Monster fun fact
The moon can influence monster behaviors! While this fact is not very well known, it is important knowledge either way!
The three different ways the moon effects monsters are:
Full moon: monsters tend to become a bit more rowdy and bold during full moons, knocking on doors, windows, and the walls of houses to try and find a way in
It is highly recommended for those living close to The Fog to lock all doors and windows, black them with heavy objects, and keep curtains drawn for safety purposes
Everything will return to normal in the morning
New moon: without the bright light of the moon monsters become much more aggressive and active, stalking around homes and on EXTREMELY rare occasion wondering into town for a quick meal
Make sure to complete all safety actions stated above and you should be ok, but in the event one of the monsters gets into your home it is recommended by government officials to use weapons such as strong fire arms and terminate the creature for your own safety
If you do not own or cannot get to your firearm safely, hide out somewhere safe in your home and call local law inforcement
Blood moon: there is not much to do besides what is stated above.
Blood moons are when monsters are most aggressive. Do not go outside under any circumstances during this time if you want to live.
Risk of monsters getting inside homes is increased greatly during this time.
When this happens, call law inforcement immediately.
If you're lucky they'll show up soon to help you.

are they boys friendly towards Riv?
It took a while for Tom and Tord to become friendly towards them, but yes!
Matt and Edd are some of the friendliest monsters you'll ever meet, so they were nice right off the bat, but Tom and Tord actually tried to harm Riv at first
Tom didnt like River very much at first but Edd and Matt didn't let him harm them
However, after a while, Tom recognized Riv as the nice human who made sure his memorial looked nice and stayed clean! After that he began to trust them more and is now basically a big puppy dog to them :3
Tord was neutral to Riv since Edd and Matt didn't let him kill them, and eventually grew to like being around the sweet human! Though neither him or Tom will give the same grace to other humans.

Does everyone in the town not like them? Or are there certain people who do?
Riv is basically an outcast, They're like that one old dude living on the edge of town that everyone is afraid of
It's mostly because they're partially corrupted but another big part of it is that they don't take anyone's bullshit
Over the years many have left small memorials at the edge of the forest to honor those lost by The Fog, and living right next to the woods means Riv is the one watching over these memorials, and they have no shame in smacking any dumb teens who like to mess with the memorials for fun
The police don't do shit because even they are scared of "the freak living by the woods"

The guys designs and backstories/deaths
(Tom and edds designs were made by my friend @cola-stripe )
MATT
The first to die, and died around the 1400s.
He was a rich noble who was actually in a gay relationship. However one day he was bitten by a vampire, and it wasn't long later that the other villagers had discovered this along with his relationship.
He was forced to watch as his lover was beaten to death, only to be beaten himself shortly after and thrown into The Fog to die. Starving and slowly being corrupted, he was forced to drink the blood of a Husk. He died shortly after since a Husk's blood is not at all sufficient for a vampire to survive off of.
However instead of being turned into a Husk, he was transformed into one of the many monsters that roam The Fog. He was at first horrified by his hideous appearance, but overtime learned he could change his appearance at will, and chose a much more human one. Angry at the world, he at first hunted and killed humans, However as the centuries passed he realized things had changed and became peaceful.
Nowadays he does his best to help any lost humans get back home, and wanders the seemingly endless forest.
He can see in the dark and is very fast, and he also has mild shape-shifting.
Edd & Ringo
Died second around the 40s during WW1.
The two ran into the woods to survive an attack, figuring it would be better then being captured by enemy soldiers.
Ringo was the first to die by starvation, with Edd following soon after. However due to circumstances still unknown(I haven't thought of a reason), Edd was brought back as a monster and Ringo as a helpedful spirit.
Nowadays Ringo helps guide lost humans home, and Edd is a very sweet and caring monster who does enjoy helping humans.
He can change the position of the eyes on his body, as well as his mouth, at will.
Tom
Died third during the late 70s.
He was heavily bullied and shunned by the other townsfolk due to the fact his mother was a monster, and monster-human relationships are extremely frowned upon, especially back then.
One day a couple of jerks beat him badly and left him to die in the woods. In a desperate attempt to survive he transformed, but sudden transformation killed him.
Due to The Fog's effects, he was brought back as a monster. He is very hostile towards humans and has lost most of his humanity over the years.
He can run fast and jump high, and has an amazing sense of smell and sight.
Tord
Died last around the mid 90s.
He came to England for a hunting trip, and chased a wolf into the woods, not realizing the danger he was in. He eventually killed and skinned the wolf, only to find its blood replaced by a thick black ooze due to it being corrupted.
Unfortunately being the the woods and such contact with the ooze caused him to become corrupted, and he Unfortunately gave into his desire(stage 4 of the corruption).
He died a slow painful death like any corrupted person would, however the wolf's DNA caused his body to mutate and for him to come back as a monster.
He had died neat a patch of mushrooms, and the spores stuck to him after he was brought back, slowly growing on him and giving him the ability to change his right arm into anything he wants.
He can run very fast and has the ability to influence people using both his soothing voice and the spores from the mushrooms growing off him.
The human.
River, or Riv for short, lives alone in a small house by the woods, and thus is often a target for demon and monster attacks.
However most monster they encounter are rather friendly, and they like leaving little treats out for the beasts.
They lost their sister to The Fog's corruption when they were just a young child, and deep down have a burning desire to find her.
Eventually they gave into this desire and went out into the woods, where they first met Edd and Ringo, then met the other three not many days later.
The other people in town don't like them very much, especially because they are technically corrupted, however cannot be affected past stage two and is on medication for it.

This is an eddsworld au created by @just-a-lil-otter and is more centered around horror
Monsters and Husks
In this universe, monsters are a normal and well documented thing. It isn't uncommon for a human to see a monster, demon, or cryptid every now and then and people know how to avoid and deal with them.
When someone is corrupted and give into their desire to go into The Fog, they become Husks, which are pale humanoid creatures with black eyes and gaping mouths.
Husks are puppets for The Fog, and are used to lure in other humans. Their life force is sucked and used to feed The Fog slowly over time until they eventually crumble away into nothing.
