I personally head cannon that if an already alive grimwalker gets hurt enough in ways that remove or mostly remove one of the ingredients to make them that their body will try and compensate by emphasizing another ingredient.
Selkiedomus features tend to become more prominent if something happens to their lungs because the body is choosing the creature that doesn’t need to breathe as much.
Stone sleeper becomes more prominent if something happens to the bones of the ortet since the bones are what’s giving the grimwalker it’s shape the stone sleeper lungs may partially petrify the body to preserve its form or try and give it more stone sleep features like the ears.
If something happens to the galderstone the palistrum wood is the next most magical ingredient and the grimwalker may become more tree or palismen like depending on if it’s just damaged or fully removed.
If something happens to too much of the skin/selkiedomus scales the bones of the ortet are the next sturdiest material the body can try and rebuild its outer shell with
The galderstone only kicks in if there’s not much of anything left to just try and keep themselves alive for as long as possible but this only happens if it’s a relatively strong galderstone like the ones from the grave yard vs the one Hunter probably has is much smaller

Wings!au Kira and Ethan. Kira is a natural flyer and doesn’t need much direction when her wings come in. Ethan while he’s about on level with Connor as far as initial skill actually asks for help when he first starts flying from Kira so they spend a lot of time together as she couches him and they watch Connor get stuck up trees.
