A conversation got me thinking about my time when I was an Atheist and conversations that floated around about all religion being inherently bad and atheism being inherently good, and how only religion has ever been used to justify crimes all over the world. Which is just blatantly false and shows a lack of education in history. The people who wrote pseudoscience books to justify racial superiority and genocide all over the world for the last several centuries were Atheists twisting the Theory of Evolution to suit their sick desires. Atheists played just has much of a hand in the atrocities committed all over the world as Theists. To say they haven't shows a complete lack of historical knowledge. This is why I believe academia is so vitally important to walk any spiritual path, or lack thereof. A lot of the Atheism community is about posturing as an academic, but few genuinely are.

The truth is, if someone has an evil soul, and they want to hurt someone else, they will twist any narrative to justify it. Whether it's a holy book or raw science data, it doesn't matter, as long as it allows them to hurt the people they want to hurt.

I’m a TSA Officer. Which makes me the easiest target in the room when talks of what I do for a living pop up. Everyone hates me and I’m always the bad guy. But, say what you will, this is the first job I’ve had that didn’t make me want to eat a gun at the end of the day.

Decent pay, PTO, good health benefits, and a pension.

I was unemployed for 6 months. In that time I applied to over 800 jobs. Cover letter, professionally done resume, glowing references from previous bosses and co-workers, college education. Only 4 called me back and the only one that offered me a job was TSA.

So it was either this or armed robbery.

As long as African Spirituality is monetized to the point of being inaccessible to the vast majority of the historically oppressed and impoverished black population, our cultural practices should not be open to white spiritualists. I cannot begin to express how fucked up it is to be the direct decendant of the slaves that risked their lives or were even killed to preserve our Orishas and our knowledge, hiding it from the white slavemasters, only for the majority of their children to be cut off from their own heritage by a prohibitive paywall. ...Meanwhile the white decendants of these slave masters are paying their way into OUR sacred inheritance with the generational wealth built on the blood and suffering of those same enslaved ancestors. Does no one else see how fucked this is? How am I going to be lectured about how I should and shouldn't practice MY OWN culture by a white "babalawo" who purchased his title with money bought with blood of my ancestors. Go fuck yourself.
