Pshh, hey. If you are in a budget or if you have to hide your practice, I have some witchy tips for you.
• You don’t need to have an altar. But if you want to, creating an altar on a wooden box is great; you can collect stuff to put in there and you can hide it under your bed.
• You don’t need crystals. Common rocks can be energised to act with a certain intention and they work just as well. You can also associate the place you got the stone/rock from with an intention, such as: a rock from a river or sea can be used for cleansing, purifying, taking energies away from you. A stone found at the property of a hospital can be used for health spells. These are vague examples, so I might make a list later on of all kinds of things you can do with mineral founding.
• Energised water is a great offering to most entities. Water holds memory and it’s easy to energise it with a certain intention if you concentrate.
• You don’t actually need candles. For many deities, an object that remembers you of them works as a taglock, an identification of the deity you’re worshipping. Besides, many spells do not need candles to work, such as: ritual baths, petitions, etc.
Have fun, and remember that your practice isn’t meant to look the same as other practitioners’. We are supposed to do things our own way, as long as it doesn’t harm anyone or anything.

Cleansing:
Cleansing can be internal and external
External:
-Something as simple as rearranging altars (with your deities permission)
-Vacuuming your house and picking up clutter
-making a concoction to clean and spray down magical spaces (I personally use a mixture of soap, peppermint, and salt)
-Putting salt around your house for protection
-Ringing bells and playing loud music to disperse stagnant energy
-lighting candles and incense
-Putting up colorful lights on altars
-Spraying a mixture of sea salt and water in the air
-Recharging and placing crystals
-Keeping plants around and taking care of them
-Imagining your soap, shampoo, whatever you have in the shower to be both cleansing and spiritually cleansing
-Take a bath with soothing herbs. (Or if you’re like me and get UTI’s you can just use epson salt)
-Using different forms of sage (meaning cedar, dried roses, etc. let’s leave white sage to our native friends.)
Smoke is the most cleansing because it has been said to be the only form that permeates our skin and soul
Internal:
-Asking the earth to help cleanse you. This can be as simple as imagining all negative energy flowing from the bottoms of your hands and feet back into the earth
-Envisioning fire sweeping through your home and burning away all of the negative things you don’t need
-Laying in a field or in nature and asking nature, Mother Nature, whatever you believe in to help cleanse you
-Roots from the forest coming up and taking away all of the negative
-Really anything to help clean out your soul and internally. Your deities and spirits can help you with this as well!

Spiritual Vetting:
Have you recently come into contact with a new spirit? Do you want to know if they’re someone you can trust or keep around? This post is for you!
(Couple things to know about us and our team: we come from different backgrounds and different opinions regarding spirit keeping. However, the person writing this post does not believe in binding spirits or connecting them to objects. Keep this in mind.)
-Do your research
Look up info regarding your spirit and their background. If you can’t get a good sense on what type of spirit they are, then keep asking. Keep a journal if you have to of info about the spirit that you learn.
-Ask your deities or guides if this is someone to be trusted.
-Use a form of divination to get to know them.
Tarot cards, pendulums, runes, anything similar.
-Ask them to show you their teeth
This might sound off, but if all of their teeth are spiky and they look like they want to eat you, that’s not a good sign. (This is from our good friends at Cobalt.)
-When in doubt, ask someone you trust. There are even spiritual vetting services you can ask. I have used one called “Royal Rose Divination” and they are wonderful.
However: read reviews and make sure they have your best interest in mind.
-Banish the spirit if they become too aggressive or aren’t who they say they are. And always keep your home/space safe. The more wards and protection you have, the harder it is to be tricked.
-Do not try and bind the spirit to an object. They are a free entity that should be able to come and go as they please. It’s like visiting someone’s house and them chaining you to the basement because that’s how they make friends.

Cult Spotting:
Here is some info on how to spot a cult for new and experienced witches/people in witchcraft:
-You are only allowed to do things their way
-They come up with buzzwords like “spiritual gunk” or “love and light” or other things to scare you into doing what they want you to. (This is a scare tactic and makes you rely on them more.)
-They ask for money. (Now, if they offer services like tarot, etc and you don’t HAVE to give money, this is different.)
-if the leader claims to have special insight or abilities and you have to rely on their senses instead of your own.
-They pit you and other members against each other.
-There is an inner circle that you can reach by following the leader without question.
-They tell you if you leave, people will stop talking to you and bad things will happen.
-Just because someone in the group is a family member does not mean they have your best interests in mind.
-Do online research. See if there are any blogs, info, etc about the group.
-ALWAYS TRUST YOUR GUT. It is the most important thing that you have. Ask your guides, deities, and yourself. And if the answer is no, then follow it.
-If something feels too good to be true, or like a red flag, most of the time it is!

Cobalt Athenaeum:
This is a full library of scholarly resources, UPG’s, and other helpful info concerning witchcraft, deities, and practices.
They cite all of their works and pull from many journals and experiences alike. They were accused of stealing info/resources a while back and doxed. HOWEVER, it was because a creator kept changing their username and they couldn’t credit them. So, they do cite every single thing they use.
They also have different wings, just like a library. Where you can go in and ask specific questions and find lots of info. You can even ask their staff if you have a question and connect with other users! Their discord is truly massive and a very welcoming place.

Satan and Sons:
(NOT to be confused with the Joy of Satan who is a Nazi cult. Allegedly)
This is a coven that sells spirits. There had been a rumor going around since the name can be shortened to “SS” that they are antisemitic. They are anything but.
This group kicks out anyone they see as a dog whistle or problematic. They are a coven that just happened to have a catchy name and it got shortened to some Nazi bullshit.
The people that run the coven and are in the coven are actually very kind and resort to asking a rabbi when such matters like Lilith are involved.
The people that started the rumor of this coven being antisemitic are (allegedly) behind on their payments and don’t like when people work with or worship Lilith. (Who is open.)

Getting Back Into Your Practice
Tumblr media
Sometimes life is shitty and your spiritual practice doesn't take priority. Thats okay. Here are some tips for how to get back into your practice once you're feeling up for it.
Cleanse and Clean Your Space This is defiantly the first think you should focus your energy on. This can take as long as needed and as intensive as you want or feel is needed. Spiritual and physically cleanse your space. Pick up items, open windows and start your cleansing method of choice.
Redo Wards and Protections Once you've cleansed its important to redo your protection. Cleanse to get rid of, protect to keep it away. Even if nothing has *hit* your protections and wards, its important to keep up to date on them being energized.
Keep Actives Low on Spoons Now that you've done the basics, stick to low spoon actives and slowly build from there. Even if you feel super energized and ready to get into it- you want to take things slow. This'll help you from losing steam..
Slowly Add Back In Your Daily Practice This is totally unique person to person, but dont expect to be back into your multi step daily routine right away. Add in each step one at a time, or slowly so you wont feel overwhelmed.
Come Up with a Ritual Youre EXCITED About You want to focus on the parts of witchcraft you love. Do something you've always wanted to try, something you always love doing, or anything that will make you excited for the working.
Pick a New Topic, Not an Older One Getting into your practice and going to an older topic might feel disheartening. Pick a new topic like astrology, plants, or an aspect of witchcraft you havent gotten too into before. Then go back to the older topic you left on.
Do Some Divination on What You Need Right Now Spend time with your spirit team, deities or ancestors and figure out what you should be focusing in on right now. Maybe you need more rest, maybe theres a ritual they want you to work on.
Remember You Dont Have To Do Magic Daily Dont put too much stress into doing something every single day. Take breaks. Youre still a witch.
I hope these helped. Remember to take things slow and dont let the pressure of getting back into it weigh you down. Magic is suppose to help not hinder.

It's my personal belief that just about every beginning pagan and polytheist who worries about upsetting their gods if they don't give enough offerings should go one or two months without giving any offerings but still politely ask their gods for assistance.
Why in the hell would I say this? It's simple, dear friends: it could hopefully show them that, hey, gods are actually a lot more chill and willing to help than mainstream paganism and polytheism would have us believe.
The gods aren't going to devour your soul for asking for their help. It's my opinion that they actually appreciate being valued and trusted enough by you for you to rely on them in your times of need. You don't need to feel guilty for asking for help - that's the main point of this post.

Preparing for a Magical Halloween: A Witch's Guide to the Night Before
Tumblr media
Halloween, the most mystical night of the year, is just around the corner, and as a witch, you have a special connection to this enchanting holiday. The night before Halloween holds great potential for you to harness magical energies, cast spells, and prepare for a bewitching celebration. In this blog, we'll explore some ideas and rituals to make the most of this pre-Halloween evening.
1. Anoint Your Tools:
Before the big night, it's essential to cleanse and empower your magical tools. Take time to anoint your cauldron, athame, wand, and other tools with essential oils, like lavender or sage, to purify their energies and prepare them for your rituals. Visualize the tools becoming charged with magical power.
2. Connect with Ancestors:
Halloween, also known as Samhain in the pagan calendar, is a time when the veil between the living and the spirit world is at its thinnest. Take this opportunity to connect with your ancestors by setting up an ancestor altar. Light candles, offer favorite foods, and meditate to communicate with those who have passed on.
3. Divination Rituals:
The night before Halloween is ideal for divination practices. Use tarot cards, runes, or a crystal ball to gain insight into the coming year or to communicate with spirits. Ask questions about your path and seek guidance from the ethereal realm.
4. Protective Spells:
As the boundary between realms weakens, it's wise to cast protective spells around your home. Create a circle of salt or sprinkle protective herbs at your doorstep. Light black candles and visualize a protective barrier forming around your space.
5. Harvest Moon Meditation:
Since Halloween often coincides with the full moon, take advantage of its energy by meditating under its glow. Find a quiet, outdoor spot, or simply sit by a window, and absorb the moon's energy, drawing strength and clarity.
6. Brew Potions:
Channel your inner potion master and brew concoctions for Halloween night. Consider crafting love potions, energy elixirs, or even a brew for divination. Use herbs, spices, and intentions to infuse your potions with magical properties.
7. Costume Enchantment:
If you plan to wear a costume on Halloween, enchant it with magical energies on the night before. Visualize the persona you'll become, imbuing your costume with power and intent. This can help you embody your character fully on the big night.
8. Candle Magic:
Light candles in various colors to symbolize different aspects of your life or desires. As they burn, focus on your intentions and let the flames work their magic. White for purification, green for prosperity, red for passion – choose candles that align with your goals.
The night before Halloween holds a unique and magical ambiance. As a witch, you have the opportunity to tap into the mystical energies of this time to empower your rituals and spells. Whether you're casting protective wards, connecting with your ancestors, or brewing potions, the night before Halloween sets the stage for a truly enchanting celebration. Embrace these ideas to make the most of this special occasion and have a bewitching Halloween!
