Ever wonder what makes James Cameron's 1997 Hollywood epic "Titanic" one of the most commercially and critically successful films of all time? Titanic superfan Brittany Butler and movie buff Ethan Brehm are here to analyze it... Scene by scene.
In this episode we read a very sweet listener letter, discuss various historical facts and tidbits, more deleted scenes, Jack and Rose's friendship, James Cameron sprinkling in comedy during serious moments, plus some CRAZY set-ups and payoffs that (thankfully) didn't make the cut!!
111 years ago. 1,500 souls were lost when Titanic tragically struck an iceberg and sank in the early hours of April 15th, 1912. Weāll always remember the true story at the center of this movie. Titanicās legacy lives on every day!

In a clip from our latest episode: Jack & Rose's reunion is briefly interrupted by a quick shot of the bow sinking, foreshadowing the fate of their relationship.
Before we start covering the scenes again in real time, Brittany and Ethan from nearly two years ago have an episode for you! Crazy that we've sat on this one for so long, but now we're finally able to share it!Ā
In this episode we feature and answer our first voice message(!!!), discuss the launch of the first lifeboats, controversy surrounding the third class passengers being kept behind gates, set-ups and payoffs, more decision-making for Rose and her forever legendary retort "I'd rather be his whore than your wife."
We'll return two years older and wiser in the next scene. ;)
In our official return from The Great Hiatus, we catch up with you all, discuss various things in relation to Titanic's 25th Anniversary theatrical re-release, read listener letters and make a cool announcement regarding our involvement in the upcoming documentary āShip Of Dreams: Titanic Movie Diariesā!

I cannot wait to see it on the big screen again in February. Believe it or not, I havenāt watched the movie at all during our break. At this point, I really want the theatrical rerelease to be my first rewatch in nearly 2 yearsā¦ šš Itās perfect timing. So many life-altering things have happened to me during our time away, I canāt think of a better way or time to go āback to Titanic.ā Iām sure Iāll view it from a whole new perspective! š„ŗ Looking forward to finally resuming our discussions in the new year! ā Brittany.
Some truly incredible stats from our Spotify Wrapped! š¤Æ I really canāt believe this, especially considering weāve been on the longest break in history. š The fact that the podcast has grown like this in our absence is crazy to me!!! Itās very encouraging to read.
Thank you all so much for listening! We are working towards returning in the near future! šš¼šļøš ā Brittany.
š¢ ANNOUNCEMENT: Weāre recording our first episode in foreverrr *tomorrow* (6/29) and itās a very special interview with actress Alexandra Boyd! Weāre so excited! š„

Hey, everyone! Little update: I feel awful about how long this latest break has been. Back in December 2020, my mental health started to take a nosedive and itās been an uphill battle ever since. Iāve fallen behind in many areas of my life over the past few months, including the podcast unfortunately.
As of recently, my mom and I have hit one of those roadblocks where it feels like literally *everything* is going wrong. Weāve had a lot on our plate, and Iām not gonna bother getting into details because it will sound like the longest, most ridiculous list of excuses and Iām so over excuses at this point lol. But basically, all of my projects including this podcast, music, etc. have ended up on the back burner while I get my life up and running again. Even something as simple as posting this update got pushed back way further than I intended. Iām so sorry to leave you hanging like that.
We do have a new episode recorded and mostly edited, but I canāt even listen to myself talk. š I feel so weird about it suddenly, and thatās another mental block Iāve been trying to work past. Iām hoping to finally listen back to it soon and get it posted for you all. I am determined to finish this project, Iām just so sorry that itās taking so freaking longggg. š„ŗ
Anyway, hereās a throwback of me proudly displaying a plastic Heart of The Ocean necklace at ageā¦ 6? circa 1999 probably. šš I totally thought I was rockinā the real deal, unearthed from the depths of the Atlantic.
šØ Our podcast has been missing from Apple Podcasts search results for nearly a week now. Very concerning. After researching, I assumed it was a glitch that would sort itself out, but now Iām actively trying to get this resolved. If youāre subscribed, you should still be able to access episodes through your library - but any potential new listeners will have no way to find us.
We're back with the scene that finally kicks off "part 2" of the movie! In this episode we discuss Titanic's Old Hollywood flair, some historical moments that were subtly interwoven, the early moments of the sinking and the general confusion surrounding it.Ā
