I completely agree! I think the dying race + path-based lifestyle + psyker culture + trauma of The Fall would allow for a very interesting and engrossing romantic tale to be told.

Though, I think if Gav were to write it, the Eldar fans would start throwing things. So probably not him penning it

It's been twenty years since I watched that film and I only just realised they lied about the rock.

Of all the models I want to see added to 40k, my top pick is a super-heavy Sisters of Battle vehicle which is just a church on tracks. I want gargoyles that shoot burning promethium out of their mouths, a main cannon with butresses along the barrel, a medieval crown spire that shoots incense grenades on the turret. I want access to the transport compartment (which it will have because it's a functional church with space for a congregation of 20 sisters) to be real wooden doors in a gothic archway. Make it happen GW.

I hate how Space Marine drop pods are made out to be the most hardcore metal 40k thing ever, but Sisters of Battle drop fortified churches full of Battle Sisters from orbit and no one ever talks about it.

This has been my headcanon (more or less) for a while, and now it's official! I couldn't be happier. I hope those drukhari trans girls are having fun as they flay prisoners alive in the arena, they deserve it.

Personally I prefer those imperial guard stories where the little guys struggle in vain to find some hope in a system that only sees them as tools, but on the macro level Guilliman is (relatively) pretty good.

Just adding my two cents, but I'm pretty sure the vast majority of necrons want to wipe out all other intelligent life. The destroyer cults are different because they want to wipe out all life, right down to a microscopic level, and then (depending on which source you read) destroy themselves once their work is done.

It's also worth pointing out that this describes humanity in 40k as well. The majority want to be the only intelligent species, while a minority of nutters take it way further than that. If the imperium are good guys (they aren't) then the necrons are good guys too (they also aren't).

Man, I do love 40k. I mean what other franchise can give you a conversation about the nature of humanity, morality, and hypocrisy, what ends justify what means, what "humanity" even is only to have the entire argument undermined by the fact that one participant is wearing a coat made of human skin?

I'm half-way through the third Bile book, and I was heartbroken when I found out he stopped writing for 40k. He's so clever, I've had a great time with them.

Also worth saying that he writes eldar a lot better than Gav Thorp or Guy Haley. Still can't believe he took an idea as goofy as harlequins and made it creepy and terrifying.

This man has zero chill and I love him for that and will defend him with my life.

Biggest loss of all when he stopped writing for GW.

the fundamental tragedy of humanity in 40k is that they are not adapted to the galaxy they inhabit. humans are a mostly nonpsykic species with bright souls evolving into a psykic species, and yet do not have the understanding of the Warp and its forces that eldar do, nor do they have the dim souls of the tau which enable them to resist corruption and not draw the attention of dangerous Warp-entities. similarly, humanity' has a collective mental reflection or psykic gestalt, but they cannot rely on it the way orks can. humanity's nature dooms it to consumption and oblivion, and always has.

I honestly don't see the Eisenhorn books as canonanymore. I finally checked out when he described how Ravenor's ship had a crew of about 50 people, and I was like... really? Have you done any research on this setting at all? Or did you find out that the smallest warp-capable imperial ship still has a crew of thousands, and just decided to ignore it because it didn't fit your vision?

That's not even mentioning the unbearable way he describes female characters. For fuck's sake Dan, you don't have to explain how hot and busty a woman is every single time they they enter a scene. Kara Swole needs to get a restraining order against this guy with how much he leered over her.

He's gotten whatever the Star Wars EU authors were catching in the early 2000s and forgotten he's writing in someone else's universe that has rules he needs to follow.

Enuncia is the stupidest fucking thing I've ever heard of. Why would humans know the One True Language and no one else? Why wouldn't Eldar just be casually dropping this shit on a day to day basis? How come daemons aren't inherently speaking in the one true language of the universe comprehensible by all beings?

I can't believe that the fucking Eragon books handled the idea of magic just being the true names of things better than this clown.

There needs to be a name for the phenomenon where an author's early works in a franchise are good but then they grow worse as they get more freedom to write what they want. Author-induced canon decay or something. It happened in the Star Wars EU too and it always sucks.
