so many of the things people are complaining about in DD2 just sounds like it's coming from people who never played the first game or don't have a clue how Dragons Dogma games are played at all.

no multiple character saves? in the first game.

unable to change your characters appearance immediately (but you can and you don't need to spend real life money to do so). also in the first game.

no easy way to fast travel everywhere on the map? in the first game.

not to mention the micro transactions. you guys are blowing those out of proportion. they are all completely optional AND items you can get relatively easily in game if you just play the game.

optimization issues are an ever occurring thing that consistently happens with newer games. it's not okay but it's not like DD2 is the only game that suffers from this.

it's also not an easy game. it's designed to kill you at every point in the game and you are meant to have to try multiple times to succeed.

i just don't think the level of negative criticism DD2 is getting is fair.

so i am a solo player and have been since the beginning of myself playing FFXIV.

i traveled through a handful of FCs over two years, all of which fell apart due to drama. i never really participated in events because of social anxiety, so i was mostly in it for the buffs and occasional conversation.

i didn't have any close friends to play with until about a year and half in, and then we had a falling out last year.

i decided to leave my fc since i wasn't participating in anything and didn't need the buffs anymore or care enough about them, because i leveled up all of my jobs to 90, alone.

i used to feel so bad about not interacting with people, but i was always so happy just doing my own thing.

and now, i embrace being a solo player who gets the social aspect just from being in the world with other people and queuing up for party based content. i saved up my gil and got a house in the lottery in Kugane. i built up my island sanctuary to completion.

then i got an invitation to join an fc, by the very founder of said fc it was a polite invitation to join an fc, like many i had gotten before, and like usual, i politely declined and said thanks but i'm more of a solo player.

then this person said, "why would you play the game alone? that's so sad and lame"

and i honestly lost my shit. i told them to fuck off since they didn't get the memo the first time. no means no.

so i'm writing this for the people who enjoy soloing an MMO and for the people like that one FC founder -

there is absolutely nothing wrong with playing solo. don't shame people for making that choice. mind your business, and remember: gaming starts and ends with yourself. if you are not having fun , you're doing it wrong.

and there is no reason ever to shame someone for having fun their own way, especially if it not harming anyone. so in the spirit of FFXIV community love, be fucking NICE.
