that this is the Wu he’s fallen for, the Wu who is considerate and kind and has grown up so much since Mako was his bodyguard and Wu was just a bratty prince.
