The fastest way to shut down my "freelance life means I have to constantly be working" thoughts is to remind myself that if I was a boss holding a worker to the standards I hold myself to, their union would hunt me for sport and nobody would blame them.
I can't help but feel sorry for BoTW Link, if only for one reason:
While green is the traditional color of the Hero, blue has always been more personal for any given Link. Blue lobster tunic. Blue Zora tunic/armor serving as an engagement gift. Blue scarf on top of the green garb — in an army, flailing your clothes like this is rather bold. Blue dress of the funny girl at Koholint and of beloved sister. Blue glow of the fairy that has finally become your guardian.
How tragic it is then, that this was the chosen color of the Champions' uniform. Stripped of privacy, now it's another reminder about the duty that lays on Link's shoulders — and it's not like green is absolved of that role either, with the Set of the Wild and all.
In that regard, OoT Link being raised among green-clad Kokiri, but having the heroic context of the color outweight association with home is just as sad.
