Diamond Practise! Getting back in the swing of things.

I’ve been tryna produce more for this AU between my uni work after being gone so long. Needed some motivation so decided to bundle some of my PD drawings from over the years to see the improvement.

Doesn't White Pearl have some free will? Will Nora try to stop puppeting her?

The second part I can't address yet but to answer the question of White Pearl's free will, She does have free will but only at certain points. Whenever Nora asks her a question or asks her to do something, Pearl has to obey. She also seems to keep up the whole "controlled state" around the Diamonds. We've also witnessed that whenever Nora is in an emotional state, White Pearl, as she does with White in canon, mimics Nora's movements.

E.g:

Though we haven't seen Pearl in this state much yet, she isn't always like that. Especially when Nora is tired, she does have her own emotions and movement.

She can't however speak on her own unless being given a request.

Tryna improve my skills and drawing Rose is very therapeutic for me, so here we go.

Since I'm so swamped and haven't updated anything in a few months, I'd like to at least give something so I'm gonna release something not planned to appear for a while, I think I can blacklist the spoiler tag if you rather not see this and maybe things like it in the future?

This is the form that White used when walking the earth, she is still a pretty giant women.

I get Pink feels uncomfortable with Nora, especially since she has White’s gem but what’s her beef with her anyway?

Ah, so this is a very complex question and one I can’t fully quite explain without spoiling things but using the information available, I’ll try to elaborate.

The first instance we see Pink’s impression of Nora is in the very first panel where she refers to Nora as White, seemingly maliciously. This isn’t necessarily out of hurtfulness. e have to understand that Nora is only about 10. White hasn’t been gone long at all, especially in the eyes of a gem. Pink has never really made an effort to be involved in Nora’s upbringing, she has other things on her mind and things that are keeping her busy. As little as Blue and Yellow have been there, Pink has been there less and is still adapting to this strange new being who took White away. She has no clue what kind of person Nora is.

Another thing is, after her handling of the Earth colony, Pink has very little freedom. Blue and Yellow don’t want her running around the galaxy and causing trouble and her general attitude isn't doing her any favours. Nora, on the other hands, as long as she is supervised by her pearl, is allowed to do those things so resentment has begun to brew.

Perhaps, the most important thing to understanding why it seems Pink hates Nora is we follow Nora in this comic, not Pink. In Nora’s view, things are a lot worse than they are. She sees Pink’s dismissal as hatred so the tension is multiplied. She is a very lonely, secluded child who just wants someone to be there. No matter how much she reaches out to Pink, the only Diamond who would have time for her, there is no response. So she asks herself time and time again, “Why is this gem, who is meant to be my family, shunning me? What am I doing wrong?” She does not know if this something she did, something her mother did or something else entirely.

Hope this maybe cleared a few things up.

Bonus Comic: In The Garden

ok so this is a small comic that takes place many many years before Nora's birth, and aims to give some context to the upcoming pages. Also gives me a nice change in what I'm drawing. It'll hopefully have about five pages but those should be made much quicker than usual.

First, just want to say sorry for the unannounced hiatus. I have been and still am struggling with some mental health and physical health issues. Finding motivation has been difficult for me, no matter how much I’ve been wanting to continue this.

The next page has been sat being work on little by little and still isnt quite done but just wanted to say this comic isn’t abandonded. I’m trying but i just can’t seem to produce anything I’d feel confident enough to post. I have some backlogged drawings but they contain plot spoilers so I can’t neccesarily release those. The best i can do for now is this young Nora I made at someone’s personal request a while back. My current goal is to get the next page done by at the very latest the 15th.

Apologies for being so unconsistent and just disappearing.

I’m struggling to draw at the moment so decided I’d sketch spinel since she’s my comfort character to draw plus she’s just cute. So sorry for the content dry spell again.
