Goodbye, Farewell And Amen.

Goodbye, Farewell And Amen.
Tumblr media
After four years, the Star Wars Post will be powering down at the end of this month. During those years, we have been delighted to deliver the news about our Galaxy, far, far away, writing opinions, showcasing new merchandise and doing our very best to connect with our readers. It has been a joy for me to maintain positivity for the brand and making lots of friends along the way. But due to several factors, I have decided that it’s time for this passion project to end.
The U.S. Government shutdown is currently in its 32nd day, and I am one of the thousands of Federal contractors impacted by this ridiculous political situation. Although the costs for the Star Wars Post are moderate, it does put my hobby into focus of where it fits in my life and whether its worth the expense. The Post was born at a time when my children were babies, and my wife was attending night school. During those weekday nights, after feeding the kids, bathing them and tucking them into bed, I dived into the fun era of delivering Star Wars news during the run-up to Star Wars: The Force Awakens. There was great fun during that time speculating, writing opinions and reviewing incredible books and merchandise. It was an insane amount of work, most of it resting on my shoulders alone. But it was a magical time of just being exhaustively busy. During the day, it was mind-churning work as a cyber-security executive and at night, a Daddy of two and a Galaxy to write about.
There were some great achievements during our four-year-run. We landed a few exclusives and got our stories carried by other outlets. Stood up for topics that needed to be addressed, and promoted loudly and proudly the works of the fantastic storytellers in Star Wars. We ended up on CBS Radio in Los Angeles and caught ourselves in some newspapers as well. We sought out to remind regular folks that there is more to Star Wars than just going to the movies. We endeavored to bring those casual, Star Wars movie folks into the fold of podcasts and other fansites. Introducing them to the amazing great platforms of comics, novels, and animation that enrich the Star Wars experience.
I enjoyed making new friends in the industry and across the Star Wars fandom. There was the pile of merchandise for my kids to enjoy and books that sit lovingly on my shelf. From PR contacts at Lucasfilm to its vendors, the relationships were professional and enjoyable. I will always cherish the camaraderie of my fellow Star Wars fan sites and podcasters. All of you have been inclusive, helpful and I admire the relationships we fostered.
I will always be thankful for my Wife and kids who let me share my passion with the world. For others like Jason and Amanda Ward, for their friendship, insight and infectious love of Star Wars. To the countless friends on Star Wars Twitter that retweeted stories, gave encouragement and pushed back when I needed it. Then there is Ben, Liz, Pete, Drew, Billy, and Shannon, who wrote amazing stories and live-streamed shows for the Post. You six will forever have my love and thanks for your excellent work and friendship. To our guests who graced us with their insight on the livecast and made our show informative, humorous and fun.
A special thanks to Lucasfilm and the talented storytellers that surround them. Matt who’s encouragement and outreach made our work feel recognized. To Pablo, who took the time to educate- when he didn’t have to, and sparking my joy of watching older films. Justin for his encouragement, professionalism and always being a rampart for the Empire. Dan for showing me what an amazing Star Wars site should be, and an inspiration to do better. I learned so much from each of you.
Most of all, thank you to our readers who I will cherish always. You made being a war correspondent way too much fun, and I love you all.
Be kind and find joy.
Sincerely, Max Palas

Star Wars: Resistance Season Two Announced, And Release Of Mid-Season Trailer.

Star Wars: Resistance Season Two Announced, And Release Of Mid-Season Trailer.
Tumblr media
The Official site has announced that Star Wars: Resistance has been picked up for a second season by Disney. The new animation series, has been a delight during these first few months of the series and it’s welcomed news that it will return in the fall of 2019.
Disney Channel has ordered a second season of the animated series Star Wars Resistancefor a fall 2019 premiere, Lucasfilm announced today.
Starwars.com
Always being a watchful eye on Star Wars Twitter and other social media platforms, I have been curious of the adoption of this new series in the fandom. From my point of view the series is still trying to win viewers and maybe a tad behind in the numbers compared to Star Wars Rebels. The initial episodes, with their new beautiful animation style, and slow character building stories, have lost some of the adult viewers to this series. However, as I have stated often on social media, that passing up on Star Wars: Resistance is a risky proposition. Especially with the new mid-season trailer which just recently debuted. Here in this new video we witness a more serious tone to the series and most importantly connection to the films in the new sequel era.
If you’re a Star Wars fan that prides themselves on keeping up with all the story connections across platforms, you should be investing time in this wonderful animation series.

Gina Carano Joins Cast Of Star Wars: The Mandalorian.

Gina Carano Joins Cast Of Star Wars: The Mandalorian.
Tumblr media
The Wrap is reporting an exclusive that Actress and former MMA fighter Gina Carano will be joining the cast of Star Wars: The Mandalorian. The role is still unknown, however, her entry into our saga is a welcomed surprise. With filming underway, it’s still surprising that we have not had an official announcement of the cast from Lucasfilm. With the series being filmed in the heart of Hollywood, it’s only a matter of time before the information is leaked to the masses.
Filming for the new series, which will debut on Disney + next fall, has been underway for several weeks. MakingStarWars.net has been the outfit charging ahead with photos from the set, which today included Death Troopers as seen in Rogue One. So far this series is shaping up with the scoop yesterday of Pedro Pascal and now Carano. It’s a great time to be a Star Wars fan.

Pedro Pascal To Star As "The Mandalorian".

Pedro Pascal To Star As "The Mandalorian".
Tumblr media
This is just another one of those cases where fansites get something right early and don’t get any recognition after the fact. Variety is now reporting that Pedro Pascal, the talented actor from HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’ series and Netflix’s  ‘Narcos’ is the man behind the helmet in Star Wars: The Mandalorian. A rumor first reported by Jason Ward at MakingStarWars.net over a month ago.
Pedro Pascal has been tapped to star in the “Star Wars” TV series “The Mandalorian,” which is expected to premiere on the Disney streaming service, Disney+.Pascal’s name had previously been rumored for the role, but sources say he was one of many actors being considered. Now, insiders tell Variety that he has been offered the role and negotiations are underway.
Although it’s great to have the top tier Hollywood confirm rumors first found by fansites like ours, it would still be kind to acknowledge those in the story. I mean, is it really that hard to give some level of professional courtesy?
Regardless, the news of Pedro Pascal coming to our Galaxy far, far away has me delighted. The Actor has earned his chops in Netflix’s Narcos and will continue Lucasfilm’s amazing record of matching great talent to roles that fit. The new live-action series will debut on Disney’s new streaming service Disney + sometime next fall. Welcome to our saga Pedro Pascal, it’s an immeasurable pleasure to have you.

Is Star Wars: Galaxy Of Adventures A New Animation Series From Lucasfilm?

Is Star Wars: Galaxy Of Adventures A New Animation Series From Lucasfilm?
Tumblr media
Earlier this morning, we picked up a scoop about Lucasfilm filing four separate Trademark entries for Star Wars Galaxy Of Adventures. Since then, I have made the rounds asking a few folks and some new clues arose that this new Trademark may perhaps be for a new animation series from Lucasfilm. There is also a more detailed look at the Trademark listing themselves as noticed by Editor in Chief of Cinelinx, Jordan Maison.
Little more info on that #StarWars Galaxy of Adventures trademark @thestarwarspost found. It's been registered for all these things, almost the exact same stuff as Forces of Destiny, Rebels, & Resistance. pic.twitter.com/JBlCtw7bzP
— Jordan Maison (@JordanMaison) November 9, 2018
The specified entries coincide with previous animation series Trademarks in the past, such as Star Wars: Forces Of Destiny and Star Wars Rebels. With the discussions, I’ve had this morning and the fidelity of the extensiveness of the Trademark submissions, this is looking more and more likely that is maybe for a new animation series from Lucasfilm for the Disney + streaming service. With the popularity of Star Wars: Forces of Destiny, I wonder if this new series will incorporate stories from all over the Star Wars Galaxy and not just a focus on our incredible heroine’s. This would make for an opportunity to increase the toy lines and continue the success of providing content for Lucasfilm’s youngest audience.

Lucasfilm Trademarks "Star Wars Galaxy Of Adventures".
Tumblr media
It’s been a daily chore of mine since the inception of the Post to check for any new Star Wars Trademarks in the USPTO Tess Database. Most days, my lottery search ends up with nothing, but on rare occasions, a new item pops up. This morning a new entry has been posted by Lucasfilm for “Star Wars Galaxy Of Adventures”.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Tess database has given us some important animation series titles and video game titles in the past. Many of them turned out to be mobile games or possibly something for the parks. This new entry sounds like a mobile game, book series or marketing program. These new Trademarks could also be tied to the new expansion of the Disney parks with Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. We try our best here at the Post to sift through the noise and bring stories that are relevant. This new Trademark is a nugget of information that just may turn out to be a platform we’re all interested in.

Cassian Andor Live Action Series Coming To Disney's Streaming Service.

Cassian Andor Live Action Series Coming To Disney's Streaming Service.
Tumblr media
Many of us were hoping for juicy news to drop during today’s Disney Investor conference call, and CEO Bob Iger didn’t disappoint. The chairman and CEO announced a new live-action Cassian Andor series coming to the direct-to-consumer streaming service next year. The Star Wars official site carried the announcement just moments ago.
The series, which will go into production next year, follows the adventures of rebel spy Cassian Andor during the formative years of the Rebellion and prior to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
This new drama looks to bring the espionage thrill-seeking that we all love, with an era of Star Wars that’s familiar. The happiest moment of this announcement for me is the return of Diego Luna and his reprising of the role of Cassian Andor. His performance in Star Wars: Rogue One, was memorable and I for one am eager to see the Mexican actor on screen running around in our Galaxy once more. Apparently, so is he.
“Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me,” said Luna. “I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply.”
The Disney’s direct-to-consumer streaming service is shaping up to be a must-have for Star Wars fans.

Boba Fett Spin-Off Film Dead. Like Sarlacc Pit Dead.
Tumblr media
Journalist Eric Webber has taken to Twitter this morning and is reporting that Lucasfilm CEO Kathleen Kennedy in person had confirmed that the rumored Boba Fett Spin-Off film project has been canceled.
Kathleen Kennedy just confirmed to me Boba Fett movie is 100% dead, 100% focusing on THE MANDALORIAN #StarWars
— 𝗘𝗪𝗲𝗯 (@ErickWeber) October 26, 2018
The corroborates the reporting several months ago from Collider about several projects being canceled after the dismal performance of Solo: A Star Wars Story. A Boba Fett film has always been in contention amongst fans of Star Wars. A character with little to no background being given a film of his own, front and center was always seen as a gamble with fans. Moreover, the entire pipeline of this project has been fraught with drama with the firing of its first rumored Director Josh Trank.
However for fans of Mandalorians, fret not as we will have Jon Favreau’s new live-action series, Star Wars: The Mandalorian. This new series will be the perfect platform to elevate this beloved culture into the canon of the Star Wars saga. As for the rumored Obi-Wan spin-off film, the jury is still out on that, and perhaps we should hear something quickly as the filming of Star Wars: Episode IX begins to wrap in the coming months.

Jon Favreau Teases Props From Star Wars: The Mandalorian Set.

Jon Favreau is looking to break-out of the Lucasfilm bubble and gives audiences a sneak peek into his production of Star Wars: The Mandalorian. Last week he set the Star Wars fandom on fire with our first look at The Mandalorian but also an incredible bullpen of Directors for the show. Tonight he didn’t disappoint with two new photos posted to his Instagram. First and foremost is a nod to Willrow Hood from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. One of the most famous backgrounds extra’s seen running within the halls of cloud city with a makeshift ice cream maker. The second image showcases the incredible artistry of the prop builders at Lucasfilm with the long rifle of The Mandalorian. This magnificent prop is what dreams and legends in sci-fi are made of. The kind of prop that the kids want in toys and costumers want to parade around with. It’s stunning and within just the last few minutes, this weapon will be iconic across all Sci-Fi.

Marvel Fires Chuck Wendig And How The Tool Of Faux-Outrage By The Alt-Right Wins The Day.
New Post has been published on https://www.starwarspost.com/marvel-fires-chuck-wendig-and-how-the-tool-of-faux-outrage-by-the-alt-right-wins-the-day/
Marvel Fires Chuck Wendig And How The Tool Of Faux-Outrage By The Alt-Right Wins The Day.
Tumblr media
The thrice New York Times Best Selling Author Chuck Wendig, took to Twitter this afternoon detailing his firing from the comics division of Marvel. The reason? Being generally uncivil in approach to his Twitter followers.
Today I got the call. I’m fired. Because of the negativity and vulgarity that my tweets bring. Seriously, that’s what Mark, the editor said. It was too much politics, too much vulgarity, too much negativity on my part.
— Chuck Wendig (@ChuckWendig) October 12, 2018
The abruptness of this decision by Marvel, who just recently announced Wendig’s new comic venture of a Darth Vader series of comics at N.Y. Comic-Con is highly suspect. Moreover, their decision to terminate their contract with the accomplished Author for his persona on social media is also puzzling, given that he has presented himself in this manner for years. What changed in the past few days? There has been no outrage in the Star Wars Twitterverse on this announcement of the upcoming projects? So what gives?
Chuck Wendig’s entry into the Star Wars Galaxy has been fraught with drama with the release of Star Wars: Aftermath in 2015. Even before the novel hit the virtual shelves at Amazon, a vocal minority of Expanded Universe Forever deviants conducted a targeted campaign to overwhelm the book’s reputation by giving it a one-star rating. The group, angry at Disney’s sledgehammer approach to what would be deemed canon in the new era of Star Wars. The attacks were not just relegated to Amazon but to Chuck himself, via online threats of physical violence and non-stop harassment in his future works. Much of which has been detailed by Chuck on Twitter this afternoon. The groups that targeted Chuck were not only the band of Expanded Universe Sandinistas but also the Alt-Right and their anger against the introduction of gay characters to the Star Wars Galaxy.
These attacks which began in 2015 took a turn since the election of Donald Trump and the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. A perfect storm for some fans who didn’t like the film, and the opportunistic Alt-Right looking to make a buck on Youtube. In this swirl of thick festered hotdog water, the Alt-Right found the platform where they can cast a net to disgruntled folks, stoke the flames with buckets of gasoline and make gobs of donations in the process. This sewered stew of targeting creators to make a buck fostered into a whirlpool that engulfed not only Star Wars but the whole of the comics industry itself, known as Comics-Gate.
Individuals like Ethan Van Sciver, podcasts like Rebel Force Radio and Youtube Channels like Geeks and Gamers, employ the latest tool of the Alt-Right, the faux outrage. We see it not only in Star Wars and the comics arena but in our current state of politics. The faux outrage about bands of roaving Liberal Bandidos terrorizing the countryside or how Democrats are conspiring with fake allegations about the Boy Scout Brent Kavanaugh. Let’s not forget the national scandal of a President wearing a tan suit, and not wearing his flag pin. All of it bullshit, not based in reality and used as propaganda oxygen to fill their imaginary reality bubbles. The danger of this absurdity is not they these people believe in their own make-believe, it’s those regular folks in positions of power yield to it, in order to try to lower the heat because it feels icky.
The firing of Chuck Wendig by Marvel sets a terrible precedent that emboldens these bad actors to continue targeted harassment for profit. Because as in all things in life, it’s about money. Even when they say it isn’t about money, it’s about money. After researching individuals like Ethan Van Sciver on his Youtube channel “Comics Pro-Secrets” for the past several months, the gameplan is evidently clear. Put up daily livestreams about key individuals like Lucasfilm CEO Kathy Kennedy, Director Rian Johnson and Author Chuck Wendig, fire up the base and grab the cash. Keep up the intensity, sick your followers to harass these individuals on social media, drive the narrative and hopefully get a result to show progress. The cash comes flowing in, not only by views and advertising on YouTube but more importantly through the direct-click donation button to Patreon. The amount I have personally witnessed watching just a few of these episodes is staggering. Folks donating $2, $5 and $20 was mind-blowing. Especially considering a recent episode where Sciver’s prediction of the firing of Kathleen Kennedy would happen at the end of September. Only to find out that her contract with Lucasfilm has been renewed for an additional three years. That night, I went out of my way to view his live-cast, hoping to bask in the glow how this fraud would be exposed to his followers, his inside-sources apparently all wrong. But of course, that didn’t happen. The followers were there, eating up his bullshit excuse and agreeing with him in the chat space. The sadness, soon to come as I witnessed individual after individual donating to the channel in droves. Like Fox News only turned up to 11 and milking the hate-watchers to the absurdity of it all. It still, after a week later still stuns me.
Marvel’s actions in firing Chuck Wendig will embolden these groups and solidify their resolve that this money making formula works. The biggest lost in this affair is how LGBT characters will now possibly fade away in future works in Star Wars by Authors who do not wish to get entangled with the Alt-Right. Shying away from the representation of real life on paper hoping to fly under the radar of those on the march with tiki torches. After this story fades away, you can be assured that they will find more targets and continue this warped workflow of hate-for-profit, clutch my pearls – where’s my fainting couch scheme. It’s big money, and now that they have a win, you can bet it will only get worse. Marvel must reverse this disastrous decision and Lucasfilm should front-and-center defend their creators.

Star Wars: Episode IX Remote Film Location In Jordan, Pictures And Descriptions.

Star Wars: Episode IX Remote Film Location In Jordan, Pictures And Descriptions.
Tumblr media
A user on the Reddit Star Wars Leaks site has posted some amazing pictures of what looks to be a remote location film set for Star Wars: Episode IX. The user, YenaMagana also posted a detailed account of what he saw to match the wonderful visuals. The authenticity of this is going to be hard to corroborate but, damn if this doesn’t look authentic. There were rumors that Jordan could possibly be a remote site for the last chapter of our saga, as it has been used before. More recently for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The description of YenaMagana’s account is the following:
So, I was driving through Wadi Rum, Jordan (I live in Jordan) for some nice desert camping, and I happened to stumble across a big tent city with some props. Wadi Rum is a large desert nature preserve in southern Jordan. A brief overview of what we saw:
Saw several rigs that were supposed to be some sort of landspeeders (one looked a lot like Rey’s orange creamsicle speeder); these whizzed by rather quickly and I was not able to get a good photo.
Pretty sure we saw Daisy Ridley (or perhaps another actress) getting a guided tour on a camel, with a heavy police escort.
Drove past the film set you see in the photo album. There were all sorts of tents, a lot of cut-outs of alien figures (looked a lot like Neimoidians), and pylon-sort of things. Looked like Jakku.
There is a big tent city with trailers, large MSU-style tents, and shipping containers. I am guessing this is where they construct a lot of the props, etc.
While trying to leave Wadi Rum the next day, were told to take a different path as they were filming in a certain area using a lot of pyrotechnics (!!!).
I won’t share the exact location (Wadi Rum is a big place), but it will be interesting to see Wadi Rum in the finished product. Wadi Rum is used to film a lot of movies, including “Lawrence of Arabia”, “The Martian”, and “Rogue One” (a lot of the establishing shots of Jedha were filmed there).
I would also like to take the opportunity to plug desert excursions in Wadi Rum; a really nice place with stunning scenery.
One of the greatest thrills in covering the production of these films is the remote location shoots. The energy in the air, the paparazzi photos and the shots of the production from all kinds of sources. From TMZ to regular folks like YenaMagana. The question for today’s reveal is this, is Rey heading back home to Jakku or is she venturing to Jedha?

Star Wars: The Mandalorian Releases It's First Set Pic And Dream List Of Directors.
Tumblr media
The news is coming in fast and crazy this week for Jon Favreau’s live-action series Star Wars: The Mandalorian. Tonight the official site,  finally caught up with the rumor train and posted an incredible first look at the main lead- The Mandalorian. His armor-superb, the setting-magnificent, the buzz is taking off and this will undoubtedly make waves across the globe in minutes. What is equally amazing is the list of Directors that will lend their talents to this small screen production.
The series will be written and executive produced by Emmy-nominated producer and actor Jon Favreau, as previously announced, with Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels) directing the first episode. Additional episodic directors include Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates), and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok). It will be executive produced by Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist will serve as co-executive producer.
This list is not only screaming with talent but the inclusion of Bryce Dallas Howard and Taika Waititi is shockingly awesome. Moreover, seeing Dave Filoni taking the helm for the first of what I am sure will be many episodes bring joy to this authors face.

Jon Favreau Announces Name And Synopsis For The Star Wars Live-Action Series.

Jon Favreau Announces Name And Synopsis For The Star Wars Live-Action Series.
Tumblr media
Moments ago, Jon Favreau the Executive Producer of the new Star Wars live-action series released the series title and a synopsis. The new series, which will debut on the Disney Live Stream service next year, will be titled Star Wars: The Mandalorian.
This synopsis details the emergence of a lone warrior just making his way in the Galaxy. What’s interesting for me is that it is prefaced with Jango and Boba Fett. I wonder if this new warrior just might be Cobb Vanth. The lone law-man of Tatooine that discovered Fett’s armor and wears it as his own in Chuck Wendig’s Aftermath Series.  The time and the setting seem to lend to that as well as recent pictures have surfaced of the set from MakingStarWars.net. Perhaps the sets we have seen could be of Mos Eisley? Moreover, the timeline fits the Aftermath Series which takes place after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order.

Jon Favreau's Live Action Series Set Pics And Rumored Film Start.
Tumblr media
Leave it to Jason Ward of MakingStarWars.net to find the set of the upcoming Jon Favreau’s Star Wars Live Action Series. Of course, after finding this lovely set, placed near some train yard, he’s going to take some photos. Heck, he just might have even done an episode for his award-winning podcast “Now This Is Podcasting!” to boot. The photos are about as great as they come and showcase what looks to be city dwellings on Tatooine. This is speculation of course, but we do know that Favreau’s new series will be focused on the Mandalorian plight to retake their homeward after the demise of the Empire.
Jason has also mentioned an important point that filming for this series will begin as early as next week.
“We have it on good authority that the live-action Star Wars television series begins filming next week…”
Pretty surprising since we haven’t even gotten an official word of the cast for the show or its title. But in the pictures don’t lie with the Director/Producer himself on set. Great scoop by our good friend Jason and I’m sure plenty more to come.
Head on over to the MSW story here for more pictures and insight from the master scooper himself.
