I actually enjoyed the scene with the fort. It really encapsulates who the animatronics really are: children.

They're just children who had their whole future took away. They deserve to do normal activities that children do.

Sure, the thought of "murderous animatronics making a fort with each other and several humans" might sound a little ridiculous at first. But, it makes sense.

TLDR; The fort-making scene was actually good. The animatronics are haunted by literal CHILDREN. Let them do child stuff!
