“Shuri’s traditional costume is inclusive of a corset from the Dinka tribe, a jawbone accessory, and African beads around her neck. The Dinka corset has a long spear at the back (visible when she turns to the side) - it goes up at the back, travels down around her body, and attaches at the front. We wanted her to have all of these beads on her face and around her body, and it was super uncomfortable and really did inspire her lines: “This corset is really uncomfortable, so could we all just wrap it up and go home?””
