Sarah and the Safe Word - Sarah Rose (she/her, vocals) - Maddox Reksten (he/him, bass + vocals)
Spotify | Apple | Website | Insta | Twitter
Sarah and the Safe Word is an all-queer cabaret rock band from Atlanta, Georgia USA with heavy influences from pop-punk, emo, and gothic rock.
FFO: (early) Panic! at the Disco, The Dresden Dolls, Bear Ghost, Burn The Ballroom
Submitter Song Recs: Your Mouth is Only for Complimenting Our Dancers, The Louiseville Shuffle , The Business Practices of Spiders
"Sarah and the Safe Word exists in two worlds, each a century apart. The first is set behind a haze of cigarette smoke in a speakeasy’s back room, where daring storytelling of swashbucklers and a hot rod-racing demon only complements an already theatrical stage show. The second is the basement world of sweat-soaked punk shows and a collectivist mindset, encouraging free expression, sexual liberation, and community without boundaries." - Take This to Heart Records

Their music reminds me of being thirteen and hiding in the woods with my best friend. I could feel the whole weight of the world on my shoulders but at least he was with me.

Sophie Xeon (she/her) of SOPHIE (no pronouns)
Apple | Spotify | Youtube
SOPHIE was an experimental avant-pop artist from Glasgow, Scotland, with heavy influences from the underground UK dance pop scene. SOPHIE was a songwriter, DJ, and music producer, and helped forge the way for hyperpop.
FFO: Shygirl, Arca, COBRAH
"For me, transness is taking control to bring your body more in line with your soul and spirit so the two aren't fighting against each other and struggling to survive. On this earth, it's that you can get closer to how you feel your true essence is without the societal pressures of having to fulfill certain traditional roles based on gender. It means you're not a mother or a father — you're an individual who's looking at the world and feeling the world. And it's somehow more human and universal, I feel." - SOPHIE for Paper Magazine

Spotify | Apple | Youtube | Website | Twitter | Insta
Gender Crisis is a post-hardcore punk band from England.
FFO: Turnstile, Wargasm (UK), and Poppy.
I have seen Gender Crisis live, their professional recordings do not serve them justice, the energy was phenomenal. The band has great chemistry and Rory regularly uses the moshpit as his personal runway.

Laura Les (she/her), Singer/producer of 100 gecs and solo artist
Spotify | Apple | Website | Twitter | Insta
100 gecs is a hyperpop band from Missouri, USA. The duo's debut album helped consolidate the genre and is the first band many people think of when it comes to hyperpop.
Soundcloud
Laura Les' solo work is highly experimental electronic pop. Generally more stripped back than 100 gecs but maintains the nightcore vocals that helped relieve gender dysphoria early in her career.

Ishmael (they/them), Frontperson of Dream Nails
Spotify | Apple | Youtube | Website | Twitter | Insta
Dream Nails is a diy queer punk band from England with influences from pop, riot grrrl, and rap.
FFO: Bratmobile, Mommy Long Legs, Slutever
I saw them live recently and Ishmael is captivating on stage. It's like the music possesses them, every expression and movement conveys something new. The lighting was highly specific to their performance (not usual for shitty little punk shows) and when I asked them after the show they admitted they were a "huge theatre kid". Explains a lot, fucking banging band.

Emma grrrl (she/her), Leader of She/Her/Hers
Spotify | Apple | Twitter | Insta
She/Her/Hers is a folk punk band from Michigan, USA with pop and metal influences. Their latest album features some slower chamber pop ballads.
I first heard She/Her/Hers after stumbling across their song Kill the Boy Band in 2019. It perfectly encapsulated how I felt as a teen surrounded by festival line-ups and Kerrang! full of nothing but white dudes.

Sadie Switchblade (she/her), Frontwoman of G.L.O.S.S. and solo project Dyke Drama
Spotify | Apple
G.L.O.S.S. (Girls Living Outside Society's Shit) is an all queer hardcore punk band from Washington, USA.
Sadie delivers explosive straight to throat vocals, it's no wonder G.L.O.S.S. is one of the most well known trans punk bands on the scene.
Spotify | Apple
Dyke Drama is a punk rock solo project with country and pop punk influences.
Where G.L.O.S.S. packs a violent punch of trans fury at the society we live in, Dyke Drama is a calmer melancholic exploration of Sadie's personal gender identity issues and relationships.

QADR, Frontperson of The Muslims
Spotify | Apple | Youtube | Website | Twitter | Insta
The Muslims is an all-queer, Black & Brown punk band from North Carolina, USA.
Highly political, the band never pulls their punches and are on a mission to piss off all the right people. Their politics are not hollow statements, they know what they're fucking talking about. I'm a big fan of song titles such as "Crotch Pop a Cop", "Gentrifried Chicken", and "John McCain's Ghost Sneaks Into The Whitehouse and Tea Bags The President"

Submit a trans musician!
Hello! I'm a genderless dyke in their 20s from the UK. My aim for this blog is to have as many talented transgender musicians listed all in one place. I want to create a resource for trans people to find others like themselves in every genre.
I mainly listen to punk / goth / metal, but I welcome submissions from any genre. When this blog is large enough I will add genre navigation and an alphabetised list of previously submitted musicians.
All musician's pronouns are based on what is submitted, or what is currently listed on social media bios or articles/wiki.
FAQ:
How do I make a submission? Send me an ask with the trans musician's name or stage name, and their pronouns. If they are part of a band, please include the title of this band and their roles (singer, guitarist, drummer etc).
Optional information you can include: Genre, location, more well-known artists they sound similar to, a noteable fact, why you appreciate them, favourite lyrics, favourite photos, rec a particular song
The more info you supply the easier my job will be!
Can I submit more than once? Yes. You can submit as many trans musicians as you like.
Can I submit a big or small musician? Yes. It does not matter if a musician has 30,000,000 listeners or 3.
Can I submit a non-English speaking musician? Yes, absolutely. I encourage you to do so.
Can I submit a trans musican that is part of a band or not a singer? Yes. Please also tell me the band name and their role (singer, guitarist, drummer etc).
Can I submit a non-binary musician? Yes. I am using trans as an umbrella term for all people who are not cisgendered.
This blog will largely run on submissions, just because I post a musician does not mean I am aware of or endorse everything they have said and done.
