more specifically, about how he said it like it was something he’d been saying to her since they first became partners, since they first had a heart-to-heart after a grisly case.
how he said it like it was a silent belief he held & practiced, but that, now, he communicated with abruptly clarity.
how he said it like it was something he repeated to her many times in different ways, but that he didn’t mind reassuring her that:
no matter what the circumstance, she could always count on him to support her in the end. and that she could trust him, and know that she is not alone.
and THEN, do you ever think about how exactly 2 SEASONS LATER in 6x17 he is telling her this same thing, once more, in those very words.

I'm selectively rewatching seasons 12 and 13. I think I'm still trying to connect the dots on late seasons Prentiss.
A thing that slays me: at the end of 12x22 when Derek Morgan shows up, that hug between Derek & Emily. The way she says his name, the way she relaxes in that embrace. There's a relief in her face. It strikes me as a moment in which she gets to be just Emily, rather than Unit Chief, even for just a split second. And obviously it doesn't last long because Morgan has brought her another crisis that demands her leadership. But I love that they got that moment.

why isn't demily a more popular ship? I swear they were like the most "almost a couple" characters on CM
I think because both of them are shipped with other characters more (Emily with Hotch or JJ & Morgan with Reid or Garcia). I ALSO agree that they were the most "almost a couple" characters on the show and I have Evidence™
•the s2 deleted scene where they were considering starting a romance arc between Morgan and Prentiss. when Reid bugged him about it he didn't say he wasn't attracted to her, he said she wouldn't be attracted to him 👀
•the EW interview where MGG said that "Morgan takes it as her boyfriend in a sense" about the events in Lauren
•the s7 CM_SetReport chat after the finale where producer Rick Dunkle joked about them sleeping together after JJ's wedding and having an oops baby
•in the same chat showrunner Erica Messer also said Emily has always had "something extra" with Morgan and that he's her partner (always found that interesting considering they're a team)
•how Emily's 2 boyfriends on the show shared uncannily similar physical features to Morgan, specifically Andrew (so we know that's her type in men)
Anyway, in short, we were ROBBED.
