I *often* have this same doubt (specifically panels 1-3) about my OCs and Whibley.
This is such an sweet and important message to writers of all kinds.
storyteller
sometimes I forget that I'm just a teenager writing a webcomic in my spare time, so I shouldn't hold myself to the same standards as, say, a feature film with an entire team of professional writers, or Hiromu Arakawa. Writing flawed stories is okay, and even necessary in order to write better ones :)
(if you want to read aforementioned amateur webcomic...)

"I don't think that's such a good idea."
"Come on, Mom! Move in with us!"
"Erm--what about Stinky? He's happy here, I don't want to disturb him."
"Your cat will be just fine, trust me."
"But--but--we have history here, sweetie! Look around!"
"That's exactly why I want you out of here. It's time to move on, Mom."
"Look, I mean this in the nicest way possible because you know how much I love you, Mom, but I'm worried about you. I've been worried for a while, actually."
"Oh, sweetie, don't--"
Ignoring her mother, Sadie continued: "I would feel a lot better if you just moved in with Adam and me. Please?"
"But honey! You have nothing to worry about! I'm fine!" Irene begged.
"This is for your own good."
There was a tone of finality in Sadie's expression that made Irene think back to last spring when she felt her mind wander. She didn't want to believe it, but memory blips like that one were becoming more and more common. Her daughter didn't know anything about that yet, but without realizing it Sadie had said the words Irene needed to hear to concede.
"Alright, honey. Maybe it's finally time for a fresh start."

Like most weddings, the day went by just as quick as a camera flash could capture it. Before long, everyone began parting ways.
At the end of the night, Elizabeth and Ted resolved to clean up the mess tomorrow and instead sneak in one more wedding day kiss before heading inside.

Max entered the living room, the sound of a toilet flushing followed him.
"Max!" Amy let out a sigh of relief.
"You won't believe what just happened," she began.
"What? I wasn't pooping for that long."
"No--Max, listen. My sister--"
Amy stopped when her eye caught sight of her late father's army portrait on the dresser.
"Your dad," Max said.
"Yeah--"
"--I can't imagine what he'd have to say about today. 'Course, if he were here, today would have never happened in the first place."
"Amy," Max winced. "Tell me what I missed outside, something about your sister?"
"Sam proposed. She said yes."
"You want me to propose too? Even the score?"
"What? No!"
"We could get you pregnant?"
"Absolutely not!"
"Pee in her punch?"
"Max!"
"That wasn't a 'no'."
"There is something seriously wrong with you, you know that?"
"But you love it," he winked.
"Yeah, I do," she said, turning back to her father. "He would have hated you."
"Then he'd get along great with my mom. Disappointing parents is what I do. It's a talent."
"You're much, much more than that."
"Oh yeah?"
"But you're also a dork."
He smiled so sweetly it melted Amy's anger clean from her body.
"Okay, fine. My dork."
"I love you too, Amy Parker."

"Bonnie Parker!"
She smiled at Sam.
"The real most important woman of the day!" he whispered in her ear.
"Ugck!" Amy couldn't hide her distaste for Sam Weasley.
"I have something for you," he said.
"Really? What?"
"Can't you guess?" he said kneeling.
"Sam?"
"You have got to be joking," Amy mumbled.
"This is what you wanted, right?" he smirked.
"Oh! Sam!"
The crowd of wedding guests fell silent behind the couple, everyone anticipating Bonnie's answer.
"Yes!" she squealed.
"Hooray! Yay! Congrats!" the guests cheered. "Double wedding day!" someone joked.
"Oh, Sammy!" Bonnie cooed at the ring.
"Oh, Bonnie," Amy cringed.
Then the newly engaged couple joined the other guests, laughing and smiling, as Amy slinked away into the house.

"Hey, Laddie. Long time, no see, huh?"
"Um--" Jack wasn't too sure what to say to Max, his new step brother. It only dawned on him in this moment that Max would have a relationship with his dog. Jack suddenly felt inclined to stand a little taller. Max picked up on the awkwardness and decided to bridge the gap himself:
"You both did good out there!"
"Thanks."
"You make quite the pair," Max said. "You know, Laddie and I--eh, never mind. I'm just glad you have each other."
"Uh, thanks."
"It's good to see you," Max said quietly to Laddie, whose eyes sparkled and tail wagged happily in response.

Grrwwwmm!

"Where is everyone?" asked Adam.
"We can't be the first ones here," Amy worried.
"Relax, both of you." Max inhaled deeply. "Smell that? Love is in the air."
"Oh my god," Amy and Adam muttered in unison.
"Hey, there's someone!" said Adam.
"That's just Bonnie," Amy answered.
"Hi, guys! Gosh, the sun is bright today, eh? Love must be in the air."
"That's what I said!" said Max.
"Where is everyone?" Amy asked.
Just then, Ted stepped outside.
"There he is!" cheered Max.
"Man of the hour!" Adam followed suit.
"Thanks, boys!" Ted beamed.
"We're so happy for you," Bonnie said with her hug.
"Thank you, darling," he replied. "We couldn't have done any of this without you. You've been such a great help for your mom and I."
"Happy to help!"
"Move aside, Bon. It's my turn for a hug," said Adam.
"This is not getting any less weird," Amy whispered to Max.
"You're doing great. My brother's just doing this for show. Hang in there," he whispered back.
When Bonnie excused herself to help her mother get ready, Amy had a nice opportunity to officially meet Ted -- who was now simultaneously her step father and boyfriend's dad.

Elizabeth and Ted's spring wedding day had arrived after a long winter. Liz woke up early as usual, but found it hard to leave the bed this morn. Her mind buzzed with anxious thoughts about the big day ahead of them.
Meanwhile, the sun rose quietly to light up the decorations waiting in the backyard.

"Hello?" Amy answered.
"Hey, Amy!"
"Richard!"
"How are you--uh, wait--is that Max laughing in the background?"
"Yes, he's being absolutely disgusting."
"Hi, Rich!" Max yelled.
"What's he doing?" Richard asked.
"He said it was hot that I'll be his step sister!" Max beamed. "Can you believe him?!"
"Well, you knew what you were getting yourself into with Max."
"That is not helping!"
Richard smiled to himself, and Amy could hear the smile through the phone.
"Hey, when are you visiting? We miss you," she said.
"We gotta jam sometime soon, buddy," Max offered.
"Maybe after wedding season," Richard replied.
"Yeah, there's a lot this spring, eh?" said Max.
Richard forgot to answer, losing himself in the famous Feverfew skyline.
"So, this summer then?" Amy asked.
"Oh, yeah, sure. Summer."
"We got a townhouse!" Max announced. "Lots of space for you to crash here with us."
Richard swallowed then replied flatly: "Thanks, man. Hey, listen, I gotta go, I just wanted to say hi."
"Alright, take it easy man!" Max signed off.
"Was that all, to say hi?" Amy asked quietly.
"Yeah."
"Okay, well, don't be a stranger."
"Seeyah, Amy."
"Night, Rich."
Then Amy hung up the phone, and for the first time in their relationship Max felt uneasy. Although the feeling could have been the spoiled meat sandwich he was eating--
--he could also see something very important was missing.

"This is dumb."
"We need to practice!"
Amy sighed dramatically.
"There--see? We're already better than when we started."
"I still don't get why you're being so positive about this. Our parents are getting married, that's so messed up! Why do we have to go along with this?"
"They're happy," Max shrugged.
"And, look," he pulled Amy in. "I know it's weird, but it's not going to change anything for us. I already called dibs." That made Amy smile. "Plus, it's honestly no weirder than Adam marrying Sadie Hill."
"What, why? Sadie's great, I like her."
"Yeah, but--he's my brother. He shouldn't be happy. Just picture a smiling Adam--now tell me that's not messed up!"
Amy let out a soft chuckle. Sibling rivalry was always an easy way to get Amy's guard down and Max knew that.
"Plus plus, when my dad marries your mom you'll be my step sister. That's hot."
"MAX!"
Just then, the phone started ringing.
"What! It's funny!" he laughed.
"You're sick."
"Just think about it," he laughed as he talked. "I can call you 'sis' or 'sister Amy'--oh my god, Sister Amy, like you're a nun or something!"
"Would'ja shut up? I'm getting the phone."

"You're getting better," Sophie greeted.
"Thanks, but I'm no where close to good enough."
"What do you mean?" she asked, sitting down.
"Dad wants keyboard back up on his next album, but I don't know why he asked me--I'm just a beginner. I can't keep up with him."
"Why didn't he just ask Harold Ward? Aren't they music partners?"
"Beats me."
"So, how's Mom?"
"How's Mom?" Sophie laughed.
"What?" Claude grinned. "Can't I call her 'mom' now too?"
"Oh, she'll love that."
"No, really. How'd it go?"
"Fine, she loves you already," she slid closer towards him. "But there is something else, if you're ready for it."
"What?"
"I'm pregnant."
"Pregnant!" he smiled to himself.
"Mhmm!" she gently bit her tongue to uphold the white lie. She figured blinding Claude with pregnancy news would distract him from reading any anxiousness on her face.
"Gonna be a dad, huh? Well, that was fast. Didn't we just get engaged?"
"Yep."
"Well, I guess--"
Sophie started kissing Claude's neck.
"Soph--"
Gotta act fast, she thought.

Sophie washed their breakfast bowls in silence, the sound of running water filled her mother's small cottage home.
"Sophie, honey? Are you alright, dear?" Lilibet asked.
"Yeah, Mom. I'm good," she lied.
"Look, don't tell anyone about this, okay, honey? Sir Reginald could be a big problem for all of us if it came out."

"So Reginald II, his father, and I--well, you know. We were young, too young."
"His parents tore him a part, they were so full of shame and anger. I thought his dad would never stop shouting, and his mom couldn't even look at him. Frankly, I don't know which side was worse for Reg."
"They didn't think much of me, or you for that matter. The Barbers have always been far more concerned about their name, their reputation, and their dumb university; I don't think they see anyone who doesn't serve them, y'know? In the end, his parents gave me more money than I knew what to do with and told me to figure it out on my own. So that's exactly what I did."

"Oh, good for you, honey!"
"I'm so proud of you! You saw what you wanted, and you made it happen! It really is a lovely love story."
"Thanks, Mom."
"Claude Rousseau is a fine choice, too! He'll make a great son-in-law. You'll make such beautiful babies."
"Well, he's much better than Reginald Barber," Sophie offered.
"Barber?"
"That is one disastrous date I would never do again," she said with a slight giggle.
"You went on a date with a Barber?" Lilibet couldn't hold back her concern.
"Yeah, so?"
"What was his name?"
"Reginald III."
"Oh dear."
"Mom, what is it?"
"I was hoping I'd never have to tell you this, but maybe I've done worse by not telling you."
"Mom?"
"You're related to the Barbers."
"What!"
"Reginald III would be your half brother."
"What!"
