you know something? It surprises me how most of YouTube reactors who have or are currently watching Demon Slayer go with their first impressions on the Pillars which is to take most of them as "pricks" because of the way they treated Tanjiro and Nezuko once they got to meet them in person, and the majority of them tend to go harsh on sanemi and obanai, which I completely understand why because they were the ones who were stubborn on accepting the kamado siblings in comparison with the other pillars, I myself was angry when sanemi stabbed nezuko at first and when he kept pushing it, so that I comprehend and can relate, but here's the thing, why do I say it surprises me? It surprises me because most of the reactors who are harsh with the Pillars are anime reactors, meaning that they have watched many many other anime series before demon slayer, so it shouldn't be much of a surprise to them that when a character acts like a prick at first it's mostly because of their past, and most of them comment of certain cliches as they watch the show, but they are so closed on understanding the reason why sanemi and obanai act the way that they do, especially with sanemi, which leads me to my next point, which is that none of the reactors that I've seen so far try to understand "why" none of the Pillars were accepting of Kagaya's decision of allowing Tanjirou and Nezuko to not be punished. For those who haven't read the manga, the past from the Pillars is still unknown, apart from Shinobu's which as been partly revealed so far in the anime, nobody knows what any of the Hashiras have been through and how their upbringing was like. Their job as demon slayers is to stop Muzan, and to protect any human being, so of course they're not going to accept Tanjiro, a demon slayer, to travel around with the one thing that they are taught to kill and destroy, of course they're not going to believe that Nezuko, a demon, hasn't harmed a single human being and instead protects them, because it's implied that her case is not common, so of course they will find it absurd that Nezuko has went on for 2 years without consuming any human flesh and trust that she won't attack anyone, because they've never seen anything like it before, so their hostility against tanjiro and Nezuko is understandable, even Shinobu and Obanai had a good points:

Most can agree that the first impressions on the Hashiras was like if they were douchebags, but they were against a case they had never witnessed before, so of course they would argue and go against it, did they have to be so hostile? No, but they were doing nothing more than standing by to their duty.
