The Beginning of the End
“The Queen is dying.”
Basil stared at the kingdom before him, tensing up at Reykur’s words. Snow covered the ground, fresh from an overnight storm.
Basil could only see a few sets of paw-prints in the snow, those from the hunters of Primaria, setting out for their morning hunt. A hunt Basil should’ve been on as well, as called upon by his father; for ‘training purposes’ as he’d said seasons ago. Instead, Reykur caught him before he left, feeling as though catching him when he was busy would be the best time for this discussion, apparently.
Basil silently begged to the Skies for a successful hunt. While only just begun, the Winter had been a hard one already - and with Corylus passing away just a season ago, Ignis taking lead of the hunting group and Sterkur being old enough to officially join them in their hunts, the group was just finding their footing again, in a season where success and large meals were few and far between.
“The King will follow her, you know.”

Tier III NBW alert! I wasn't prepared for this. Like, what exactly do my pack rules dictate here? I want to keep Tier III in the pack for sure, but I can't take the easy way - new members of my pack will never come from the Trading Center. (Or from gifts, unless it's something won from the game itself.)
I could use my Luna applicator, but Grouse House says mismatched Tier IIIs produce about as many Tier IIIs as a matching genetics Tier II-III pair. So that would be a waste when I can befriend a Dravite for free. If I can find a Dravite anytime soon.
I haven't decided what I feel about Lillemor's offerings. While I do allow tree cubs on Lioden, you're also not picking them out and their stats are wiped.
This is also a special case where I need something specific to keep something in the pack, though. And Lillemor is still technically buying from the game rather than other players. This Tier III NBW is a boy, and thus he can't breed with my main breeding male in the meantime. I probably should find a Warm Dark II pup to start growing, then if I find a Dravite closer in age or something I can use that instead.
I should probably search in the morning, though. Most of what's still with Lillemor right now is boys. Hopefully Tier II won't be too hard to get.

Soft River Pack Naming Legacies
As it happens in societies, the naming conventions of the Soft River Pack have changed over the several generations from the pack’s beginning. This is a short explanation of how they’ve changed (and why). The generations are not necessarily actual generations, but are instead the naming generations I’ve noticed I used.
First Generation:
Starting with Abaise and Kotsim, wolves are named using words to describe them translated into either Lakota or Shoshoni, both Native languages from around Yellowstone National Park. Most names are a bit more vague translation words, as many of the words directly translated are either very long or very hard for my white ass self to pronounce, and didn’t want to completely butcher them.
Second Generation:
Wolves start to be named short, simple two word nature-related names. First example of this is Abaise and Kotsim’s pups Morning Sun and Golden Eagle. This naming convention is widespread in the pack now, and is the usual way of naming pups.
Third Generation:
The third generation of naming conventions is slowly starting, with a lot of varying names and way of naming puppies. From the long way, brought in by She Who Sees The Ocean, to occasional one word nature names, the size of the pack is definitely lending to differentiation in naming conventions. Where this will go is yet to be seen.

apricus member: Trek
Tumblr media
Born into the pack year five to Ryn and North [Skyline Era]
Siblings:
Chickadee (Littermate), Anaba, Salix
Solemn and dedicated, Trek is the founder of Apricus after his birth pack, Skyline Ridge, fell apart. After making the journey to his mother’s birth lands, at first he struggled to survive in the harsh climate that was nothing like the plentiful mountains he was used to. Yet with the help of his siblings and native desert wolves, his group pulled through and set up a territory in the unforgiving deserts.  He’s become a fair and thoughtful leader, although he leaves the more personal pack matters to the other Solar Court members to handle. He’s well-liked and for the most part wolves are quite loyal to him, even though he’s not particularly aware of that fact.
[Year Six]
Trek is born alongside his brother. Anaba’s life-altering injury engrossed his mother’s attentions, and he and Chickadee were primarily raised by their father North.
When his mother Ryn did spent time with him, it mostly consisted of her telling stories of the desert she had been born in, and the escapades of her youth.
Anaba, then half-grown, spent many a time watching him while their parents were busy with some duty or another. The seeds of a close friendship were planted.
[Year Seven]
As he grew, his draw to the arid lands grew with him. He took to scouting on his own beyond the territory lines. Trek was good at the work, but found little joy in it.
Ryn’s ailment grew worse, and North began to take up greater leadership duties. Although, it could be argued that he from the beginning was the true Leader of Skyline.
Trek becomes increasingly aware of his mother’s faults as a leader.
[Year Eight]
both of his parents unexpectedly pass away, Ryn’s chronic ailment had been worsening, and North caught a viral illness that made them both horribly ill
With the loss of their leaders, Skyline began to fracture as no heir had been chosen and none seemed particularly apparent, and Trek left with his siblings and a few others to seek out the land of Ryn’s stories
He met Coop, Nyssa, and Fiadh, who taught him and his small band to survive. He and Nyssa began courting.
[Year Nine]
After many a fight, he and Nyssa end their courtship. They do not work well together as mates and are each incredibly stubborn and set in their ways.
Apricus is officially made a pack, and he naturally falls into the role as leader and head of the Solar Court.

Sanctuary Pack Wolves: More
Born in the ninth Spring of The Sanctuary Pack
Parents: Ceda, Cairn
Personality: A sweet young wolf, More loves to make his friends laugh, and spends a lot of time as a pup with Cairn's friend, Carnassial, under her questionable influence as a practical joker.
Naming Conventions: ‘Good Luck’, Second Generation.
More's family traditionally gives pups names that are gruesome or morbid as a sort of superstitious good luck charm (good luck being needed more by the lone wolves the tradition originated with than by more secure pack wolves). The idea is that unpleasant names get the bad luck 'out of the way’ early, to avoid misfortune later in life.
More himself was named after the mores, sprites that Sanctuary's wolves believe lurk below the surface of the river Tuckamore, seeking to drag unwary wolves under.
