I’ve spent the last few days trying to re-organize my website because, as the title of the post says, “ALL THE THINGS”. When working on my most recent resume, I realized that in an ideal world I would be able to share all of the things I want to share with…well everyone, I guess?
I know that sounds strange. But that’s always been something I’ve loved about being an internet nerd - there’s always other folx who like the same kind of things as me. Through all the internet tubes we find each other and there’s something pretty cool about that. Honestly streaming and growing with online community has been such a gift this last year+, I don’t know what I would have done without the care and support of my fellow nerdy gaming friends.
Right now as I’m journeying through a time of healing and discernment and just a lot of wondering - I’ve been wondering what the future might hold, and I’ve been grateful for so much support so that I have the time to do this important work for my heart and brain and soul. Writing tends to be a main part of how I have processed trauma my entire life and I realize that I probably need to do more writing again.
Something I’ve found three months in to this time away from full time work is that I feel creative again. Creative in a way I haven’t been for a long time. I’ve been writing, programming, recording videos, planning out scripts of sermons or movie reviews. I’ve been drawing for fun, making little webcomics of me and my little one, of my random 💩post thoughts. I’ve made notes about upcoming texts for a Sunday, wondering what my colleagues might be saying to their congregations. I’ve been excited about making soap again, about spending an hour or two just sitting with all the furry creatures on the farm and giving thanks. Enjoying moments with my little one and my spouse and my family and friends.
It feels like breathing again. Like there was something blocking and now the air is flowing, at least a bit less inhibited anyway.
So I’m hoping to do a better job of utilizing this space to share all of the different ways my creativity has been coming out, to share some joy, some grace, some hope with others. It might be videos or blog posts or random drawings. It might even be a very random hobby project I’ve taken on this summer that I can’t wait to talk more about. Maybe it’s even sharing recordings of public speaking or pulpit supply during this time.
